I love Handcent. Not so much Messaging App. I have the notifications disabled in Messaging App, but the damn thing is still doing it! I want Handcent notifications as they will also go away once you tap them to read the message, but the one from Messaging is remaining even after I click it to see the message.

I have had my Epic 4g for two days now and I am having the some notification and email problems. I don't get notifications when new email is available. I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent for my messaging. For the last two days I have been experiencing some slow messaging. By this I mean that when I send a message or receive a message, there is a delay before the message being sent or received pops up on my screen. I don't know why that is. Sometimes it is delayed for 15 seconds before showing on the screen. I have not done anything to cause this change. Otherwise the handcent has been working perfectly.

My friend suggested it to me and I like its setup over the default Messaging app, so I wanted to delete it. But would deleting the default Messaging app also delete all the texts in general? Or would they carry over to the Handcent app and stay there even after deleting the Messaging app. I don't want to lose some of the texts that I already had.

I feel like I am completely missing something because I don't see an option to turn the stock messaging system off or to make Handcent my primary messaging service. As a result, every time I get a text I get two notifications and the message pops up in both applications.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used Handcent for a while and I really liked it, however you can't send MMS using it for whatever reason which is a big deal breaker for me.I uninstalled it and went back to the original messaging application, but now it just closes randomly.Like I'll open it and it will close instantly. Then I open it again and it works fine.Other times it will open fine, but then I'll try to open up an conversation and it closes automatically, then when I open it again everything works fine.It is very annoying. It just closes out to the home screen. I've deleted all my existing messages and I've tried resetting my phone, nothing seems to help.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was prompted to update to Kit Kat on my Samsung Galaxy S3 this morning. The updated downloaded & installed without any issues - but now the same 3 notifications are constantly displayed on my phone. If I clear, they come back. Same for when I re-boot my phone:

It has only happened since this update and it's getting very irritating having these display permanently and come back seconds after I clear each time.
I installed handcent and really really like it but how do I stop the default messaging app from popping up with alerts for new texts. It keeps popping up on the top bar whenever I get a text from anyone even after accessing that text in Handcent. It's not that big a deal but I need to go into my messaging app and view it to get rid of that notification. Is there a way to stop the notifications for the messaging app? Thank you.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded handcent and I made it my default messenger. When I get a text message I get a notification from Handcent as well as the stock messenger. So my phone vibrates twice and I get two notifications. The only way I can get the notification icon off the top left is to clear it. When I click it, its just takes me to handcent.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBet you are all thinking here's another idiot that doesn't know how to turn off notifications in the default android sms app?After installing Handcent I immediately disabled notifications in the default app so that only Handcent was generating them. This worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago when the default app started generating them. The option is definitely 100% disabled so I have no idea why it is still generating them. To make it worse even if I go into all messages with both Handcent and the default app my LED remains blue.

Removing / barring the pre-update issues with the native messaging app on the phone, which one of these do you prefer? I am currently using the native app, seems fine to me, I like that I can link contacts to FB etc. Not necessarily looking for something that plagiarize's the iPhone messenger (cartoon bubbles), but I am always open to something new if it is better than the app preloaded on the phone. If you don't use the native app, is there a widget for Handcent or Chomp (like the native) to make viewing and responding easy?

And those look different (they have the green text bubble as the icon). Can anyone clue me in as to what that 2nd notification is below the blue Handcent icon? And can I get rid of it? I'd like to keep the text messages private is why I ask - I have Handcent and the stock Messages under App Protector. And I have Handcent's option checked to not show messages in the bar, just the notification.

So I said i'll bear with it for a bit till I see which one I like best... I though Chomp was a lil better than handcent so i went them...
Then I kept getting double notifications even when turning off the stock messaging notifications....
So I said lemme give the stock app another try.... I can't front, its nice! I think I might even run with it for a little while to see if I like it enough to use all the time...

I still get double notifications.Open stock sms, hit menu, hit setting, uncheck auto retrieve, uncheck received notification.What else do i have to do?By the way, I'm having the EVO.

The stock messaging app won't stop notifications even if they're turned off...even if the app is deleted? If mms.apk is installed, it keeps notifying me even though it's notifications is turned off. If I remove mms.apk it keeps notifying me that I have 0 new messages. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and removing. I'm running a sdx kitchen rom with meatkernel 2.0.9/no jit and I have ChompSMS installed. I don't understand how the app can keep notifying me if it's uninstalled? Other than this, the rom has been rock solid with good bat life, so I don't want to flash to stock and start all over for the 5th time this week.

This is really annoying mainly because sometimes I've already read the message and replied or closed it, but now I have an annoying notification stuck there. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions on dealing with it (other than just dealing with it )?
