Android 3 and 4 have a new option that allows the user to add new a Google Account to the phone by using the Browser Sign-In. The option is available when you try to add a new Google Account to Android (see screenshot).

I just switched over from Apple and am trying to set up my Galaxy S4. Using the default web browser, there is an annoying red minus/green plus sign that pops up any time the page is not scrolling. The symbols allow me to adjust the font size. I just want this to go away, and I will use pinch gestures if I need to zoom in or adjust. Under Settings>Accessibility, I have text scaling at 100%, force zoom unchecked, text encoding on auto detect, full screen mode unchecked, text booster unchecked.

It now boots and asks me login to my google account and now it freezes on 'signing into google'.. And after a couple of hours of waiting (I figured it was just downloading alot of photos or something) it won't cancel either.

View 27 Replies View RelatedI'm assuming that your input XML is very simple and uses no element attributes, namespaces, or recursively nested elements. I recommend you use the following pattern, which I've used countless times:
Use a StringBuffer or StringBuilder to collect character data. Initialize it in startElement. In the characters method, do only the following: sb.append(ch, start, length). Please note that SAX parsers are not required to return the full contents of a text node in a single call to characters(). For efficiency, the parser may use an input buffer which may be smaller than a particular text node. A lot of people seem to miss this. Do the major processing in the endElement() method.
Do you use a debugger to step through your code?
Notice this on the stock browser when it first launches? This takes up at least 5 seconds or more when you're just trying to open up the browser to go to a site. Seems unnecessary. Would be better if it just pulled up the browser. Is there a setting to change this? I like the stock browser, otherwise and I'm not interested in Dolphin. I hear it has advertisements on it?

I just can't figure out how to add multiple email accounts under the Email app. Under email settings I see where it says default mail account and it shows both of my account, but the front screen doesn't show both accounts?

Any way to merge Google Play accounts? I have two email accounts on my phone, I wish to take that down to one but there are purchased apps in both accounts at Google Play. I looked into this some time ago and Google told me back then that they could not merge accounts -- which I thought was rather ridiculous. Doesn't Google have the (sometime scary) power to do just about anything? Anyway, they told me that I'd have to contact each and every paid app maker that I'd purchased from and see if they'd give me a new download under a different email addy since I'd already paid once. I finally gave up and just re-purchased the most important apps.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've used IOS for a while and wanted to try something different. That being the case I bought a google nexus 7 to play around with it. I have 2 google+ accounts set up on this phone because I play a game called Clash of Clans. I had to link both my IOS accounts over to 2 google play accounts. Now when I connect via Wi-Fi anywhere, it downloads the emails from both accounts. Is there a way for only allow for one of them to download? I'm not too familiar with this new operating system, so maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave had an ongoing problem with error 403 in the Google Play Store.In this case, the issue seems to have arisen because I have historically used 2 google accounts to purchase apps. 'Account A' from 4 to 3 years ago, and 'Account B' from 3 years onwards.
I now only have 'Account B' on my phone (N7000), however, some of the apps which I purchased with 'Account A' still appear as purchased in my Google Play Store, even although phone can be hard reset with no further 'Account A' reference. So I get this 403 download problem, although I wouldn't even mind just buying some apps afresh with 'Account B'. Also, maybe of relevance, the same card was used to purchase on both accounts.
Is there a way I can 'clear' the original 'Account A' purchases?
I have the phone running Android 2.3.4 (rooted).I have two Google accounts setup on my phone. I use both of them as there are apps purchased from both accounts.
I would like to sync contacts from my phone to BOTH the accounts. As of now, contacts are being synced to just one Google Account. In the "Accounts and Sync", I see both the Google Accounts listed, with the "Sync Contacts" option enabled for both accounts.
Is it possible to sync contacts to both GOOGLE accounts from the phone? If yes, how?
My phone stolen, some prats smashed my window through and took everything. I've tried installing all of those tracking apps, but it seems my phones either constantly turned off, or has been wiped.
One day they are bound to use my phone, and set up another google account with it. I was wondering, is there anyway that I could find out what google account they use?
Is there anyway to make the browser not do this? It really slows down the browsing experience compared to other Android phones. I have tried to change my homepage to something different and that did not work. Any ideas?

As with the iphone, inputting a new phone number within seconds is rather difficult on the Droid. That got me wondering if there were any third party apps or at least a way through the device OS that will let me quickly add a new contact. So far as I can tell the quickest way is to hit Phone--> input # --->option key---> add to contacts ---> Create new contact. That is 6 steps just to take someone's number! There's got to be a better way.
I have a problem with my android phone. During the holidays I added my mothers and girlfriends gmail-account to my android phone (android 4.0) so they could check their email at wifi points. Afterwards (about a week ago now) I removed their accounts again. So, there is no trace from their accounts left on my phone. However, I just noticed that when they go to the play store on a pc, they can still install apps! Even though they are not logged in to my phone! I tried it, and indeed, my phone started downloading the app.
Googling how to stop this did not turn up anything useful, How do I disable their ability to install apps? I even added the accounts again to the phone, made sure all syncing was off, removed them (with all syncing off), and it still worked!

I unchecked the automatic sign in box in the settings and forced closed and reopened the program again. When I open it, it automatically signs me into one account. It's extremely annoying. I hope I don't have to do a full reset of the phone because I already have so much stuff on it already, including a lot of personal data. This is something that I just can't get by because I need to start using G Talk now.

I recently started using Google Hangouts instead of SMS (TextMessaging). The only issue I have is that the numbers I havent added any areacode to gets the areacode for Sweden (+46), and this is ONLY on Google Hangouts.
When I go back to the regular SMS app, the areacode is removed, and I can again send SMS without sending it to Sweden first.
I'm from Norway if it matters (+47). But the phone itself is imported from Sweden, but I'm using Norwegian as language. I checked my gmail. I have my country set to Norway.

View 2 Replies View RelatedInteresting question for you all. I'm running a rooted Eris on xtrROM 4.6 with all the little bells and whistles. No apps that are out of the ordinary. Just a moment ago I had the little warning triangle with the sign through it. I opened it up and it was a message that said google sign in error.It gave me one of those stylized arrangements of letters that i had to punch to make sure I wasn't a bot. Generally stuff like that makes me fairly wary so I closed it and opened both my gmail folder and google calendar (which I just started using today actually). Both worked fine. Was this a fishing scam of some kind? I've been reading some reports of how fishing scams are coming over through SMS and I've gotten some of the more obvious ones for walmart cards etc, but this one was new to me.

When I launched Google Voice for the first time a dialog showed up and asked, "Sign in as mygoogleacco @gmail.com?"
