Iv'e always gotten Facebook/ My Space Notifications on my blackberry storm. For everything, wall posts, comments on status updates, etc...but for some reason on my droid doesnt do that..

Alright.. I had a Motoq9M for a couple of years.. and such a bad experience.. I was skeptical about EVER buying another motorola again.. Alas.. I refuse to give up my verizon coverage.. and bought a Droid.. aand Im ALMOST hopeless with some of this stuff. The first week everything worked great, then as I started adding apps, things have gotten hinky.
Problem 1:
I set up a "lock pattern" and my screen's timeout time is 30sec. Whenever I'd make a call even after I'd unlock it.. or I've answered the phone and unlocked it.. literally 2-3 secs later.. the phone would blackout and lock again.. WTF? soo.. i disabled the lock option.. problem solved.. but now I don't want to re-lock it if it's going to bug up again.
Problem 2:
I seem to have an unremovable facebook app... can't delete it from settings, and I can't delete it with an un-install app it doesn't even show up to look at in app management in settings.. uhh Help.. because
I USED to be able to go to a friends photos, and choose the "set as" option as a contact photo or a wallpaper.. it started to only do it once in a while .. and now I can't do it at all.. I REALLY want that ability back.
Problem 3:
half the time I go into my task killer, and apps I've never even touched to activate are randomly running in the background.. and when i go to look at my SD card space availability and its says unavailable..
Why can't i get any notifications from facebook? I have it set so the notification refreshes every 30 mins, but that doesn't work either.. someone commented on my wall and even after 2 hours, i didn't get any notification. is this just how the facebook application is? if it is, are there any other (better) facebook app for droid?

I have the Facebook app installed on my Droid and have the settings set to send me notifications for all possible things, but the app itself seems to refuse to update on its own or send me any notifications what-so-ever. Is there anyway to get it to actually refresh on its own and notify me?
View 3 Replies View RelatedLong time crackberry user converted to android. I got my DX on release day, and have been fighting with facebook since. I cannot seem to get any notifications for facebook what so ever. I set up the "Social Networking" app that came on the X out of the box, and that integrated all my FB friends into my contacts which sucks, but anyway, then I downloaded the facebook app for android. I set up all the settings for notifications, and sounds and all that.
But no matter what, I cannot get a facebook notification like I did on my blackberry. Ill get yahoo emails saying so and so commented on your photo, or what not. But nothing else from FB instant. I have to manually go into my facebook app, go to notifications, hit the menu button and select refresh. Last night for some reason I got the little F in the top left notification bar that someone invited me to join an event. But I cant seem to get anything to mimic it again. I've checked HOFO and they suggested I check here.
My son got ahold of my Droid the other day and logged onto his Facebook account via the widget (which was not on display, he found it ) I do NOT want to get his notifications please! Can't figure out how to stop that.

Coming from BB World, I would like to be able to get audible notifications of Facebook wall postings, etc. I know the only way to get this is by an email which I'm fine with. But is there any way to get a "sms" type of notification for just that email? I set the email up as a contact and I see where you can add a ringtone but I really don't want a ringtone, just a small "sms" tone, if you will.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just bought the Cliq for my wife, and it seems as though MotoBLUR doesn't send facebook notifications such as image tagging and whatnot to the phone. She only gets status updates on the main screen. Short of signing up for facebook SMS messages on their site, is there a way to get MotoBLUR to give notifications for everything in facebook? My BlackBerry(s) have always done this with the facebook application, and it's a nice feature.

