I was running launcher and although it was clunky, it was fine then I went back to check something on the regular home app and I accidentally hit the default key when opening home now launcher wont launch. Where so I set the default back?

How do you get the default home launcher back?. I'm presently using the 2.1 launcher and I'm not liking it. At one point when I first restored the ROM it gave me a choice and I selected the use as default button... how do I get back to home the Launcher.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've been using LP for about a week (it's great BTW!) and this just started to happen so it could have something to do with the latest update. I've set LP at the default launcher and everything works great. However, if I ever long press the "home" button, go to an application, then press "home" again I get the popup asking me which launcher I want to use. I check the "set as default" box then select LP and everything is good again. It all works until I long press home the next time, then the remembered default is gone and I get the prompt again. I've tried rebooting, clearing defaults, etc.

As most of you know that after downloading it, pressing the home button gives you the option of which home screen launcher that you want to..well.. launch..either HTC Sense or Launcher Pro. Well this morning I picked Launcher Pro, but accidently clicked the "don't ask me this again" box before that, so now I'm stuck on Launcher Pro and can't get back to my, or any, HTC Sense launcher. I've gone all through my settings and can't figure it out. I'd like to either get back to my old HTC Sense home screen, get to the DEFAULT HTC Sense homescreen, or get back to being able to have the option to pick which one I want to launch.

I keep getting prompt to select which launcher(launcher or twlauncher) when I press the home button. I would select set as default and then select twlauncher. This would work fine and I could do what I want and the home button acts normally. BUT if I long press the home button to bring up task manager and a list of recent apps, it would break the default setting on twlauncher. I could go to setting and manage app and see that the default on twlauncher is now cleared even though I did not manually clear it. I tried checking set as default and then select launcher. It too won't stick AFTER I long press the home button.
Long story short, I downloaded several launchers from the market and none of them will stay set as default IF I long press the home button. It breaks the default every time and ask me to select the launcher to use when I press the home button. Now this would be great if I could just delete all the other launcher and have only one but I can't delete the stock launcher or twlauncher.
So the first time this happen, I was driving down the road using telenav when I see the prompt to select which launcher(something that I've never seen after using the phone for 2 weeks).
1. Start task manager and kill all active app and clear memory from RAM
2. Clear defaults from manage application....twlauncher
3. Click home button, click set as default and then launcher instead of twlauncher- still does not stick after long press home button.
4. Manage application...twlauncher CLEAR DATA (sure enough my neatly organized homepage and apps folder was reset to stock).
5. Pull battery
6. Cycle power on and off.
7. Gave up after 24 hours and factory reset the phone.
8. Went on my merry way and reinstall apps and customizing home page and apps pages and so on.
9. In hindsight, I should have long press home button every time I installed a new app to see which one will break the default.
10. Phone works fine for 24 hours and then it mysteriously acts up again. It ask me to choose which launcher again.
11. Went back to googling and tried the following which did not work:
a. clear media hub data and default
b. installed Sprint "clean" ID and then later deleting it.
c. installed go launcher and see if it will stick
d. installed launcher pro
e. installed home switcher
f. I don't have Qik or some child lock apps
g. search XDA and found about 15 threads and tried everything in those thread short of using Titanium to freeze one launcher.
Right now I just won't long press the home button to bring up task manager or recent apps and everything will work just fine. Minor annoyance but I guess I can live with it until the ICS update.
When I do various operations on bluetooth application ... scanning, renaming and discoverable after some time non of these works... if I try to change name, it is not reflecting. is it problem with Activity/service? How to check whether these are still running? How to debug such cases?

Basically, when it happens, this error pops up when you turn your phone on, and the phone won't boot up. There's nothing you can do other than hard-reset, unfortunately, by switching it off, holding down both volume buttons, and then switching it on. You then select 'clear user data'. I am somewhat peeved, as it'll take me hours to get my phone set up again, but I'm happy it's alive again! And this time I'm going to make a backup.

It's came with android ice cream sandwich 4.0.1+rooted+unlock bootloader Working flawlessly until i installed task killer app.
I used it,and after several times i killed app,suddenly there is pop up notification came.("Unfortunately Launcher/Market/Gmail/Emulator,and many else has stopped")
I reboot the tablet,but when it turn on,it is just bootloop.I reset again,and it doesnt appear anything on the screen unless the black screen only (with sometime light flashing from the screen).
Then i flashed and format it to gingerbread (2.3.4) rom from their official web And yes,it is work and finally i can boot into home screen and do any else.
But after several time turning off and on,the problem came back again (bootloop and black screen) but somehow i manage to go to recovery mode and do factory reset+wipe data and cache,but it's useless.
I flashed it again with the same rom,and it's start working.And goes..after a while..the problem back again.
I choose to flash back to ice cream sandwich.When i turn on,then goes the same first problem at the begining ("Unfortunately Launcher/Market/Gmail/Emulator,and many else has stopped").
I reset again then new problem came out.

Rather than use that guide,i choose to flash to gingerbread rom.Then it's fine,until..you know,reboot the device and back again to bootloop.
Is it because the task killer app?Or it is hardware failure?or maybe there is some file that has been deleted/terminated?
Wasn't sure exactly how to ask this, but here we go So, for example, I installed "Dialer One", a dialer replacement.So whenever I hit the "Phone" button, it asks how I want to complete the action. Using Dialer One, or Phone. And it gives me the option to "Use by default for this action".So, lets say I want to use Dialer One by default, but then I change my mind. How do I set it back to the default Phone.Obviously, this question applies to more than just the phone app. After writing all that I think the simple way to ask my question is- I really just want to know how to undo the 'use by default for this action' choices I may make in the future.

It remembers the setting until I again long-press and use the app switcher.My question: how do I get this to stick? What 'app' is used to do the app switch by default, and is there anything else I could use to do this? I would hate to be stuck with this permanently, and I'm not thinking it is LauncherPro's fault. The only problem is that I have to force quit my default homescreen (in this case it's called "LG Homescreen")--task-killers won't work and I have to go into the application settings to force it. (I got it from bais on MoDaCo). It is an apk and it has been tested and proven to work on FroYo and �clair (not sure about Cupcake/Donut). Install through adb or a file explorer. I tried it out, not too bad. Still prefer LauncherPro but I can show this off if an iPhone fanboy talks about how great iPhone UI is. Couple of notes: -To edit bottom dock, go into menu, press edit, this allows you to move icons around between dock and menu. -To edit order of homescreens or # of homescreens, go home, press menu and then edit. Couple of flaws: -Cannot set your own icons for bottom dock (you can change which apps are there but cannot use custom icons). Cannot set a default homescreen.

I checked my application directory and it doesnt exist and i also tried disabling HTC Sense and it dont have the option to choose the default launcher. I do remember having it at some point so i must have accidentally uninstalled it somewhere down the line. Is there a way to get it back or download from somewhere. I know there are other Launchers out there like Launcher Pro but i just want to get back the stock launcher. I even tried a factory wipe hoping to get it back and nada. Google search hasnt helped either.
