I'm looking for widgets...one widget for all would be nice.
but one that tells me my batter, 3g, how many bars, and what my status is (vibrate or not)
basically everything on the notification bar

My droid x signal pretty much always between -92dBm and -87dBm with 1-3 3g bars. My former droid eris would get -92dBm with 1 bar and also drain incredibly fast.
On the droid x, if I go into google maps, the circle of the cell tower appears and the place I live at is half way within the edge of the circle and the other half is outside of the circle. I always seem to be connected to this tower. Bad luck I guess that I'm on the outskirts of the circle.
Does anyone know how cell towers are distributed? Do they overlap sometimes?
I run pandora with the screen off for a half hour with the screen off and my battery is down to 70%. I have about 15% screen brightness and battery saving mode on.
yesterday, I was on meebo for an hour and 45 minutes and it was down to 60% from a full charge.
I use the GPS functions and My Tracks quite frequently on my DX. I was wondering if there was a way to check to see which satellites the DX locks on to and their strength - much like a GPS unit (Garmin, etc)?
I would like to use this information to check some settings while on trails as well as getting the Lat/Long of my position.
If I have to use an APP to do this can you recommend a good one?
First I want to acheive battery status and signal strength instantly. For Battery Status, we can use SystemProperties.get ("status.battery.level_raw") to get current battery level. This class is not in SDK reference, but we can see this function is used in BatteryService and other fields. I use it successfully But for Signal Strength, I only find the way to use onSignalStrengthChange(int asu) which only gives us an "asu", new version seems to support onSignalStrengthsChange(....). But now, is there better ways for exact signal strength?

View 3 Replies View RelatedBattery Left was the first thing I installed on my phone when I got it. My battery life has been terrible so I've been trying to track down the problem. I woke up today, unplugged my phone and didn't touch it for an hour. Battery Left says I have 70 percent left but the battery meter in the status bar showed full. I uninstalled battery left and installed Battstatt and it shows 90 percent (2 hours later). Anyone else have problems with battery left? I hope this fixes my battery problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm sure many of the "poor battery life" reports were pre-mature, as people didn't realize their new rechargable has to condition itself, but today I ran into a new situation. This is my second Droid, since replacing original, due to wanting to confirm a faulty antenna, and trying to solve the 3G->1x issue.
Reception at my house is a crap shoot, where moving my phone 6 inches on my desk make speed tests go from 1.5Mb to 300k. So today I'm at mom's, 2 miles away, and we are both equidistant from the VZ store, which is also 2 miles away. However at her house, I pretty much get (0) bars. I left my house with about a 95% charge, pulling it from the plug before I left. I used it maybe 15min to try to resolve her router issue. After 6 days, my battery was good for a at least 18-24hrs of light browsing and mail checking. Well today, It was down to 50% after 3 hours, while flipping back and forth from 3G ->1x. I had (0) bars most of the time and noticed that the battery was warmer than usual. Signal strength was between -95dBM and -110dBm. Now "almost" 5 hours after pulling from the plug, I'm down to 20%. If my hypothesis is correct, I bet the charge will last the night now that the channels have stabilized.
As of the last 2 weeks or so I would say, a few problems have come up with my D1.
The first is the GPS never can locate my phone anymore when im in maps. It just continues to say trying to locate, and does nothing else. It used to locate just fine, and basically has just stopped.
Second is I loose all of my signal bars and then have no service according to my phone.
Third is my battery life has just turned to complete crap. I had it fully charged this morning before I left at 10:30, and it was dead by 4. Did a few occasional texts, nothing else and it was done.
All of these things literally came out of no where, didn't change kernels or anything else that I can think of. I am running CM6 with one of P3's kernels.
i have been avoiding all widgets except the clock because i want to squeeze every bit of battery out of my droid. but does any know (someone who has alot of experience with android phones) how much widgets really drain on your battery. i mean do they really make a difference, or is it minscule. any advice?

I downloaded an app that puts the percentage in the status bar, but it's at the top left in notifications. I made some changes to the status bar and for the most part it went smooth other than the signal icon. I have a D3 with the Eclipse 3 rom. I used Ninjamorph went into framework , apps, systemui.apk and changed the png files of the signal bar png's. when I reboot the new image shows up but changes back to the old style when the 3g or 1x kicks in. do I need to change a different signal png?

Cause I take it, it will try to find an Orange signal in that country if they do have Orange there so will it charge me for that? (I'm on contract by the way). View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Lenovo a60 phone. It has dual SIM support. However i rarely keep the second SIM card activated which results in a no-signal icon beside the 1st SIM signal icon. Anyway i can remove the NO SIGNAL icon ONLY? I still want the signal strength of the second SIM to appear when SIM 2 is activated but i don't want the icon when SIM 2 is deactivated.
I believe it lies somewhere in the SystemUI.apk since that's how i removed the Vibration Indicator icon.

yes, it is . I charged it up Sunday night. Monday evening I still had over 60%. Monday night I did not plug it in, I tuned off 3G though. This morning the battery status still showed ~60%. So what did I do (or what did I NOT do)?
(1) I did not do the battery discharge-recharge thingy. BTW, if you really *fully* discharge a Li-ion battery you will kill it.
(2) I did not download any task killer/manager. This is supposed to be a smart phone to kill things when needed.
(3) I do not use the Home button at all. I always use the back button. my awake time is about 10%
(4) I do autosync, but my WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS is off.
I admit I am not a heavy user, though I have used up about 50 Mb data in 2 days. Peter

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am on 2.1 and couldn't get a god damn GPS signal yesterday while driving. Is this THAT much of a problem? I am about to throw this POS out of the window. It took me 2.5 hours to get somewhere yesterday which should have been a fucking hour. What, if anything, will Sprint do? I have had this since Nov last year and I want to get rid of it.
Also, this morning, no GPS on or anything and was on charge all night, the battery went to 50 percent according to the battery widget in an HOUR.
Also, widgets being moved from 1 home screen to another while it's being used and without MY interaction.