When i click on the notification it sends me to my Manage Apps menu. The Manage Apps menu kind of freezes and all the apps show but the disk space says "computing..." and doesn't change
This is the current amount of space I have in my phone.
SD card - Total space = 7.42GB / Avail. space = 7.05gb
Internal phone storage - Total space = 6.6gb / Avail. space = 6.53gb
Phone memory - Total space = 748MB / Avail space = 696MB
I have tried clearing the internet cache and etc..still to no avail. the phone seems to be functioning fine except for the notification that bugs me.
Does anyone know how to turn off the notifications from Facebook? Also is this using up my battery?
View 12 Replies View RelatedOn 1.5 I used to get notifications all the time when someone uploaded new photos to flicker or changed their facebook account. Now I'm using the 2.1 leak v2 and I don't get any updates at all. What gives? I liked that feature. Any way to turn it back on?
And I do have the option set to update every 2 hours in the settings.
I've got a lot of contacts that are synced with their Facebook profiles and I really like the integration with the phone, especially in the 'People' app.
But I'm confused about how the notifications work. I get periodic notifications about updates from certain people, but when I click this notification it takes me to the People app's group tab, but none of the people who were in the notification show up here as having updates. It's usually just different peoples' birthdays or updates.
I tried refreshing the list here, but it still doesn't pull up any new people usually.
Can I clear my Facebook notifications in people? I've had my phone for about 4 days, I synced my contact card in people to my Facebook account right away, ever since it's said I have a 157 wall posts. It shows up under the updates and events tab in people. I've tried scrolling through all the notifications, but they won't clear.

Also add me to the 'my youtube doesn't work after the update' list. I called verizon to tell them about it yesterday and my tech had never heard of the problem before.
Aside from those issues I'm loving the phone. My husband has the droid, and while I am envious of his screen size, I prefer the feel of my eris.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Droid Maxx. I downloaded the Facebook app, but the problem is that it places all of my Facebook direct messages (emails, not "likes" or comments) on the main pulldown screen (the one where you swipe from the top when the phone is open).
I don't want this. I'm not a huge Facebook user, and I only want to see that stuff when I directly log into Facebook. I tried unchecking the box in Settings > Active Notifications, but these notifications are still appearing. With the iPhone, it was easy to simply turn off push notifications, but I can't seem to find this on the Droid Maxx.
Is there a setting I'm missing that controls the content that appears on the pulldown menu? How can I stop this from happening?
Ever since I update the Facebook app this weekend, I've been getting the "Low on space" messaage. Not true, I have 637 of 748MB. This is only thing that has been updated. I have maybe 20 apps installed.
Anyways, I noticed that this thing kept syncing for hours. I saw it was the Facebook app that was syncing. I went and checked my contacts and I had hundreds of entries for several diffifrent contacts.
I uninstalled the app and removed the Facebook data. Now the dialer and contacts will not pull up. Curse you Facebook.
Does it look like I need to reset? Battery pull did nothing.
I'm sure this isn't news to any of you veterans, but this is my first android device so please bare with me. I'm using the facebook app and have noticed that neither the app itself or the widget show the actual facebook live feed or provide a way to access it....
Of course my next thought was "well what if I just use the facebook page in a browser window". Turns out that's not as simple as I thought! Apparently facebook not only has a mobile page, it also has a "touch" page that it likes to route you to. Neither the mobile or the touch facebook pages have a way to access the live feed either....
I removed my facebook account because I didn't wane all of my friends in my contacts, but a few of them are still in my contacts and I can't delete them!

The Inc has an 8gb flash, but 6.6gb is for media and 748mb is allocated for app storage.
I know the Droid X has 8gb internal, but is all of it allocated for apps or just some of it?
Also, do people run into the infamous "Low on space" error, even if plenty of space still free? I run into the error on the Inc with 380mb still free, so technically, I really only have 368mb for apps.
I'm running Rooted Android 2.1 rooted with P3 1Ghz kernel and TI backup. I want to be able to run flash, Apps to SD, and restore my original apps I have backed up with TI back up. I've read a lot about options but cant decide on the safest path.
Stock 2.2 will eliminate my root correct?
I'm low on space and Apps to SD is my main concern. I'm happy with 2.1 at 1gz.
Let me know what you guys think the best route would be.

Mine seem to not like being butted up close together, and when I attempt to resize them with LPP, I notice they like to have a lot of blank space around them. I thought maybe a LCD density change would help with this, but it doesn't. If you understand what I'm talking about, any advice? If you're confused, I'll provide a picture later.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIf people who have naked droids could just humor me for a second...when holding your droid sideways (keyboard side facing down), is there a minuscule gap between the two parts in that when you push down on the top part, it hits the bottom or is yours flush? I ask because after trying a myriad of clip on cases, I think i may have /stretched, widened the gap.
