The title says it all just updated to firmware 1.21.405.2 on o2 backed up my settings beforehand but the restore didn't work! How do I try it again please?

I have a nandroid backup of 2.1 with radio 1.x I have gone to unrevoked forever and updated the radio to 2.5. Will I brick my phone is I restore the 2.1 backup or will I just have 2.1 with current 2.5 radio?

Can I roll back to my previous firmware? I started to browse all these rooting and flashing forums and sticky's and it all sounds like rocket science to me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife's Droid 2 recently began to behave badly and make a gear-like squealing sound intermittently during some phone calls. Sometimes one a day -- sometimes every call. When it happened she could always hear it - sometimes the other partly could hear it. The phone is 11 months old and still on warranted.
I took it to the Verizon store and they insisted that they must do a "return to factory setting" and re-setup the phone to see if this fixes the problem. "It will only take 15 minutes" they said. Of course, after those 15 minutes I spent the next 4 hours trying to get it to stop yelling "Droid" at my wife every few minutes when an email, sms, phone call, usb connection etc. happened. I then realized that what I really needed was an application that saved and could restore the phone's basic settings and those of the important apps.
When I looked at the Market and App-Brain I couldn't find such an app. Without root-ing and using Titanium is there such an app that can restore the hundreds of settings that you might have tweaked?
It seems TitaniumBackup cannot restore VPN settings even I have already done full backup of my device (4.0.3 ICS). VPN needs pattern lock / PIN lock / password lock. TB restored my pattern lock style but no VPN settings left.

I would like to completely backup my phone (ideally to my dropbox folder) so I can easily restore all of my apps and settings on the new vibrant when it comes. I already have Astro, and have backed up my apps to my SD card. But I would like something more comprehensive, say the way Blackberry Desktop software can do a complete back up from one phone and restore it all to a different phone. What backup apps do you use?

I tried "MyBackup" from the market and it backed up my Sensation quite nicely, but it doesn't restore the accounts and setting up everything again was difficult.
Any app that does a backup that includes a backup of the "Accounts & Sync" settings?
What do I need to restore to put my Email account (exchange account) back on my phone via TiBu? Always just re-entered my account info, but wanted to try restoring it the last time I wiped, and could not get it to work. I restored "Accounts" and "Account and Sync Settings 2.2" and all my Gmail accounts are present, but when I launch the Email app or look at Settings>Accounts my Exchange Email account has not been restored. (I also restored Email 2.2 (only option was Data restore). This was going from one CM nightly to another, so I'm restoring data from two ROM s that are virtually the same. Any advice appreciated - I can add the Exchange Email account back manually, but wondered why I can't restore it. What am I missing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI think I know the answer to this, but want to check as I'm new to rooting. Bear with me. So I have a nandroid backup of the Sense ROM I was using up until recently. I've wiped and installed a Cyanogen ROM to check out Android without Sense - can I then just restore the old back over the Cyanogen ROM and get back t how I was, or do I need to re-flash the other sense-based ROM I was using first? Second question - if I want to move between different ROMs without losing my contacts, SMS etc, should I just flash it without doing the wipe first? What if I have to wipe - then I need some other kind of app-based backup to restore?

I am hoping people have better suggestions than my experience..I have just factory rest my HTC Desire to get around the googlemail to gmail switch. This required a factory reset of the device. Now the HTC backs up some settings but as it turns out not much. These are what I notice it misses:any saved scene settings any added wallpaper any apps any email or other account settings I already had the backup feature enabled (home>menu>settings>privicy>backup...) View 5 Replies View RelatedI broke my HTC Desire so did what I thought was a backup to the SD card and sent it away to be fixed. Apparently they couldn't fix it and sent me another one. When I turned the new phone on (after having inserted the SD card) it asked me if I wanted to do system update, I presume this was to 2.2. I said yes. Now I have lost all my contact data (and diary but contact data more important!). If I connect my HTC desire to the PC I can see quite clearly the backup file I made before I sent the HTC desire off to be repaired. Questions is a) does it have my contacts in and b) how on EARTH do I put the contacts back into the HTC desire (sorry if I haven't phrased that very well).

I've downloaded firmware and backed up the data stored on the phone when prompted, now after the phone restarted I saw that the main screen is set to a default HTC one, I had my own profile saved onto the phone but I cannot find it after the firmware update. Can you manually backup data form the sd card? Or is it just a normal thing that the update deletes your own main screen setting even if it's saved in the profiles section. I must say I'm quite annoyed with it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI updated my unbranded desire to FroYo, and now I really wish I hadn't. Anything that requires data not Working as previously. My email is no longer push - I have to go in and manually refresh - which takes at least 5 minutes, and in the case of my exchange email, usually results in a sync error. Twidroyd, Twitter, Peep, Facebook, all timeout whenever I want to refresh them; I may get one proper update a day, but the rest of the time, nada.
Internet is so slow now, I just give up half the time. WiFi flickers on and off, even though it's set to on all the time. Anyone got any ideas of stuff I can check, or whether I can un update - I love the aps2sd and stuff, but it's bricked the rest of my phone. It's getting to the point where I'm actually starting to dislike the phone because it just doesn't work.
I posted this in the 2.2 thread but it seems to have been overlooked so I will ask here instead. The option to allow the phone to backup automatically to SD card in Settings > Privacy have gone, does anyone know where the setting is now or even if a backup option is even available in froyo 2.2, because i can't find it anywhere even after a factory reset.

Here's my question:
1. Should I backup my current configuration
2. Then "Restore" my backup prior to upgrade
3. Grab my files (hoping they will be there) toss them on my mac
4. Then just "Restore" back to where I am now?
Need those files by tomorrow, any assistance is much appreciated. It's not that it's an emergency without them, but I will have to do some legwork to gather that info again.
I've not found anything yet on this, so excuse me if I didn't look in the right place I have the HTC Desire branded Orange France and I want to debrand it. This will kill the warranty, so... how can I backup the Orange configuration in case I need to do a restore to make a claim under warranty?

I did a Backup of all my stuff on the phone, when I'd updated my phone and turned it on it asked me to setup the phone again with the Language, Time & Date etc and now when I try to restore my settings it says "Could Not Restore" when it is almost done.

I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Incredible just got updated to the 2.1 update1 firmware. When the update was installed all of my pictures stored on the phone were deleted. Now when I take a picture, most of the time, the phone will just show the picture I took on the screen but not allow me to to do anything (take another picture, share, delete, etc.).
The only thing I can do to get the phone responsive again is to click the home screen button and then the click camera icon (repeatedly) until the camera is responsive again. I tried switching the phone to save to the Micro SD card instead of the Phone memory but am still having the same problems. I have also tried turning GEO-Tagging on and Off but that does not effect problem.
I just ran an update using the SEUS and I have received a couple Vodafone applications and a Sony Ericsson Sync application are there meant to be any other changed that I have missed?

Baseband version 1.1.28
Build number is still on 24?
Ive just received this 2 days ago and my setting app was working last night now I can access it but when I touch any of the sub categories (e.g. sound and display) nothing happens. I wondered if this was from low battery but I am charging the battery and it still wont work.

If I backup the stock voicemail program with Titanium Backup will I be able to restore them all after wiping all data and/or installing a different ROM (as well as Sprint VVM)? If not, is there another way to backup the downloaded voicemails on the phone, i.e. not emailing them to myself?
