I lost my Incredible and just received my replacement. Is there any way to recover the applications that were on my old phone, or do I have to remember what I had and re-download everything?

I recently purchased a Galaxy S3, that was completely factory reset with JB 4.1.2.
I downloaded a couple of .jpg files to use as backgrounds, but then decided not to use them - but left them on the device (not in the original download location however)
A couple days ago I received the 4.3 update from AT&T, which seemed to go off without a hitch. But now, the 3 files I downloaded seem to continue to download. - at least I get a notification that the files are downloaded (3 different notifications).
I deleted the files to see if that would stop it - no luck.
I went to Chrome and closed all the tabs (a couple were still open to the location I downloaded them from) - no luck.
When I get the notifications, if I click on it, it says it can't find the file.If I just clear it off, they come back a few hours later.
With the purchased apps, what happens when you upgrade to a newer android phone? Are these apps bound to you by your google user or by phone? Is it maybe done through the cellular carrier?

But when I try to open a downloaded application from the market, it wont play the sound. One of the examples of this: I downloaded a silly piano application, and it wont play sound, but it will vibrate. That is one of many apps without sound. What do I do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can I recover my applications from my tablet after I have rooted it. since the stock/original applications takes up 8 gigs of space of my internal memory. I just cannot seem to access/delete those 8 gigs??
I flashed cyanogen 9 to my SGT2.10.1 and it was successful, although I am stuck on trying to recover my applications from the partition internal memory. Of course I have done a variety of steps to recover them and some of the steps I took are:
1. I tried using the spk tool - I really do not know how to use it and I am having a hard time figuring it out .
2. Trying to delete and reformat the internal memory - was not successful since it only erased of what I currently had on the rooted and partitioned memory, thus my original/stock application are still within the internal memory.
3. I tried using applications such PC36IMG-AmonRA-3.07-gnm.zip - I changed the name to PC36IMG but flashing it lead to installation fail/aborted.
4. I tried recovering them with titanium back up - but the application couldn't see my original/stock applications.
5. Also tried using Astro File manager - Same results as TBU .
6. Deleting the files from my pc via usb- it does not give me an option to reformat it.
My first smart phone! A Samsung Moment Amazing little device. I have loaded a couple of Apps I no longer want. How do I permanently delete them?

Possibly send me a link with directions on how to install.I searched for the thread but had no luck. First of all I downloaded the file and it is zipped.So i unzipped it and copied the unzipped files onto my sd card into an applications folder I had created. From there I opened the applications folder with Astro but I dont know where to go from here.

View 25 Replies View RelatedMy Hero is going haywire. I was trying to download some apps from the market today and they don't want to start. So I rebooted my phone to see if it made any difference. Now when it starts up I get error messages that the com.android.phone and a few others are not working and have to force a close. I have no service either. All the installed apps and components are working but not phone itself. I am with Cellular South in Mississippi and my wife has a Hero also which is working normally so I know it's not a network issue.

File management and, file transfer applications to wireless link to my laptop followed by the transfer of all my work presentations (powerpoint) and lecture notes. All worked fine until today. Now, my device seems to have lost all the downloaded and installed apps (leaving gaps on the desktop). It has also discarded the image I had chosen for my screen background, and I can't see an icon to go to the Android store. Finally: on one of the screens I have the message "Problem loading widget". That might be connected to the problem that Android Market has completely disappeared. How do I get that back!! It's important. My transferred files are still sitting in folders in DCIM so that's good. but none of the special applications are visible. Can someone give an opinion on this. Has something taken place online with Samsung that has put my system back to its out-of-box state.

So while I have them on my homescreen and I reboot my phone they will not show up anymore. So I decide to move them to my phone memory and when I do they no longer show up on the widgets list anymore.

For example... in the Android market - Documents to Go says the application is only 3.59mb BUT once I download it and look under Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications to see what real size it is the application jumps to 8.05mb!
It seems like every single application is doing this. Why are these applications bigger than they actually are?
Suppose you upload a paid app and you want to test if it works correctly when downloaded from Android Market - do you pay for it? Are your own apps free to you? And to download it from the market, do you have to make it visible to the whole world? I tried to upload an app, the uploader accepts it, but when I try to download it from the phone it says "package file was not signed correctly".
It's unacceptable that the uploader checks to see if a file is signed, but it somehow performs *Different* tests than what the phone actually does when it downloads apps. I hope I can debug this further without having to publish my app to test it and make my app momentarily visible to everybody.
I just bought the app Avanced Task Killer for my moto cliq, great app by the way. But I'm going to return and exchange the phone for a new cliq or a mytouch because of some touchscreen issues. I was just wondering if I get a new phone will I be able to retrieve my purchased apps even if I change my phone to a mytouch?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my TabActivity the user may be asked to switch to browser activity for OAuth phase, and if the phase takes too much time, my activity will be killed. After the user switches back to my activity, its onCreate() method is invoked again and tabs are recreated.
So I would like to know if there is any simple way to switch back to previous tab, and keep the tab as what it was. For example, one of the tab views contains a ViewSwitcher child, and I want to switch back to the switched view after recreating the activity.
I am using an AsyncTask to fetch the ring tone for a contact when my application starts, it works fine until after my Activity closes a couple of times during the AsyncTask, after this happens the AsyncTask will only ever get to onPreExecute() and never doInBackground, so I can never fetch the ringtone then until either a force stop or device restart.
Why this might be happening? Why the AsyncTask would get to onPreExecute but then never run doInBackground()?

And onAddRingtone() is used in onCreate and onCancelRingTone() is used in onDestroy() as well as where you can see if in the code above. I have spent 3 days on this and I haven't been able to find a solution? Am I taking the wrong approach? Using cancel wrong? Is there a bug?
I've been meaning to ask this for a while but haven't got around to it.When you uninstall an app from your phone, via the market, that is the app entirely removed from your phone, isn't it?Is there any way of removing the previously installed apps from your downloads list on your market? Or are they there for your reference?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSometimes I install an app, then decide I don't want it installed at the time but still would like to keep track of it. So ideally I would like to add it to the wish list after I have had it uninstalled.
This seems not possible, the playstore won't let you add an app to your wish list after it has already been installed.
I have a bunch of tab activities (which I implemented myself, didn't want to use the tabviews with activities inside them), so It's basically 5 activities calling each other every time the user clicks on the tabs displayed as a row of LinearLayouts at the bottom of the screen.
The thing is that the way I do it now, everytime the user jumps from one activity to another, a new activity is created and launched. Of course, I can see I'm wasting resources this way. So what I would like to do is to create every activity only once; and then if the user wants to go back to the previous (or any one that was already created and is probably paused) just check on some kind of list or array to see if the activity can be recovered and only in the case it can't; to lauch a new one.
My question is, how can I check this? should I save the intents? and how to recover the activities afterwards? I'm kind of new with java.
I found that android handsets connected to my PC via usb often go 'offline' status (by adb.exe devices). And, in this situation, I can not debug or access the handset anymore. My question is, how can I make the handset back to 'device' status. I tried 'adb kill-server' and 'adb start-server', but it didn't help. Why the connection is so unstable, and how can I recover it without reconnect it to the computer.
