HTC Droid Eris :: System Panel Light - Cached Application (inactive)

Jun 9, 2010

I use system panel light to check what is running in my background, just to have an idea. My question is, what is a cached application (inactive)? I am wondering, because I am trying to optimize my battery life and I want to know how this phone works with things running in the background. Should I end those applications that are cached, or are the really not doing anything sitting there?

General :: Android Shell Command To Check If Process Is Cached

Sep 9, 2012

I am wondering what terminal command I can use to check if a process has been cached. On my Sprint Galaxy Nexus, rooted, with the latest build of the Paranoid Android jelly bean rom, I can go to my settings, click on apps, swipe to the "Running Apps" list, and click on the button at the top of the screen that says "Show Cached Processes," and that displays the list that I am trying to access. My reasoning for doing this, is to use "Secure Settings" in conjunction with "Tasker" to check if my "Groove IP" application is running. Initially, I was trying to use "pgrep -l com.*" and check that list for "com.gvoip" too see if "Groove IP" is running in the tray (pull down menu), but if the process is cached, it still shows up in that list. How to get a list of cached processes from terminal.

Jelly Bean :: Permanently Have Email Client Cached In Memory?

Oct 6, 2013

I am using MailDroid Pro and like it alot.If I close/minimize the app using the "home" button when I go to open it again it opens and populates my messages very fast (instantaneously)..But, if i close the app using the "back" button; when I go to open it again the app opens quickly but it takes longer to populate the messages.

It is not like anything is broken. I try to close it each time with the "home" button but it is easier to tap the back button than it is to have to physically push the "home" button.is there someway to permanently keep the app process running so no mater how i close it will populate quickly when opened?

I have this phone running pretty nice since rooting it and freezing/uninstalling all the crap and installing XPrivacy (awesome app!), getting the email how I want it is the only thing I am not liking.

Just curious as to what I am going to mess up? Will i just have to personalize the homescreen again, put widgets up, reconnect to fb, twitter, myfaves, etc. It's not going remove any 3rd party apps, just make me create new widgets, etc..?

Android :: Load Images In OpenGL Without Having Thin Outline Appear Around Images?

Nov 2, 2009

I'm basically using the same method of loading bitmaps in OpenGL that the SpriteMethodTest example uses and have been unable to get rid of an annoying outline that appears around all of my images.

For example, If I were to load an image of a white circle on a white background, I would expect to see nothing. Instead, I would see my circle because its edge would be gray. In SpriteMethodTest, I replaced the background image with white and was able to see that the edges of the android images flying around also don't seem to be rendered correctly.

Does anyone know how to load images in OpenGL without having a thin outline appear around the images?

Android :: Adding Some Nine Patch Images Breaks All Of My Other Images

Apr 6, 2010

I'm working to convert some background images to nine patch so they scale better on different phones.
The problem is that if I have the following resource structure: drawable-hdpi/background.png drawable-hdpi/button.png drawable-mdpi/background.png drawable-mdpi/button.png drawable-ldpi/background.png drawable-ldpi/button.png and then I drop a new drawable-hdpi/background.9.png file into the mix, it breaks button.png during the pre-compile. The error is "No resource found that matches the given name (at 'background' with value '@drawable/button').Simply removing that one nine patch file fixes the build. Should I be able to have some nine patch images and some normal ones, or to have nine patch only in hdpi but not mdpi or ldpi? This is Eclipse 3.5.1 with the latest ADT.
