i dont know if its me but i dont seem to be getting instant notifications via text when someone replies to my status or when i post on someones wall etc. I used to get them instantly on my Storm. Is there a step Im missing here?

I did a factory re-set on my phone, and I use Handcent as my preferred IM application. Previously, I had "turned off" the notification sounds from the stock HTC messaging app, but now I cannot remember where I did that. I have gone to settings, but I cannot find how to turn it off for the life of me. Now I get double notifications, and I only want Handcent notifications.

View 3 Replies View Related i've changed three android tablets so far, rooted my phone, installed and tweaked dozen of roms on it,
on both my tablet and phone i have facebook and gmail applications. they are basically the same .apks since i have a backup of them on a sd card and if i format one device, i often use restire the apps from the sd card.
and you know how you get an instant notification on your phone if you receive a fb message or an e-mail? that doesn't happen on my tablet. it seems that a couple of minutes after i turn off the display on my tablet, it drops the wifi connection (a power save thing i suppose).
is there any way to ensure a constant wifi connection on my tablet so that i receive email/fb notifications in real time and just not after i turn the display on?
I just got the Droid 2 a couple days ago, and I was wondering if the face book app notified you of wall posts, comments, likes...etc.? Because mine only does for Messages. I hope nobody else has asked this question, but I would really appreciate the feedback.

I have a HTC Desire, and it's pretty much amazing and all. One of the things that bugs me tho, (coming from the iPhone which had that ability) is that the Facebook app, don't show any notifications, and that is something I'd really want. I've tried searching the forum, but couldn't find anything use full. cam out really be true that I can't get any app's which can show me notifications from face book?

So I thought I'd give it another try, and they seem to have fixed the battery issue which is great, but I'm now missing notifications (i.e. when you tap the blue bar at the bottom you get a list of comments people have made either after your comments, or on your photos and things). For example, this morning I had 8 notifications on the app, but when I checked the mobile site there were two that hadn't pushed through to the facebook app. Anyone else get this? I have the feeling I'm missing a really simple setting somewhere.

My Facebook app on my HTC Evo was working fine until about a week ago, when suddenly I started getting this error message:
"Cannot retrieve the notifications. Please try again later. [601/Parser Error: Unexpected "-" at position 64.]"
Any suggestions for a fix? I've tried logging out and back in, and I can't figure out how to reinstall the app (uninstall option isn't available on the app settings screen).
So my new incredible doesn't update like my blackberry did. I checked the settings and the notifications are selected, but nothing comes through. When I open the app and goto the home screen and then notifications, I have to force a refresh to see my responses, etc.
