View 11 Replies View RelatedIn my android application i have a video list screen,a buffering screen and a videoplayer screen.
As soon as the user clicks an item from videolist screen ,he is navigated to buffering screen and then to videoplayer.
In the buffering screen i am using Async task and doing the loading process in on background process.
Now my issue is like the user if has selested a video then gets navigated to buffering screen. But if the user clicks back when he is in buffering screen then initially he is getting navigated to videolist screen but immediately after that again he is navigated to videoplayer screen.
What i would like to have is either the back button should be made disable in buffering or should prevent the player tostart if back is clicked.
I downloaded Launcher Pro a few days ago and am loving it. As most of you know that after downloading it, pressing the home button gives you the option of which home screen launcher that you want to..well.. launch..either HTC Sense or Launcher Pro. Well this morning I picked Launcher Pro, but accidently clicked the "don't ask me this again" box before that, so now I'm stuck on Launcher Pro and can't get back to my, or any, HTC Sense launcher. I've gone all through my settings and can't figure it out. I'd like to either get back to my old HTC Sense home screen, get to the DEFAULT HTC Sense homescreen, or get back to being able to have the option to pick which one I want to launch.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I am using any app and press the home button, the home screen blacks out for a few secs and it takes around 10 sec to get all the icons back and before I can start using my phone again. I am using a non rooted mytouch 3g.
This problem does not happen if I exit an app by pressing the back button. It becomes very annoying at times.
Ive had open home downloaded for over a month and i only used it for a short period of time before switching back to the default homepage setting. Now, because of the new features added to Open Home i want to switch back, and every time i open 'Open Home' it only opens until i hit the home key. Then it does not ask me what i want to use as my default as it used to. I went to settings>applications>manage applications>open home to clear all defaults but it is not highlighted for me to select it. How can i set Open Home to my default again?

When I hit the back button at this view, instead of navigating to the previous screen, application itself gets closed. Could anybody please let me know how to go back to previous screen.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have an Activity with a list that is bound to a ListAdapter reading data into a ArrayList from a database. All is well when the data is first loaded. While the Activity is open and the list is being displayed it is possible and likely that the data in the database will be updated by a service but the list does not reflect the changes because the ArrayList does not know about the changes. If the Activity is no longer in the foreground as would be the case if the user goes to the home screen and then is brought back to the foreground I would like for the Activity to not display what it did prior but rather reload the data using the ListAdapter the view is bound to. I think something needs to call finish() but I am not sure what.
This is what I have in the Activity.
CODE:.......................
I have a widget that contains 4 buttons to show 4 stock prices, each of them will launch into the same activity Quote.class to show stock details. In onUpdate(), it will set up the pendingIntent with extras with stock symbol. After I hit button A, it goes to Quote activity that shows stock A. Then I hit the BACK button to the homescreen, Quote activity calls onDestroy() and when I hit button B, stock B will show properly. However, when i hit HOME button after it shows stock A, the Quote activity only calls onStop without calling onDestroy(), then as i hit button B, it will call onStart() and it shows the same instance that shows stock A.
CODE:............
Originally I thought adding a flag in the Intent should solve this problem. But I have tried
i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_MULTIPLE_TASK or FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK or FLAG_ACTIVITY_NO_HISTORY), none of them makes any difference.
So is there any ways to make it work? How can i remove the history stack from HOME button? How can I call onCreate in Quote activity and get new extras when i hit button B?
I was wondering if there is a way to prevent landscape mode when on the home screens. love launcherpro, but it would be perfect if this could be disabled.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI saw Live Home today in the market. It looks exactly like ADW Launcher, but allows use of icon packs and adds a few more feature which I don't use (cube transitions between home screens for example). But Live Home allows icon packs ... which is big. Anyone have an opinion about this? ADW seems very stable. And I don't want to use Live Home if he is ripping off ADW (he did say it is based on ADW thought)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a some strange issue. I would like to get the package name of the current home screen. lets say we have two home screens : 1. default android home theme 2. 3rd party home theme. Assume both are installed and current home theme is 3rd party home theme.
Now I would like to get the package package name of the current home theme (3rd party). Is there any api which can give the current home screen package name? I can get the package name in ddms. But I want it pro grammatically.
I don't have the accurate terminology and maybe that's a part of my question. In the android home screen, we have the ability to slide the screen left and right and display multiple pages. Each of these pages has a different set of icons. in the mac world these would be called "spaces". What is it called in the android world. More importantly is there a standard control that can be used to achieve this effect ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my screens all set up using launcher pro, I want to change a few things around or just start from scratch. Is there way to save my screens and then start from scratch? Or do I need to save it then remove all my widgets and start again that way? I want to be able to go back to it if I don't like what I come up with.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way to imitate the Launcher look and feel? I mean having three full screen views which can be switched between by sliding/dragging right or left. I had a look at the source code to see how it was done and found that the magic is done in the "com.android.launcher" package. I take it that it is inadvisable to use the same classes as those in that package due to them not being part of the official SDK and therefore up for change at any point? If so, is there a good way to get a similar effect from the official SDK? The Sliding Drawer would have given me what I needed if it was possible to have more than one defined, but that seems to not be supported. (the handles stack on top of each other) So you know what problem I'm trying to solve, here is some background: I've got the an application which shows a photo. I want to maximize the viewing area of the photo so it takes up most of the screen. At the same time I'd like the user to easily be able to bring into view the metadata of the photo. That is where I wanted the 'slide android view into view' functionality similar to that found in the Launcher and/or the Sliding Drawer.

I use this layout for portrait:

This way if I use the DPAD the widget is focusable but the click doesn't work. The touch still works but the widget is not displayed as focused.
I was running launcher and although it was clunky, it was fine then I went back to check something on the regular home app and I accidentally hit the default key when opening home now launcher wont launch. Where so I set the default back?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an Eris and running 2.1 (not rooted) Just started using Launcher Pro. One problem to resolve. I installed Beautiful Widgets - Home as I thought it acted the same as it does on HTC Sense. The location is good, the time is good but when I touch the weather part of the widget, it stays static. I expected to get to see the "forecast" for the next few days.
Also I expected it to be somewhat animated when it is invoked (fog, rain drops, sun throbbing, windshield wipers) as that's the way it is on HTC. I thinks some of you are using this app here on LP. Can you tell me what settings to use to get these features (animated weather and weather forecast) to work? Do I have to download and use a skin other than the default one? If this is a Beautiful Widgets developer question. Does someone have the developer's email as it's not provided in the site (in France I believe).
How would you create a Windows 7-like home screen replacement, on Android?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI`v tried a few different replacement home programs & at the moment quite like Desktop. I did like ADW, but the launcher and any themes were `stuck` in the internal memory - which I`ve got precious little left. Desktop seems to run great - but - when I connect the phone to the PC on a usb the launcher stops (as the sd card is unmounted). When I remove the usb I can reselect the launcher but the widgets disappear. Is this something specific to Desktop, the desire, android or just me ! I didn't seem to have a problem when running Launcher pro.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSorry if this sounds silly, but what are the benefits of using a launcher or home screen replacement (launcherpro, ADW, etc?) I mean, they look like they are copies of Sense UI, so I really do not see the benefit if you are on an HTC phone. I could definitely see if for other Android devices, but I am just confused as to what the benefit is.
