Motorola Droid :: Google Voice Voicemail - Notifications About New Voicemail

Nov 7, 2009

I got the Droid yesterday, and I'm trying to use Google Voice *just* for voicemail. However, it seems like I never get notifications about new voicemail, unless the app is open. Also, recorded voicemail is very soft when it's played back, almost too soft to hear.

Motorola Droid :: Google Voicemail

Apr 5, 2010

I use my google voice number for work phone calls and I use goolge voicemail for all of my voicemails. Google voicemail was working properly when people called either my normal phone number or google voice number but now when people call my google voice number, my office land line voicemail picks up the voicemail and not google voicemail. Anyone know how to get all voicemails in my google voicemail inbox?

Motorola Droid X :: App To Get Notification When You Have Voicemail

I'm using the app Easy Reminder to get constant notifications when I have a missed call or a text message. But it doesn't work on voicemails. Anyone know of something that will work on all three?

I can't understand why this isn't base functionality in Android. Even my plain old basic cell phone from 10 years ago did this.

Motorola Droid :: Get Rid Of Voicemail Notification

Jul 24, 2010

Out of nowhere, I got a voicemail notification in my notification bar.(Cassette looking thing) I don't remember ever seeing it because I've had Google Voice for so long.
I've tried Powering on/off, battery out, uninstalling GV, hour on phone with VZ tech support. The notification bar doesn't give me a clear option.
If I call*86, it says I have no voice mails.
This notification is very annoying and I don't want to do a factory reset..

Motorola Droid :: Deleting Default Ringtones

Jan 25, 2010

Anyone know if we can delete the ring tones that shipped? I have a terminal emulator installed, so I think that would be the place to start, but am unsure if I can delete anything that's not on the SD card. I'm more worried what may happen if I do this. My reasoning for doing this is that I hate the built in ringtones, and have placed mp3's on the sdcard under /Ringtones and they show up in my Ring tones (no need to use the media player to do so). I have to browse through the ton of crappy tones to select the ones I'd like (obviously this isn't really a space issue, more convenience )

Motorola Droid :: Deleting Dictionary Words?

Apr 19, 2010

Ever since I got 2.1 my phone started adding words to the dictionary by itself. In some cases this is helpful but as it turns out its annoying. It mainly adds capitalized versions of words. for example when I'm in the middle of a sentence it says "You" instead of "you" etc. I delete it, but it keeps coming back. Any way to permanently stop this from happening?

Motorola Droid :: Deleting A Google Backup?

Nov 17, 2009

Can't seem to find an answer to this. I had to get a replacement Droid (1st one had a very loose screen) and really wanted to have a fresh start with the new phone - no apps, etc. Since I had the backup thing checked on the 1st phone, the 2nd phone reloaded all the apps from the 1st phone. I've tried the various resets (with backup turned off), but nothing gets me back to a blank, clean phone.

Keep in mind that I'm not talking about the Contacts or Gmail being pulled in (that's fine) - I just don't want the apps & settings from the 1st phone. Uninstalling the apps doesn't quite get me to a clean install. Anyone know of a way to delete/turn off that backup that's sitting in the Google cloud?

Motorola Droid X :: Voicemail Password Not Working

Aug 27, 2010

Change the voicemail number in the settings. E.g. if your password is 1234 put *86,,,1234#, (, is pause - you must put a pause after the # - otherwise it won't work) I have tried that advice and still cant get it to work. I have put from 1 to 4 pauses inbetween the 86 and the passcode. That still isnt working. I hear no attempt for the phone to put in the passcode.

So to the problem, I recorded both my name and custom greeting. When people get my voicemail, they hear the standard greeting "Please leave your name and Google voice will try to contact 'Thuyet To'". I went to all the settings, changed everything to play my custom greeting, but I'm still getting nothing.

Android :: Motorola Droid Deleting Email Accounts?

Jan 13, 2010

Has anyone else had an issue with the Droid completely eliminating email accounts? This has happened to me twice now and it's such a pain in the butt. I have one Exchange account for work and one Pop account (yahoo). Both times I've gone to access my email and the accounts were just gone (my gmail account however remained in tact). I have to go and add them in again and adding Yahoo as a Pop account is no picnic. Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening or if that's even possible?

Motorola Droid :: Google Voice Voicemail Notifications

Feb 17, 2010

I use google voice for voice mail. I have it set up to send me a gmail when I get a voicemail, and it usually works great. But on my train commute, there is one section that is underground and does not get any voice or data service. This is followed by another section that gets voice service but no data service. When someone tries to call me when I am in the no voice/data service area, I do not get a voice mail notification until I am back in the full voice/data service area. Due to the train being stopped in the voice but no data service for some time, I did not get the notification for about 20 minutes.

My question is, if I set up google voice to SMS instead of email voicemail notifications to me, will I then get the notifications as soon as I am back in voice service territory? That is, does SMS use voice while email requires data service? I have a limited text message plan, so I was hoping to not use up text messages with voicemail notifications.

Also, I never received a notification from the Missed Call app. Is this because google voice picks up the call before it even reaches the phone when I am not in a voice service area?
