Android : Facebook App To Have Notifications / Is It All Through Email?

I have an htc hero and I love it, but have a couple questions. First, does anyone know if it is possible for the facebook app to have notifications or is it all through email?
Second, I was getting email notifications very quickly untill 2 days ago when they all stopped, and as of yesterday I could at least view new emails though I was not getting a notification, but now I'm not getting the new emails or the notification... what happened?

I'm sure this can be done but I'm not finding it. Coming from BB World, I would like to be able to get audible notifications of Facebook wall postings, etc. I know the only way to get this is by an email which I'm fine with. But is there any way to get a "sms" type of notification for just that email? I set the email up as a contact and I see where you can add a ringtone but I really don't want a ringtone, just a small "sms" tone, if you will.

I have had my Epic 4g for two days now and I am having the some notification and email problems. I don't get notifications when new email is available. I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.

Unless I'm losing it, whenever I had a new email notification, pulled down the notification bar, and clicked the email, G mail app opened up the email itself. All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?

I just pulled the battery to do a reset last night after a lockup and today I'm getting notifications everytime I get a new email. it never used to do this and i figured it was just cause I didn't use the gmail. now I'm thinking that it just might be one of the background tasks that I was always killing. I recently switched to home++ and I didn't use the built in task killer all day. so I guess my question is, does anyone know which background task would control this so I don't kill it? also, is there a place to go in the settings to change the led color for email alerts?

Finally got launcher pro to work. It actually seems slower than sense.... anyone else experience this? More specifically, opening menus is not as smooth and switching screens is a little choppy. Also... I do not get notifications on my sms and email icons when i have a new message or a email. I get it in my task bar but not on the actual icon, where it would usually tell me how many new emails or messages I have...

I just got the Droid 2 a couple days ago, and I was wondering if the face book app notified you of wall posts, comments, likes...etc.? Because mine only does for Messages. I hope nobody else has asked this question, but I would really appreciate the feedback.

when I get notifications from Facebook, it does the usual, notification bar, pull down, take me to the browser deal. Is there a way I can set it to take me to the touch site or the app instead? I prefer the interfaces on those better than the lackluster mobile site.

How do I get my facebook notifications go through the app rather than emailing me? On my BB, the notifications would go through the app and not email messages. Is this a possible fix?
I switched over from a Blackberry Tour (speaking of FAIL) to an old used OG Droid. Had it 1 day and already really loving it. Running Android 2.2 (Froyo? - I'm better with #s than names)

I have a HTC Desire, and it's pretty much amazing and all. One of the things that bugs me tho, (coming from the iPhone which had that ability) is that the Facebook app, don't show any notifications, and that is something I'd really want. I've tried searching the forum, but couldn't find anything use full. cam out really be true that I can't get any app's which can show me notifications from face book?

I haven't been using the Facebook app since the version 1.3.2 battery issue, but I've noticed that recently it's been updated to 1.4.1. So I thought I'd give it another try, and they seem to have fixed the battery issue which is great, but I'm now missing notifications (i.e. when you tap the blue bar at the bottom you get a list of comments people have made either after your comments, or on your photos and things). For example, this morning I had 8 notifications on the app, but when I checked the mobile site there were two that hadn't pushed through to the facebook app. Anyone else get this? I have the feeling I'm missing a really simple setting somewhere.

i dont know if its me but i dont seem to be getting instant notifications via text when someone replies to my status or when i post on someones wall etc. I used to get them instantly on my Storm. Is there a step Im missing here?

facebook app (one that comes with phone) seems to have some problems loading notifications most of the time and also other unknown errors... like "Cannot retreive notifications.... [601/parse error... at position 57] and some others.

I have Facebook for Android set to update notifications every hour and have set it to vibrate and play a sound...but I have yet to get even 1 notification. I have to go in to and manually update myself. Anyone else got this problem?

the Facebook for android apps of the htc desire is not receiving notifications. When i refresh the page of the notifications, a error will occur. All the rest can be used except for the notifications. Anyone has the same problems? or if you know the solution kindly help.

I have it set up to receive SMS notifications from a handful of my friends whenever they update their status, post something on my wall, etc. and it used to work perfectly on my Blackberry. I got the new EVO a couple of weeks ago and am no longer receiving them. Anyone else having this issue and if so, is there a fix?

I use Gmail and use the Gmail app as my mail app. Gmail notifies me when I have new mail. My Droid also came with the Email app, which is also hooked into my gmail account. By default, it also checks for new messages and notifies me about them. Naturally, I don't want the double-notifications, and the Email app is also crap at marking emails off as read if I've read them in Gmail. So I went into the Email app settings and unchecked "Send notification." That worked great. BUT... it keeps turning itself back on. If I ever restart my phone, it comes back again with the same stupid notifications. I think sometime it resets itself if it restarts itself after I kill it. how to turn off notifications PERMANENTLY?

Is there any way to set email notifications for individual contacts? I'm using K9 mail app on a Samsung Acclaim. For instance, I want emails I get from Joe to have a specific sound but don't want to hear/feel the email notification for ALL of the emails from my Gmail account. Any help/suggestion much appreciated!

How do I get notified when I have a new facebook message? I don't seem to be getting any, but when I use the Facebook app, I can see new messages. I'm coming from a BB Curve where I got actual facebook message notifications when I had a new message or someone replied to a thread that I had commented in. Does Android not do that?

I find the facebook App really poor. I don't seem to be getting notifactions when i get a message or someone posts on my wall.
I have checked the settings and i have ticked all the options but nothing.
Am i right in thinking that the phone should alert me to any post even when i am on the home screen (i.e. not in facebook app)?

I work in IT and would like to setup custom notifications based the Subject line for an email or SMS message. For example, I may want the phone on vibrate but have any email/SMS with the string "CRITICAL" (case sensitive) in the subject use a loud alert sound and repeat every 2 min until I acknowledge or read the email. The closest thing I could find was having handcent do a custom notification on the SMS sender's number, but it lacks the repeat options. Anyone know of an app that can do this?

I used to have a BB Tour. I could set it up to turn off notifications for email and text messages when I had the phone plugged in. The phone would still ring. I am looking for an app for my HTC Incredible that I could do basically the same thing. I would like to set the phone up so when I'm sleeping the notifications for SMS/MMS and EMAIL messages are muted, but the ringer for the phone is still active. Does anyone know of such an app or setting to do this?

Anyone know of an app that will quiet ONLY my email notifications at night automatically? I still want to get phone calls and SMS messages and for my alarms to ring. I just want my emails to be silent until morning. I can't find anything like this.One that comes with a widget would be even better.
