Android :: Facebook Loading Notifications Errors
Jan 12, 2010facebook app (one that comes with phone) seems to have some problems loading notifications most of the time and also other unknown errors... like "Cannot retreive notifications.... [601/parse error... at position 57] and some others.

Apr 29, 2010How do I get notified when I have a new facebook message? I don't seem to be getting any, but when I use the Facebook app, I can see new messages. I'm coming from a BB Curve where I got actual facebook message notifications when I had a new message or someone replied to a thread that I had commented in. Does Android not do that?

Jun 7, 2010So my new incredible doesn't update like my blackberry did. I checked the settings and the notifications are selected, but nothing comes through. When I open the app and goto the home screen and then notifications, I have to force a refresh to see my responses, etc.

Jul 15, 2010I'm thinking they are problems with the apps. Both Facebook and Gmail apps have notifications checked off to show when new messages are received but they never put a notification in my notification panel of my phone or sound a tone or vibrate even tho they are set to. Anyone else have this problem and is there a way to fix it?

Sep 21, 2010I got my HTC Droid Incredible back in July, and it worked amazingly for the last couple of months. All my apps have been running smoothly until recently, when Facebook started giving me problems. Now I don't know if this is a server thing, facebook itself, or a glitch in my phone, but I keep getting error messages.
When I refresh my notifications I get:
Cannot retrieve notifications. Please try again later. [601/Parser error: unexpected '-' at position 64.]
And occasionally I get another error/null type message when I try to refresh my newsfeed.
I've tried to reboot my phone, reinstall facebook, let my phone die recharge it blah blah blah. So, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks :]

May 15, 2010I have seen quite a few posts about FB notifications. However I don't get any of these. But I installed the Android version since the HTC version didn't have an Inbox. Is that why I don't get Facebook notifications, ie is that a difference between the 2 apps? The only notifications I get are emails that someone commented etc.
With the Blackberry version, those emails come in, but the FB app knows to take them over and remove the email so you aren't inundated with FB updates in your email Inbox.
HTC Incredible :: Facebook App - Notifications Section Not Working
May 12, 2010On the Facebook app, when you go into your Home, you can select Notifications. I'm assuming this will show you anything new such as friend requests, etc.. It doesn't show anything for me. I have reset the phone 3 times and I still cannot get this section to work. I also go to Menu>Refresh and it still says "No notifications". I know I have some notifications pending because the desktop and mobile site both say I do. Does anyone else have this problem? I have also uninstalled any Facebook updates and it still does not fix this. Am I missing something?

Nov 10, 2010Has anyone else experienced this issue/problem? When on 4G network, the majority of web pages do not load completely; they stick somewhere between 50-80% loaded and never complete. Stopping and refreshing sometimes gets the page to load, or switching to 3G. This happens regardless of browser (I've used stock, Dolphin, Dolphin HD, and Firefox), and both unrooted and rooted (Myn's 2.2, 2.3). When I've run speed test, I get downloads of 9+ MB/s but it doesn't make a difference if most pages don't load.

Oct 13, 2010I am quite new to Android yet, and I have an application that has a webview on it. I need to know when the webview finishes loading a page that has a random number of redirects (sometimes to the same page, and the order of the redirects also change), so I can remove the Splash Screen only when there is a fully loaded page. On the webviewclient the onPageStarted and onPageFinished functions are called once per each redirect, as is the onNewPicture (even though the screen is always blank during the redirects). So I can't be sure when it's called the last time (page actually loaded). I also tried using the onLoadResource to count the number of resources loaded (dangerous and unreliable approach, but I am getting desperate here), but this also failed, since after the page is cached, it is called only one or two times. That is one big puzzle I am unable to solve using what I know so far, can anyone please help me?

Sometimes it's takes quite a while to load the page, and in these cases I want to be able to use the built in back button on the phone to cancel the loading and go back to my application. Of course my next thought was "well what if I just use the facebook page in a browser window". Turns out that's not as simple as I thought! Apparently facebook not only has a mobile page, it also has a "touch" page that it likes to route you to. Neither the mobile or the touch facebook pages have a way to access the live feed either....
