General :: Restoring Backups - Google Accounts And 2 Step Verification

Oct 6, 2012

I have a nandroid backup of my phone. I also have a tablet. Is it possible to advanced restore the data from my phone onto my tablet?

Story is : Phone broke with sim card.... Sent it off for repairs....

Forgetting I have two step verification for my Google account

Installed new ROM on tablet with full wipe andwithout nandroiding

I need to access my account without my phone and I don't have backup codes. So the idea was: to restore the google account information from the nandroid of the phone to the tablet.

General :: Can't Login With Active 2-step Verification

Oct 14, 2012

I just got a Vodafone 858 (Huawei U8160) and tried to connect it to my Google account. Didn't work because every time I entered my password and hit the login button it'd just empty the password field. After a while I tried disabling the 2-step verification and suddenly everything worked. Now I reactivated the 2-step verification and both my S III and U8160 report a login problem and require me to login again (which I assume is normal). The problem is that this puts me right where I started. Happened with the Stock ROM and this ROM. Didn't try any other.

HTC Eris :: Restoring Nandroid Backups

Jul 10, 2010

I have a question about restoring nandroid backups. I have quite a few ROMs saved as backups, for switching if I want to try something else. I have White Widow 4.4 installed right now, and am apparently stuck with it since when trying to roll back to Aloysius or anything else. When I go to restore a back up, after wiping dalvik/data, I get this error. Error : run 'nandroid-mobile.shrestore' via adb! What the heck are they talking about? I hope this isn't something simple and stupid, but I am out to sea right now with no access to my computer. Please assist! Thanks guys! Also, WW4.4 rules.

General :: Galaxy S2 - Restoring App Data From Google Servers After Factory Reset?

Sep 24, 2012

First, my phone info: Galaxy S2 I9100, ICS 4.0.3

My question: How do you restore app data from Google servers after a factory reset?

When I upgraded from Gingerbread to ICS, the phone warned me I would be losing all my data. Fortunately under "Settings - Back up and reset" I had checked the "Back up my data" as well as the "Automatic restore" options. When I completed the upgrade to ICS I not only automatically retained all my app data, but I didn't even have to re-download any apps. All my apps I had on Gingerbread, along with all the data, had been successfully and automatically carried over to ICS.

Recently I've been having issues with my home button. After rebooting and some other troubleshooting, I decided to factory reset my phone. Again I made sure the "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" options were checked. When I completed the factory reset it was like I just powered on my phone for the first time (OBVIOUSLY this is to be expected as I performed a Factory Reset).

Under the "Automatic restore" check box it states "When reinstalling an application, backed up settings and data will be restored". So I began to download and reinstall the apps I had before. The problem is NONE of the apps restored with the data I had backed up to Google servers. Did I do something wrong?

I'm a bit irked because I believe I received the exact same "you're going to lose your data" warning when I upgraded to ICS AND when I performed this recent factory reset. The difference is when I upgraded I got all my stuff back, so I figured after the factory reset, when I reinstalled my apps I'd get the data back too. I think it's only fair if Google really WILL restore data after an upgrade, but NOT restore data after a factory reset they should annotate that in their warning. Also maybe include a statement like, "After performing a factory reset you will not be able to retrieve app data from Google Servers. We recommend installing a third party app to save your important app data." But instead you get the same warning with two different results.

I use ADW as my launcher, it would nice to save those settings. Is there a step by step guide or instructions for doing this? I've done this 4 or 5 times over the years with PC's, can't imagine this should be that difficult with the DX.

General :: Way To Merge Google Play Accounts?

Jan 6, 2013

Any way to merge Google Play accounts? I have two email accounts on my phone, I wish to take that down to one but there are purchased apps in both accounts at Google Play. I looked into this some time ago and Google told me back then that they could not merge accounts -- which I thought was rather ridiculous. Doesn't Google have the (sometime scary) power to do just about anything? Anyway, they told me that I'd have to contact each and every paid app maker that I'd purchased from and see if they'd give me a new download under a different email addy since I'd already paid once. I finally gave up and just re-purchased the most important apps.

Android :: Want Step By Step Video Tutorials?

His tutorials are really easy to understand, because he goes through the process as if talking to an elementary school kid.nyway, he just started a tutorial series about developing iPhone apps. Maybe it's time someone from the Android camp did the same? Sure, there are many tutorials already available online, but they don't appeal to the common person, and the good video tutorials on Youtube are all more than one hour long. By doing something like this, more people would be attracted to try develop apps for Android.

General :: Google Play Store With Multiple Accounts - 403

Mar 22, 2014

Have had an ongoing problem with error 403 in the Google Play Store. In this case, the issue seems to have arisen because I have historically used 2 google accounts to purchase apps. 'Account A' from 4 to 3 years ago, and 'Account B' from 3 years onwards.

I now only have 'Account B' on my phone (N7000), however, some of the apps which I purchased with 'Account A' still appear as purchased in my Google Play Store, even although phone can be hard reset with no further 'Account A' reference. So I get this 403 download problem, although I wouldn't even mind just buying some apps afresh with 'Account B'. Also, maybe of relevance, the same card was used to purchase on both accounts.

Is there a way I can 'clear' the original 'Account A' purchases?

Afterwards (about a week ago now) I removed their accounts again. So, there is no trace from their accounts left on my phone. However, I just noticed that when they go to the play store on a pc, they can still install apps! Even though they are not logged in to my phone! I tried it, and indeed, my phone started downloading the app.

Googling how to stop this did not turn up anything useful, How do I disable their ability to install apps? I even added the accounts again to the phone, made sure all syncing was off, removed them (with all syncing off), and it still worked!
