Android :: Can I Selectively Delete Receive Emails Off Of POP Server
Jun 29, 2010I used to have a BlackBerry. The global setting was to leave email on the POP server. However, when I deleted emai(s) from the BB I was asked if I wanted to also delete it from the POP server. This was handy in that I could selectively delete junk email so that when I got back to my computer I didn't have to bother with them. The Android doesnt seem to have this capability on an email by email basis. You have to set a global setting for the application for all email. Am I missing something or can I actually selectively choose emails to also be deleted from my POP server.
My Configuration: HTC Droid Incredible on Verizon Wireless network. 8GB memory card. Android 2.1 OS. Home computer = iMac running v10.6.3 Snow Leopard. I use Apple Mail, iCal and Address Book on the iMAC. I use a POP3 server for email. I have a Google Gmail account; which I only use as a go-between to sync contacts and calendar between my iMac and Droid I dont really send/receive from Gmail. I link my iMac to Google to sync contacts and calendar events. I link my Google accounts to my Droid to sync my contact and calendar events. I only open up my Apple Mail application on my iMac when Im at the computer, so that I can get incoming email on my Droid. I have accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. I use a Plantronics discovery Bluetooth 925 headset as well as a wired over the head headset with a jack adaptor.

Jan 19, 2010I have a few hotmail accounts and I access them via Live Mail on my work computer and my home computer as well as my hero. If I delete them on my home computer they still show up on my hero (Same with my work computer, delete and stills hows on my hero). What settings do I need to flip so that if I delete the emails on one system they don't show up on any of the other systems. (same with showing read). Is it a matter of IMPA vs POP3? It gets annoying to have to delete 30+ emails every morning on my hero after I've read them on my PC.

Sep 20, 2010I am looking to make an application in which I have to read Email's from MS Exchange server. I tried to search on API's provided by Android 2.2 to do so but no luck yet. Is it possible to do so. Is android gave open APIs to read and reply email through MS exchange. As of now I am not very much worried about security and administrator policy, right now my other module of app is in pilot mode with few users. MS exchange read and reply can be a big boost to the feature list.

I searched several forums reviews blogs etc but couldn't find anything on this point. May 7, 2010I just noticed for the past few days, my Incredible has been deleting my email off of my pop server account after I delete it (from Trash) out of the phone. Before you say anything, I have "Delete Email on Server" unchecked from the settings. So I checked it, shut off the phone, unchecked it and then sent a few test emails.
With it checked, it does delete my email after I delete it off of the phone - obviously. Unchecking it, sending test email and deleting it still deletes If off my POP Server. I am a little frustrated because I realized about 4 days of emails have been deleted, although I have copies of them on one computer. I know it didn't do this out of the box, only recently.

I've settled down for aqua mail, after trying maildroid, k-9.
The thing is that my hotmail acount doen't mark as read on server.
From what i understand it's because hotmail is pop'? but it has always worked for me on iphone. Is there a way to get around this.
I dont want to change provider, or forward my mail, or pay for email app, I'd like to have both hotmail and gmail accounts in one unified inbox so rather not just have gmail hotmail separately.
My stock email app is insanely slow, there's something wrong with it, how do i reinstall it?

Jun 3, 2010Have a moto droid on verizon and question about email. I'd like to be able to delete from inbox and have it deleted, not go to trash. Or at the very minimum, be able to empty the trash folder in one step without having to individually select each email to be deleted. Is either of these possible and I'm just missing something?

Sep 25, 2009Got my Hero almost on release date from Orange Uk. I am well happy with it especially after the ROM update (official Orange one from HTC). I suffered from the missing SMS problem thats mentioned in another thread on here but I installed SMS2mailbox and that seems to be sorted now. I don't use my gmail account as my main email account I use my ISP which is Sky. I have a strange hit and miss problem with the POP mailbox and I wondered if anyone else suffers from it or knows a fix.
I have the email account setup on the Hero and it shows mail in my mailbox no problem, the issue I have is that it randomly deletes mails from my POP server and only keeps the copy on the phone. Heres an example. I get sent 5 emails in a day while I am at work. I check my Hero mail app and it shows them all. When I get home I open my Outlook client on my PC and only 4 emails come down. I can check on the phone and it still displays the 5. First I thought it was a phone setting but the 'Delete Mail on Server' is definitely set to off. This happened before and after the ROM update. I wonder if it is peculiar to Skys mail servers.

I just got a Fascinate yesterday (was a former Blackberry user) and was wondering if there was an option to delete emails from either or / both the phone and/or email? Blackberry used to have a sync option that when you selected "Delete" it asked if you wanted to:
Delete from handheld device
Delete from PC
Delete from handheld and PC
To clarify, I have a Gmail account but don't use it as my primary email, if at all. I have a personal Comcast account and a work email.

Aug 12, 2010This subject seems to be have been discussed at length various times in the past and I have to confess, I am confused.So can I keep it simple and take it from the top (again)?I have just installed K-9 v2803 on my HTC Desire (Android 2.6.29)It is connecting via IMAP to a Zimbra server.I haven't fiddles with settings straight install, setup the account, off we go.So far everything seems to work EXCEPT deleting.I'm a simple soul - I expect that when I delete a message on the phone it gets deleted on the server as well right?Wrong.If I delete a message on the server side (Entourage on a Mac talking to the Zimbra server) bang! it gets deleted off the phone exactly as I want.But not the other way. Deleting off the phone removes it out of the inbox in K-9 but the message resolutely stays in the server inbox.Can someone explain why this stupid behavious is happening, and better still, what I can do to fix it?

Nov 30, 2010I recently purchased the Samsung fascinate which runs android 2.1 (eria) and found online before i bought it that the phone could support 2 exchange server emails. i have set up my first email through the setup and selected exchange as the server. now the problem arises, when i go into link up my other exchange email account i enter in the info then click automatic setup, it brings me to manual setup automatically everytime and wont allow me to select exchange as the server. it only gives me the options of imap and pop3, neither of these thus far will work and link my second email, i called my it dept and got the port numbers and all that when entering them into the imap and pop3 setup but it will not work. is there anyway around this or how do i setup to exchange server emails on this device.

Nov 13, 2010When I delete emails in Gmail from my computer, they do not delete from my phone unless I first go into a folder from the phone (any folder) and then back into the Inbox. When I go back to the Inbox, I can see the phone refreshing and the email gets deleted.I rarely check my Gmail folders from my phone so it's annoying for me to go into a folder and back to the Inbox just to get it to synch. Anyone else have this problem. Any fix for this?
