I'm new to Android and do not have a Android 2.2 based Mobile Handset. URL : - Android 2.2 Platform | Android Developers specifies "Messaging" is a built in application to the Android 2.2 platform. I would like to know, which applications comes under "Messaging" Feature / application?

Well I recently installed Nexfro. I like it a lot. No complaints Fabulous did a great job. However the 2.2 messaging app. I can't stand it and I loved the 2.1 messaging app (enough to just go back to 2.1 if I can't get it) so I was wondering if anyone could give me the .apk file so I could manually install it on my droid. Please and thanks . I'd do this myself, but I don't know how.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI don't know if I'm the only one who doesn't like the new stock Froyo messaging app (I doubt I am) but is there any way to switch out the new one with the old one. Personally I loved the old stock messaging app and I would LOVE to have it back. I know there's the whole issue of it not being compatible but if anyone has gotten it to work I would love to know. I don't want to have to go back to Handcent.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe reason why I am asking this is because I want to set myself up for the vanilla rom. From what I have read, the blur messaging us taken out. (Obviously) but despite its ugliness, I just love the fact that I can send video and if its too big, it redirects me to edit length. I am currently running handcent and handcent does not redirect me to video edit lite. So my question is what messaging ap will allow me to send videos the same way the stock app does? Another thing is that I can't even view videos sent to me from handcent, and almost every mms is sent as a slideshow (on both messaging apps). Is there any way around that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed the updated GalaX theme and it brought in a new messaging app that is similar to the cyanogen sms app. However it corrects the time stamp but I get 2 messages for every received sms one at the correct time and one and the 4 or 5 hour off time. Can I remove the motorola sms application or rename it? Anyone know what that is?
View 11 Replies View RelatedIn the Messaging app in 2.2 when I'm in a thread it shows a pic of me and a pic of the other person next to every text sent and received. In the 2.1 app it simply showed my name and the other persons name; no pic of us next to every text. Is there anyway to disable showing the pics in the 2.2 app? Really don't see the need to have a pic next to each text.

Problem:
Steps to Create force close everytime in Messaging:
1. Compose new message
2. Type in "D"
3. Type in "A"
4. *Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped (no wait button to choose)
Once A is typed it always force closes (40 times in a row).
I have a rooted DroidX and made the mistake of removing a few system apps, including Messaging.apk. Now I open the text message application and it closes right away. I tried copying package dumps (from another thread somewhere) to /system/apps/ and installing them, but I get a "Application not Installed" message. How can I get the phone to reinstall these applications?

Also noticed on some but not all of the text messages I get, the CB# appears on each one. Now I saw the setting in messaging that you can disable that, but I think that is for my text messaging going out to the other person correct? Is there any way to stop this from appearing in each text I receive? The weird thing is, it does not happen for all users in my contact list, just a few.

Whenever i download it i end up receiving 2 messages, one from my original sms that comes loaded on the phone and one from Handcent sms. View 8 Replies View Related75% of my phone use is attributed to text messaging. So I recently downloaded Handcent and I'm liking it a lot. It's a lot better than the bland default messaging application. I really like how customizable it is. My only gripes are that I wish I could change the physical Handcent icon itself and maybe rename it to "Messaging" or something, also wish the reminder notifications had a few more options. Other than that it's a great app. Any other good or better apps out there for text messaging?

It keeps popping up on the top bar whenever I get a text from anyone even after accessing that text in Handcent. It's not that big a deal but I need to go into my messaging app and view it to get rid of that notification. Is there a way to stop the notifications for the messaging app? Thank you.

My friend suggested it to me and I like its setup over the default Messaging app, so I wanted to delete it. But would deleting the default Messaging app also delete all the texts in general? Or would they carry over to the Handcent app and stay there even after deleting the Messaging app. I don't want to lose some of the texts that I already had.

I just changed to using Handcent SMS instead of the default messaging app and i cannot find out how to stop the notifications from the default messager app, because now it shows 2 notifications, one for each app, and select them, it will take me to the message, but i'll have to manually clear the notifications. I have it set to sync and have a good signal at home. I get e-mail just fine, but GV won't pull down the messages.
Recently trying to send a text to my wife I got this error back as a text from myself: "Message Delivered to XXXXXXXXXX as plain text. Destination does not support enhanced messaging service."
I've never received this message before. A quick google search told me it was because the message was over 160 characters, but on my old phone it would automatically split the message up into multiple texts. I can't be sure if I've sent a text with 160+ characters n my droid before.
Is there just an apk I can install of a themed black Messaging app? I don't want a whole theme, I actually like the stock, but I prefer the Msg app to be black like Fab's NexBeast/Fro since it's what I use most and the bright white gets annoying at night. I suppose I could just install Handcent, but I've had issues with it in the past.
