View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a very serious problem as I cannot reboot my galaxy nexus as i tried to update my phone to JELLY BEAN. I watched the tutorial video on how to install jelly bean on my phone on youtube. Furthermore, I downloaded this ROM ''CyanogenMod 9.0''
But unfortunately everything messed up and phone is not rebooting now.
P.S: I am noob in these stuffs
Prior to upgrading to 4.2.1, I made a NANDROID backup of my Nexus 7 (4.1.2) using mskip's toolkit. The restoration method copies the backup folder to the device (/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/), then boots it into custom recovery. At first I was using TWRP 2, but I think I need to be using CWM, so I flashed CWM Touch. I actually went through the motions again of copying the backup over to the Nexus 7, but CWM Touch doesn't see the backup folder. It returns two messages when attempting to Restore:
1. Couldn't open directory
2. No files found
The folder containing the NANDROID backup and all parent folders are readable/writable/NOT Hidden, according to ES File Explorer, but I wonder about ownership.I'm rooted with SuperSU 0.99.
how to make CWM Touch, TWRP 2 or some manual method recognize and restore a NANDROID backup? I know I could just flash stock 4.1.2 and start from scratch (I have apps + data backed up), and if it comes to it.
The device : Google Nexus S
The problem: Broken LCD display... The official Samsung service replaced the LCD display and installed 4.0.1. The result is that I lost all my data (all photos and videos are lost).
I tried every recovery tool available (from R-studio to Photorec)... No data recovered... Is there any chance to recover the previous configuration or may I start to take it for granted that all my photos are forever gone ?
Yesterday I got a sort-of-refurbished Nexus S (I9023) which was apparently not in such a good shape...Had problems flashing the system and userdata partitions (kept saying they were flashed fine but after reboot went back to their previous state).
I followed some tip without actually reading up on it and ended up formatting my bootloader partition.
Now, what I get is just a black screen no response or anything but using a tool called UnBrickable Mod I can get it back to fastboot mode and then boot into a recovery image and have adb access.
All in all, I am currently stuck cuz I want to flash a new bootloader image but what i get when i do that is:
Code:
~ # nandwrite /dev/mtd/mtd0 /bootloader.img
Skipping bad block at 0x00000000
Skipping bad block at 0x00040000
Skipping bad block at 0x00080000
Skipping bad block at 0x000c0000
Writing at 0x00100000
Writing at 0x00140000
Writing at 0x00180000
Writing at 0x001c0000
nandwrite: not enough space in MTD device
I have read that NAND blocks tend to go bad when continuously being flashed, but 50% bad blocks on the bootloader partition? Seems pretty unlucky... Is it possible to resize the partitions without any JTAGing or writing custom bootloaders?
I unrooted and updated my radio last week to play with the first leaked froyo rom. I decided I did not like it and did a nand restore to my backup that was before the radio update. My radio shows that it is back to before 2.xxx.xxx but my h-boot is still updated. I wanted to play with a couple new roms that have come out since with working 2.2 but I have a few questions. Will I brick if I re-install the OTA radio? Do I have to downgrade h-boot first?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to prevent the situation where an updated version of my app restores using a bundle written from a previous version of my app. In other words:
1) app v1 stops and calls onSaveInstanceState
2) app v1 saves the bundle
3) user goes to marketplace and updates the app to v2
4) user starts the v2 version of the app
5) v2 version calls onCreate passing the bundle with v1 data
Is that even possible? Do I need to worry about it?
I'm running 4.3 on my AT&T (not sure if that is relevant) Galaxy S3. A few weeks ago I updated it to 4.3 when I saw a message that an update was available.
I keep a lot of work contacts in the phone but over the years I've built a collection of "contacts" that have no first/last name but are simply just a "Company" field with a phone and fax number.
Before 4.3 I could use the keypad in the stock Phone app to spell out company names (e.g. I could pull up the number for "XYZ Widgets, Inc." by typing "XYZ", just like searching for a person's name).
Ever since 4.3 I've been unable to do this. I go into my contacts and they are still shown there. But they do not show up when I'm typing them out. So I have a workaround but it's cumbersome.
Any settings I can change to try to fix this? I took some screen captures of the menu options I have under "call settings" in the Phone app. Link: [URL]

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust moved to a leaked ICS build for my SGS2 and the app says that it can't do it in ICS due to the OS not allowing it.
question is, why disable useful things like this? they did it a while back with allowing apps like tasker access to turn on gps (secure settings). It's annoying to get new features in new versions of android but have other parts taken away.
I have a Samsung galaxy S3 which is about a year old. About 2 days go i tried updating my software to Kit.Kat. It said update is complete but it just needs to reboot so i said yes. Now when i switch my phone on it turns on and when it gets to the Samsung logo it just flashes and stays on the Samsung logo. I have tried connecting my phone to kies but i have had a problem with my phone connecting to the computer. I also don't want to restore to factory default because i don't want to loose all my photos.

I am using an LG Nexus 4 device with the stock Android keyboard. When texting, composing e-mails, or engaging in most functions with a keyboard, there is a smiley key on the bottom left corner next to the period. Is there any way to remove or change that key?
I use the period often, and sometimes hit that smiley key by accident. A few times in the last week, I sent serious messages and, instead of ending the sentence with a period, I ended it with a smiley. Those made for awkward moments.
By the way, I have tried Swype and SwiftKey and prefer the Android keyboard with gesture-typing. I am not interested in installing an app with a supposedly better keyboard.
