I was wondering if there is a way to prevent landscape mode when on the home screens. love launcherpro, but it would be perfect if this could be disabled.

How come the vibrant does not support landscape mode on the home screens? Sprint variation of the Galaxy S is able to do this. Froyo ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk I first just want to say that this phone is so nice, and I was so scared to get it from everybody on this thread complaining but I don't see why.
-I had no mounting problems.
-Memory is awesome compared to the g1
-I don't see no lag. I think people say this because of the vibrate when touch method samsung has on it.
-I actually like the touchwiz interface over the boring silver android. Messaging is awesome with the picture of the friend you messaging.
-The cube is pointless though, but friends love it.
-It's plastic but it really don't feel cheap at all.
-Battery life isn't too good, but what smartphone battery is? What else do you expect from a phone with that nice of a display screen.
-No reboots
-I haven't had a force close yet, but when I had the g1 i had at least 10 a day.
-Has to be the nicest camera phone since my old n95.
-There was complaints about overlapping objects on the home screen. I love that it can do that.
-My only complaint is the 4 buttons on the home screen. They are just simply pointless.
I feel alot are just being too picky. This has to be the best android phone behind the nexus one. Some questions though...
1.Can the home screen go into landscape mode?
2. Anyway to lower the brightness of the camera flash. It's blinding lol
3.Im trying to install some apps from my g1. (cracked) Most install but some don't. Is this problem because the apps are only for android 1.6 + ?
4. Anyone have any super thin case's? Where did you find them?
5. On the commercial about this phone with the comic artist. He changed the color of the picture with some app. What app is that? Is it pre-installed?
6.Does the phone lag any with a new keyboard installed? I was going to install swype or better keyboard.
7.Is there not any light's to show that the phone is charging, or when you have notifications?
8.This might sound ******ed, but is the screen glass?
I searched for this but couldn't find a solution. Is there anyway to get the home screen and subsequent side screens to go into landscape mode? I've seen some other Android Phones/Tablets doing this and would like to be able to do so. Or does anyone know if this will be an option in the 2.1 update? I heard that the Droid used to do this, and then some update messed it up, but then saw it going into landscape mode on the video they posted today of the Droid running 2.1.

View 32 Replies View RelatedHome screen used to do landscape immediate and always. Now it doesn't do landscape at all unless I slide the keyboard out and it pops into landscape immediately. Then when I close the keyboard it goes back to portrait even when I'm holding the phone in landscape. Not sure how to fix this, help please.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI got my Droid 2 (or as it is called in Germany Milestone 2) just this week. I got two minor things that are bugging me. (see the other one here Is it possible to reconfigure the keyboard?) Otherwise I'm loving my new phone. I got the auto-adjust option for the Display turned on but for some reason the screen won't switch to the landscape mode as long as I don't pull out the physical keyboard. That is only the case for the homescreens and the main app menu. Otherwise it works fine. For example, if I open the settings I get to look at them in landscape mode with the keyboard in our out.

I posted this from my Droid, just to prove to myself that I could real keyboard, big hands no problemo. Few typos, but easily fixed. No worse than I do on a life-size keyboard at home.Droid looks to be about the size of a busines card next to my big thumb. I can still somehow peck the keys fairly quick.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI discovered something unusual today. I've been using a lot of the physical keyboard, especially for long winded texts and e-mails. I have tried and tried to get used to the landscape on-screen keyboard to no avail. I've tried Better Keyboard (and yes, it's better), and the HTC keyboard (that unfortunately doesn't fill the screen). They both have their benefits, but I cannot accurately and consistently type out a message on any of them. My problems: If I type too fast, half of the letters don't register. I've tried pressing harder, using a lighter touch, neither had any affect. I can't get used to the position I need to have my thumb in to actually register clicking certain letters on the keyboard. I always think I've got it, but then I look up at what I just typed (I find myself staring at the keys I'm pressing to make sure they're the right ones) and it is complete gibberish. Where I'm going with this, anyways, is the portrait keyboard. I used it a few times today just out of laziness, I didn't feel like turning the screen or opening up the device to use the physical. I noticed something unusual; I don't make the same mistakes on this tiny little keyboard, and I can actually type relatively quickly. My sentences weren't coming out meaningless, and I wasn't seeing unregistered presses. So my question to you is this - has anybody else noticed similar problems? I don't really think it's a fault of the phone. I think I'm just not used to on-screen keyboards (never used one before) and thus cannot type well on it. I'm hoping that - at some point - a multi-touch enabled keyboard comes out, because I feel like some of my problems are due to hitting two keys in rapid succession, and having one or both not register. Until then, I will continue to practice with it, but I just can't figure out why I can type on the tiny portrait keyboard and not on the full landscape version.

Also, is there an app to backup my apps with all the data. I keep having to input my login and passwords again for Flyscreen and Lookout and I'd like to have my text messages backed up as well.

Why the flip do the widgets lock into such ridiculous places!? Sometimes you could fit a whole other line of regular icons in the space that they leave!

Why is it that certain apps or websites don't work in landscape mode and your forced to type whatever with one finger in the portrait mode? Point in case the Google quick search will not switch to landscape mode when you turn the phone sideways.

I just wonder has anyone ever come to a situation where an app or a game needs a d-pad, but doesn't support the landscape mode, so you have no choice but to use the phone in portrait with the slider open.
and in that case would the "up" button(in landscape mode) become the "right" button, or does it still recognize it as an UP button? Is it comfortable to hold the phone that way?
I could imagine some games that are designed for the Hero/magic would require you to use the d-pad/trackball.
I don't know if this is like a default option but i've found thet my X's entire OS goes into landscape mode, including app tray, browser, apps, everything. I haven't downloaded any apps that do this and while its in this mode it wont rotate back to portrait. The only way I could change it back is by rebooting. I haven't found a way to voluntarily recreate this, it just happens, maybe by a certain combination of keys,but I'd like to know how to recreate this. I'm sure its probably really obvious so forgive me for my obliviousness
