I was wondering if there is a way to get instant gmail notifications on my samsung stratosphere? If I want to check my email on this phone, I have to go into the account I want and keep hitting refresh until the emails appear. On my old Incredible, I would see the notification for the email right away.

I recently bought a stratosphere 2 and cannot seem to figure out how to take a screenshot. I've tries the home and loco button at the same time and still nothing. How to take a screen shot on this phone

what should I do to see what it can withstand? I have access to vehicles, guns, some heavy equipment and a machinist shop.
This phone feels pretty fragile so I'm sure I'll only be able to test it one way... eager to see everyone's responses. I'll pick one and post video by the weekend
Why can't I send pictures with my Samsung Stratosphere? It always tells me "service is unavailable - will send when service becomes available" But it never sends them!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI dont have a verizon sim card anymore since we switched to AT&T, and i was wondering since i reset my phone is there anyway i can bypass the activation since i dont have a verizon sim card? I just want to use the phone like one would use an ipod.
Im running 4.0.4.
Is it possible? Need to bypass it to show other people the phone(its for sale) and it needs to be "activated" before i could use it for just wifi....how to get passed this? Hardware button method? Software?
View 2 Replies View Relatedrecently I've been learning more and more about building AOSP builds since I'm not a huge fan of the bloated touchwiz rom's for the Stratosphere. I'm looking more for AOSP roms, like I had when I had the Evo.
1. I have all I need to build Android from source, I have the Android source, and I have sources from Samsung for the Stratosphere. This includes the kernel sources, and platform sources, how do I merge these two together?
2. Do I have to build a kernel when I build the rom, or do I build the kernel seperately?

Before rooting, I had a working / reliable wifi connection. Now, it's gone.
Could rooting the phone have caused this problem? I followed the instructions to the letter (and am rooted successfully).
Whenever I turn on wifi, it fails to locate ANY networks ("unable to scan networks") and turns itself off.
I've tried using the fix described here: [URL] .......
Soft reset, factory reset, root, deletion of specific settings files so that they repopulate ... NOTHING works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Samsung Stratosphere turned itself off sometime and now is rebooting to the Samsung logo, and then turning back off, and rebooting (a couple times earlier it booted to the main android menu, but turned back off immediately afterwards) and when I plugged it into the charger it acts like it's charging and then turns off and acts like it's charging and over and over again, even when the battery indicates that it's at more than half full.
(No custom ROMs or anything, it's all standard btw). I took the battery out and everything and it still does the same thing when I put it back. I tried to do a factory reset, but the recovery mode screen always jumps away when I try to activate it (I press both Vol+ and Vol-, recovery mode screen comes up but goes instantly, then the phone goes into a boot loop again).
i dont know if its me but i dont seem to be getting instant notifications via text when someone replies to my status or when i post on someones wall etc. I used to get them instantly on my Storm. Is there a step Im missing here?

Previously, I had "turned off" the notification sounds from the stock HTC messaging app, but now I cannot remember where I did that. I have gone to settings, but I cannot find how to turn it off for the life of me. Now I get double notifications, and I only want Handcent notifications.

Is this how its supposed to be? (Not complaining!) I've only done some basic testing - but it seems really fast pickup! I thought Blackberry had a patent or something that stopped other mobile companies giving *instant* email notifications?
I am wondering how I can get my gmail to refresh itself and notify me of emails? I have all of the gmail settings figured out (including email notifications), but I always have to manually go in and refresh to see if my inbox has been updated.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI get hundreds of emails every day and I currently get a notification but no audio tone or vibrate as it would be going crazy. This is how I want my general email notifications set up. So that part is fine. What I do want however is for starred messages to play a tone/vibrate similar to my text messages. I went into Gmail and then Manage Labels within the menu and I confirmed that 'Starred' is set to sync all and ring, vibrate, notify once. This to me seems like it should be notifying the way I just described that I'm looking for but there is no different notification for starred messages the way I had hoped. What am I doing wrong here?

In settings I have found now two options:
1. Show archive, delte or both in buttun bar
2. Enable Swipe to xxxx
where in option 2 xxx changes depending on the value for option 1:
- if 1 = archive then xxx = archive
- if 1 = delete then xxx = delete
- if 1 = both then xxx = archive (!!!)
The above makes no snese at all....

Im having an issue with my gmail notifications. I still want to receive gmail notifications on my home screen (the app icon where the image shows how many emails) however I dont want it to play a sound.
I googled how to remove the sound, but all the walk throughs start with tapping a 'menu' button (three vertical square dots) at the bottom left in the gmail app. I dont see this menu button - see image below
Some have complained about not being able to change the LED or get repeat notifications for gmail. I stumbled on this last night and thought I would share. After upgrading to Gmail 4.3 on both of my devices (TF101 running Team EOS 4, and One S running LiquidSmooth 2.1), I had the ability to archive/delete from notifications. However, I noticed that this function was missing yesterday; it's gone back simply to "swipe to dismiss".
I've tried reinstalling, to no avail.
I've got a Samsung Stratosphere (I know booo) My phone rebooted and now it has the hardware info on the left hand side of the screen. I've posted a picture. It wont go on the mobile network at call (cant make calls).
I did a factory restore, unrooted and put the stock rom on, nothing works.
I have had my Epic 4g for two days now and I am having the some notification and email problems. I don't get notifications when new email is available. I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.

If I go to the Gmail app they are in there as unread but I'm not getting any kind of notification that I actually have new email unless I go in and manually check. Is anyone else having this problem or knows of a solution? This is getting to be an annoying problem.

I want to be able to still receive notifications popups, but I don't want sound to play on them. I know I can turn off sounds on all notifications but I only want to on Gmail.

I went into the LED options and unchecked "Email," but I'm not sure if that's just for the "Email" app itself, and not Gmail. I still get the LED flash when I have new Gmail, but it doesn't seem to happen *every* time! I still want the notification icon to appear, so I don't want to turn off Gmail notification altogether. I already turned off sound, now I just need to turn off the LED.

So what I can't find is how to get notifications of sent mails from my own accounts.I had this on my blackberry curve, where I would be notified of that.
