Android :: Can I Selectively Delete Receive Emails Off Of POP Server

Jun 29, 2010

I used to have a BlackBerry. The global setting was to leave email on the POP server. However, when I deleted emai(s) from the BB I was asked if I wanted to also delete it from the POP server. This was handy in that I could selectively delete junk email so that when I got back to my computer I didn't have to bother with them. The Android doesnt seem to have this capability on an email by email basis. You have to set a global setting for the application for all email. Am I missing something or can I actually selectively choose emails to also be deleted from my POP server.

My Configuration: HTC Droid Incredible on Verizon Wireless network. 8GB memory card. Android 2.1 OS. Home computer = iMac running v10.6.3 Snow Leopard. I use Apple Mail, iCal and Address Book on the iMAC. I use a POP3 server for email. I have a Google Gmail account; which I only use as a go-between to sync contacts and calendar between my iMac and Droid I dont really send/receive from Gmail. I link my iMac to Google to sync contacts and calendar events. I link my Google accounts to my Droid to sync my contact and calendar events. I only open up my Apple Mail application on my iMac when Im at the computer, so that I can get incoming email on my Droid. I have accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. I use a Plantronics discovery Bluetooth 925 headset as well as a wired over the head headset with a jack adaptor.

Sprint HTC Hero :: How To Delete Emails Permanently From Server?

Jan 19, 2010

I have a few hotmail accounts and I access them via Live Mail on my work computer and my home computer as well as my hero. If I delete them on my home computer they still show up on my hero (Same with my work computer, delete and stills hows on my hero). What settings do I need to flip so that if I delete the emails on one system they don't show up on any of the other systems. (same with showing read). Is it a matter of IMPA vs POP3? It gets annoying to have to delete 30+ emails every morning on my hero after I've read them on my PC.

HTC EVO 4G :: Email Client Deleting Emails

I have a problem with the default email client disappearing received emails. Just now, I saw two older mails in the inbox, then a few minutes later, a couple new spam messages arrived, and the others were gone!

It appears that it clears the inbox whenever new mail arrives. This combined with the fact that it deletes the mail on the server (No option to disable this), makes for a big problem.. It may be that it only deletes mail that's been read already.. Not sure, need to test.

I'm going to creating an Android App where 4 players can connect together and play the game together, now the connection is most probably going to be bluetooth, quicker and my app wont be using a online server. But I'm trying to work out which would be best, P2P or client server, a peer to peer connection would be good, but is 4 users connected together ok and stable using bluetooth? A client server solution would be the host would turn into a wi-fi hot spot while 3 others connect to that wifi.

General :: Stock Email Client Deleting Emails?

Jan 30, 2012

Recently purchased a Samsung Nexus S. The stock email client (not the GMail app), using POP3 will delete mails once they have been downloaded, or when I next sync. Occasionally it will not delete all mails, just some. The option to delete from the server is not ticked and no other clients are pulling from the server, so its not the case that another app is deleting them. To confirm, emails aren't being deleted after say 10 days, they are being deleted within minutes, and I'm only downloading a handful of mails.

I have an application client/server and I want to install this application in differente machines. The server is located in IP_SERVER, listening port 7000. I want to start a cliente in another machine with IP_Y and connect to the server on the different machine.

I've started the server and I've created the socket like this: ... new ServerSocket(7000);

I've started the client and I've created the socket like this: ...new Socket(SERVER_IP, 7000)

But the client did not connect to the server. I've already set the INTERNET_PERMISSION. Any suggestions how to do it? Anybody else have already done a client/server application that communicate between different machines?

Firefly Media Server :: Home Page

it's a clone of the iTunes music sharing service. It allows you to share your music collection over your network.

I have a firefly server setup and share my music colection with all my systems. As well I VPN into my network from work/coffee shop and can listen to my tiny 500GB music colection on my netbook (ubuntu 9.10 btw)

I would love to be able to do the same with my new phone. My curent iphone(jailbroken) has a firefly server that i can share the music from it's ipod side. But alas no client.

Android :: Options For Client Server Communication

Nov 6, 2009

I'm currently in the research phase of my dissertation project. My project is a ticket booking system for a mobile device and I have chosen to target Android.I anticipate the need for a client/server architecture with a central server, and so am currently looking at how Android could communicate with such a server. The server would grant the client access to ticketing information, and the client would send information about ticket bookings to the server. I'm looking at Java EE for the server as Java is the language I'm most experienced with.I'm aware that Android comes with java.nio and java.net, as well as some org.apache packages, but am also looking for libraries/technologies that would be possible to use with Android.
