Twice a day now my phone will delete all my sms texts.. I use Handcent.. Is there anything i can do to stop this?

I installed handcent and really really like it but how do I stop the default messaging app from popping up with alerts for new texts. It keeps popping up on the top bar whenever I get a text from anyone even after accessing that text in Handcent. It's not that big a deal but I need to go into my messaging app and view it to get rid of that notification. Is there a way to stop the notifications for the messaging app? Thank you.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post here. Got my Desire recently and i am loving the phone. Like other i was having battery issues but following the advice here i was able to extend the battery life considerably, so im hoping someone here may know something about an issue om having.
Im using the Handscent app for text messaging. However over the last week or so when i go to open a new message, the application freezes and shuts down. When i go to open it again all my messages are deleted. They are also missing in the standard messaging app that came with the phone.
Has this happened to anyone else? If it did did you find a way to stop it happening?
How do I get the default Sprint Messaging App to stop popping up when I receive a message? I turned off notifications for it but it still pops up and I get double windows for them and Chomp.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis may not be the best place for this, but I'm hoping someone else here has seen this. The stock messaging app won't stop notifications even if they're turned off...even if the app is deleted? If mms.apk is installed, it keeps notifying me even though it's notifications is turned off. If I remove mms.apk it keeps notifying me that I have 0 new messages. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and removing. I'm running a sdx kitchen rom with meatkernel 2.0.9/no jit and I have ChompSMS installed. I don't understand how the app can keep notifying me if it's uninstalled? Other than this, the rom has been rock solid with good bat life, so I don't want to flash to stock and start all over for the 5th time this week.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf someone sends me a group text, I usually end up with a bunch of replies from people I don't know. Same thing happens to everyone I send a group text to - they end up with a bunch of replies from people they don't know. This might be surprising to the software developers, but most of us have more than two friends, and those friends don't all know each other. It would be awesome if this feature could be turned off so that people aren't unnecessarily subjected to spam from others, who certainly don't intend for a large audience to see their replies.
This usually just results in confusion about who they're getting all these messages from, and I end up getting a bunch of "who is this" messages too. It's a really dopey feature because it definitely destroys privacy, and now my friends/family think they can't reply to my texts without others being able to read their responses.
Even I think twice about responding to a text now because I don't want a bunch of people who I don't know reading a response I intend only a friend to see, and I really don't want to end up with about 15 "who's this?" texts.
Is there any way to turn this off, or are we stuck with this "feature"?
I recently synced my Facebook contact to my phone so that I could have their Facebook pic as the pic on my phone. I do not want to have all my Facebook contacts in my Phone. I tried deleting them from my phone but it says that I have to delete them from Facebook in order to do so.

I use Handcent, and lately I have been finding it to be quite laggy and slow, even with cache cleared and all threads deleted. Is the only difference between stock and aftermarket, the fact that you can customize? I would much rather have a plain looking stock app that performs well, then a customizable aftermarket app that is slow. I am just looking for some opinions.

View 13 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else had an issue with the Droid completely eliminating email accounts? This has happened to me twice now and it's such a pain in the butt. I have one Exchange account for work and one Pop account (yahoo). Both times I've gone to access my email and the accounts were just gone (my gmail account however remained in tact). I have to go and add them in again and adding Yahoo as a Pop account is no picnic. Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening or if that's even possible?

The Gmail app does not delte the messages like the nmative app does. I have the native app set up with my work email and I need to keep messages around until I delete them. Just to stress have no problems with Gmail deleting just the native app which I have set up exclusively to my work email.

I have a terminal emulator installed, so I think that would be the place to start, but am unsure if I can delete anything that's not on the SD card. I'm more worried what may happen if I do this. My reasoning for doing this is that I hate the built in ringtones, and have placed mp3's on the sdcard under /Ringtones and they show up in my Ring tones (no need to use the media player to do so). I have to browse through the ton of crappy tones to select the ones I'd like (obviously this isn't really a space issue, more convenience )
View 13 Replies View RelatedEver since I got 2.1 my phone started adding words to the dictionary by itself. In some cases this is helpful but as it turns out its annoying. It mainly adds capitalized versions of words. for example when I'm in the middle of a sentence it says "You" instead of "you" etc. I delete it, but it keeps coming back. Any way to permanently stop this from happening?
