Installed Handcent and I'm getting double notifications when a new text comes in. I recall going into System and disabling the notification for the standard Messaging app but I can't seem to find it.

I'll be talking on the phone and might receive a text message or gmail from someone. My phone immediately vibrates twice to notify me. Not only is this unpleasant when I have the phone to my ear, but it's also an annoyance to the person I'm talking to as they hear the vibrate sounds. In fact any time I'm talking to my girlfriend and my phone vibrates, she asks "who is texting you now?" I really just want the notification turned off while I'm on a call. Is there a way to prevent this from happening while on the phone?

I just switched from the droid, and was used to having all the different LED colors that I could use for different groups of people. Is this not possible on the Incredible? That would really suck.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe scenario: My phone is sleeping. I get a text message. I have Handcent. I open the notification but the sound continues going off. I can't figure out how to interupt it. I have tried the volume keys, they don't work. I have tried the power/sleep key, it doesn't work. I have also tried swiping down the notification bar and opening the message from there but it still doesn't silence the sound.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBet you are all thinking here's another idiot that doesn't know how to turn off notifications in the default android sms app?After installing Handcent I immediately disabled notifications in the default app so that only Handcent was generating them. This worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago when the default app started generating them. The option is definitely 100% disabled so I have no idea why it is still generating them. To make it worse even if I go into all messages with both Handcent and the default app my LED remains blue.

I still get double notifications.Open stock sms, hit menu, hit setting, uncheck auto retrieve, uncheck received notification.What else do i have to do?By the way, I'm having the EVO.

However I have been messing around with trying to delete/block programs that I don't need or want to see and I don't think I could have uninstalled the stock program because I'm still getting double notifications (one from stock and one from handcent), so I was going to go to the stock one and disable notifications.But I can't find it anywhere on my system whatsoever. Even when I get the notification pop-up it doesn't give me an option to open the whole program, just the notification and option to reply. So is there somewhere it could be hiding that I'm not looking? Or can I reinstall it, if so how?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I recently rooted my phone to 2.1. Great btw! but that is not the point. When I get a text message, I get a series of notifications. I get one from the stock phone's stock txt msg app, and one from the phone, which link to the stock app. Plus, if i download handsent, thats 3 notifications per text! So I take the stock txt msg app notifications off and everything so that one does not notify me anymore. But I still get a notification from my phone, not the stock txt app. I dont even know what app or program is notifying me of a text!!. The icon on the notification bar is a postcard (similar to the stock txt app). When I pull down the notification bar menu, the icon is an opened envelope. When I click it to check, it directs me to the stick txt app. It is weird and annoying. I just want my handsent app to notify me. How can I go about doing that? Any help would be great. There was some talk about this, but no resolution. Anyone else have this problem?

Whenever I receive a notification my phones both vibrates and makes the notification sound twice really fast. How can I change this to only have it do this once? It does it so fast that it cuts off the first one before the sound is finished. I don't have any special song or anything set as the notification just one of the standard ones on the phone.

Buzz again and Droid! Again. So I think I got two texts when I have one. I don't have handecent or anything. After uninstalling, I am now receiving two SMS notifications when I receive a text. One a white envelope, another a green bubble with "SMS" written in it. I have the phone in a holster and there are times such as driving or other times when getting the phone out to turn off the notifier is not easy or practical.I do want to know that one came in but letting the tone run its course is annoying both to me and anyone around.Is there an app for this or a setting I missed? I have gone into sounds and selected notification sound and expected there to be an option for silent among the other sounds but no dice. And I don't see any other way to turn it off. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem or knew of any possible ways to fix it.I was thinking it might have been a bug with the app Missed Call, but I've played with all the settings on there and it hasn't changed. I don't know what else could be causing it.
