General :: Adding Google Account On Android 2.3.7
Nov 30, 2013I'm trying to add an google acount in a cynamogen 7(.2?) but it requires exchange settings. I think that google dropped support for this... Is there anyway to bypass this?
It needs gapps. I've installed only play .apk and that's what was happening: [URL] .......

Aug 19, 2010Droid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

May 8, 2010Starting two days ago my Nexus One wont log into Google Talk, I get the message:
Authentication Error
Google Talk failed to login. If this is a Google Apps account, confirm that chat is enabled for this account. I have logged into my domain Dashboard and Chat is on for my domain, Chat works in Gmail just fine. Everything else on my phone seems to be working, just not Google Talk. I just got the phone, I'm in Tucson with T-Mobile service and I've tried both over WIFI and over Edge/3G.

Jul 22, 2010I'm trying to add a second gmail account (my wife's), and I keep running into a response message after a couple of minutes, saying "Can't establish a reliable data connection on the server". I've tried forcing the transaction through Wi-Fi and cellular paths, always with the same result.
I see any number of threads in a variety of forums with this problem, going back months, but I didn't find any viable solutions. The most common solution offered is to do a factory reset on the phone, which I'm not near ready to do yet.

Feb 26, 2012I just bought an Epic 4G, and I'm trying to configure it with my email account. I clicked on the email icon on the home screen, and it instantly brought me to a screen that asks me to enter my email address and account password. "You can configure email for most accounts in a few steps," it says. Lies! I've entered my info at least ten times now, double-checked every time, and every time it tells me that either my username or password are incorrect. I promise you this is not the case. I'm trying to configure a Yahoo account.
I tried to add the account manually and the phone says it can't connect to the server.

ETA: I just found that these settings work but I have to disable WiFi which is total BS
For Incoming Server Settings set the IMAP server to imap.mail.yahoo.com and the Port to 143
For Outgoing Server Settings set the SMTP Server to "smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com and the Port to 587
General :: Google Voice - Notifications From One Account Are Displaying Other GV Account
Mar 11, 2014I have two gmail accounts, each with their own Google Voice account. Account 1 is my primary account, and I have even ported my phone number to this account. I'm using this account on my phone (nexus 5), and have 0 issues with this account. All texts, voicemails, etc come through with no issues. Account 2 is largely not used. I would like to use account 2 on my nexus 7, for texts, and maybe making calls if I don't want to give out my real number to someone.
My issue is when I'm logged in to account 2 on my nexus 7, I'm getting text notifications for account 1 on my nexus 7. But if I were to open Google Voice on the nexus 7, once GV refreshes, the texts disappear. It doesn't happen the other way around. If I get a text/vm to account 2, it does not notify my phone, which is logged in to account 1.
I've checked the settings in both GV accounts, and neither account is linked to the other, or to send copies of texts/vm notifications to the other. How do I stop notifications from GV account 1 to stop displaying on account 2? I have cleared cache, data, uninstalled the app. The only thing i have not done, is a reset of the nexus 7.
I was initially logged in to account 1 on my nexus 7, but I would have thought removing the app from the device would have essentially erased all traces of the account 1 on the nexus 7. I even signed out of hangouts, to make sure Google was not treating this like my phone, and sending it both places.

Dec 19, 2013New to Android and trying figure hangouts little. I am already setup in it, am I required to "add" my friends/family to it before I can do texting and such?
On my phone, I know with the Kitkat update it wants to use Google hangouts. I have not set it to use it as it keeps saying I need to add everyone in people to hangouts.
I want to make sure I am going to spam my friends and family to join hangouts as they are not on it and do not want too.

Nov 25, 2013I recently started using Google Hangouts instead of SMS (TextMessaging). The only issue I have is that the numbers I havent added any areacode to gets the areacode for Sweden (+46), and this is ONLY on Google Hangouts.
When I go back to the regular SMS app, the areacode is removed, and I can again send SMS without sending it to Sweden first.
I'm from Norway if it matters (+47). But the phone itself is imported from Sweden, but I'm using Norwegian as language. I checked my gmail. I have my country set to Norway.

Jul 22, 2013I've tried hiding my custom tones that I've downloaded at various points in different places on my phone (T-Mobile Galaxy S4), inclding the external SD, but to no avail. For example, I added a high quality .mp3 clip of a old rotary phone ring to use as my ringtone, I put it straight into the ringtones system folder.
Very next time that I start up Google Music, there's new stuff from 'unknown artist," low and behold, the ringtone.
Super annoying, part of the reason I was paying for all access to use Google Music was to have a clean, auto-organized library. I don't want all of my sounds system-wide added to my library, and I can't seem to find any way to change the folders it searches, or even to remove it from the library within the app once it is added.

May 20, 2013So, I was sitting here, and adding music to my library with google play music.. Now... I think the big GMan might have overlooked something. I had around 200 songs uploaded from my computer to Play. Now, I got the trial of All Access, and ive been adding a bit of music with the search and add feature.. So then i thought.. Maybe this is a free way to get audio files. I went to the "Music Manager" application on my computer, and i hit "download my library" and its now downloading all 291 songs, allowing transfer to any device (Like an iPod) 91 of which, keep in mind, I had added via the search feature from the Play Music app on my phone. So, is this a glitch overlooked by Google? Or is it intended to be this way?

Apr 29, 2012I've just purchased a new Galaxy Nexus (yay!) and my husband wants to take over my old Desire (Froyo, no other ROM installed). The Desire is rooted, but I had trouble with that process so I don't really want to reset the phone to its factory state. However, I can't delete my Google account to make my husband's the primary. This means that he has to remember to change accounts for each email he writes, among other inconveniences, and the phone is showing a triangle error icon in the notification bar because I canceled its access to my 2-step validation process, so it isn't happy about not being able to synchronize my account. Is there any way (other than resetting completely) to remove my account from the Desire?
