View 2 RepliesDoes anyone know any good tutorial about setting up environment and importing libraries for Android development with IntelliJ IDEA?
I downloaded some Android plugins but still the IDE marks all Android objects (Activity, SurfaceHolder...) red.
I was going to try a new ROM today, but since my last 2.2 update returned an "error" about not having an app2sd partition (and my SD card is getting somewhat "junky" anyway), I was thinking of just wiping the entire contents and reformatting prior to flashing.I made a mirror copy of my current SD contents to my computer (just in case), but I'm not sure if reformatting the SD is a bad idea.I'm also not sure at which point during the entire re-flashing process I should perform the reformat. Can anyone shed their opinion on if and when to do something like this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to android and XML. so, i would like to know what is XML parsing and how and where we can use it in android application development.
I would also like to know the syntax to be used for this purpose.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen my site renders in WebKit on Android, addresses are parsed and an OnClick intent is assigned to them, but this behavior gets in the way of javascript I want to act when the text is clicked. Is it because my site uses MicroFormats for the address? Is there a way to disable this on the browser, so no automated parsing occurs?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat exactly does HTC Sense Clear Data actually clear? That may be a solution to reverting back to 5 homescreen pages instead of 7 without having to do a factory reset. Just curious as to what I am going to mess up? Will i just have to personalize the homescreen again, put widgets up, reconnect to fb, twitter, myfaves, etc. It's not going remove any 3rd party apps, just make me create new widgets, etc..?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have to read xml files from server and display data from all files. some data contains character '' which gives me SAXException while parsing. I have tried to convert UTF-8 format. but it gives me out of application as soon as that char is found in file.
I have used SAXParser to parse xml file.
I just started a new Android project, "WeekendStudy" to continue learning Android development and I got stumped compiling the default 'hello weekendstudy' compile / run. I think that I missed a step in configuration and setup, but I am at a loss to find out where. I have an AVD configured, set and launched.
When I press 'run', the SDK is building a file main.out.xml and then fails as this code...
Does anyone have any good references for designing and implementing an idea I have for an android application. My idea is for an application that stores information and reviews about a specific location and presents this information to user.I have gone through all the tutorials and have been reading up on anything and everything about android. Now I am ready to challenge myself with my first app.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I publish a paid application with very good idea and concept. And realize later that someone already publish an app with this idea. What will happen?I understand that this may be difficult to answer.Perhaps I'm not posting this seeking for absolute answer, but for recommendations or a place where I can find more information and learn more about this kind of stuff.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo the large calendar widget that I placed on my home screen used to show dark little tabs in the corner of everyday that I had an event. While I was looking through it, all of the little tabs disappeared and I have no idea what days I have events unless I go into the actual calendar app. Is there any way to keep them there permanently?

View 2 Replies View RelatedYou know how google docs can allow you to share a doc to be edited real time just like a wave or anything else can?I think that idea should be extended to the code creation process so that coding can be done on the cloud as well. This way, depending on a system like mercurial to do a complex set of updates wouldn't be near as much because if two users were to edit the same document at the same time there would be only one submission.it would work just like this for 2+ workers on any single document! I think it's a great idea!

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter publishing a free app to Android Market I have received numerous solicitations from 3rd party app stores to publish my app such as handster.com and mobango.com. To date, I have not pursued that and my app is only available on Android Market.
I would love to hear some developer opinions about this: Is it better to stick to Android Market only, or does it make sense to publish your free apps in as many stores as you can? What do you think are the pros and cons to each approach?
I just got my replacment droid in the mail and im trying to install droidmod to easily root and when i download the apk for any version i get this error "there is a problem parsing the package". i already set the setting to accept from unknown sources.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI went to the Dave Matthews Band concert in Columbus Tuesday night, and it got me thinking up some really cool app ideas.the first one would actually be possible: I was in dire need of another beer but my friends and I were in the middle of a very large crowd on the floor area, and I was worried I wouldn't be able to find them again. What if there was an app to save a group members cell number and locate them by gps on your return trip? they would probably have to enable location on their phone. you could have a couple dots much like google maps that show each of your locations.the other one is impossible most likely but it would be awesome. an app that tells you which beer/food line is the shortest, the prices, and its location.any devices out there wanna take on that first app idea?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI would like to ask since the one thing I am not to fond of about this phone is a lack of a notification LED if someone could make an app that would light up the bottom rows of soft keys to replace the LED missing?
I was sitting here thinking of an idea that would give some sort of indication that there was some sort of notification that needed my attention. Is this even possible? I know the screen and those buttons are lit by different means.
I think it's a good idea as that is my only beef with this phone.
I don't want to say first come first serve, because of time zone differences and the times that people can be on the computer. I would like to get some ideas on how I can give them away in a fair manner.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI've come up with an idea for a battery status indicator application. On my old Windows Mobile phone I had an application(abcPowerMeter) which could show the current power consumption of the phone. Like this: If we can get this on the Galaxy, then it can be coupled with the existing battery status information to give a pretty good estimate of how long the battery is going to last under current load.Instead of showing a notoriously unreliable and counterintuitive green bar the phone would show something like this in the tray.
View 6 Replies View RelatedTo get the most out of your Incredible's battery, you have to bump charge. To bump charge (I think) you charge your battery until the light turns green, then turn your phone off, and wait until the light turns green again. I think this is a hassle, especially when I want my phone ready to go when I wake up (and I don't have time to bump charge).I was thinking that an app could be made to automatically bump charge the phone. All the app would do is turn the phone off once the battery initially charges to 100%, so the phone would keep charging once off, and get a real 100% charge.I am not sure if an app like this could be made, but it would be useful! The only problem I see is: after bump charging does your phone loose charge for every second it is plugged in, or does it stay at the true 100% until it is unplugged? If it loses charge while plugged in after bump charging, then this wouldn't work.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a friend that sent me this message today, which sounds like a great idea:
I've been messing with setcpu and trying out some underclocking profiles. Underclocking while the screen is off as well as reducing the CPU power has gotten me 75% battery left after 8 hours. This is with constant emails but no wireless, bluetooth, or gps. This is better than I was getting under windows mobile.
There is an app in the market which is written just for the Moment that uses the camera flash as a flashlight -- essentially it turns on the camera flash. The application says not to use the flash "too long" or damage may occur, but the "too long" time period is not defined. First, will having the flash on for an period of time damage it? Second, if so, any idea what maximum period of time would be "safe?"
