New to Android - kind of overwhelmed.My big problem now is that if I get an email (gmail) on my phone, and I delete it, it is deleted from my server as well.I need to be able to delete it from my phone if necessary but keep it on my server.

I have a few hotmail accounts and I access them via Live Mail on my work computer and my home computer as well as my hero. If I delete them on my home computer they still show up on my hero (Same with my work computer, delete and stills hows on my hero). What settings do I need to flip so that if I delete the emails on one system they don't show up on any of the other systems. (same with showing read). Is it a matter of IMPA vs POP3? It gets annoying to have to delete 30+ emails every morning on my hero after I've read them on my PC.

I'd really like to find a way to automatically delete stuff on the Hero as I delete stuff on the exchange server. Is there a way to do this without involving another program?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from a five year old phone, so apologies in advance. The geeks at Best Buy set up my email for me which works fine (after multiple trips back to the store). Except that I can't figure out how to do a couple of things. 1. Is there a way to select and delete multiple emails on the phone and 2. How do I get rid of all my spam mail that comes in on the laptop (and gets filtered out there). Do I have to set up some kind of email push program so that the email comes in from my computer (already filtered) instead of from the server? You can see my learning curve is steep.........

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to have a BlackBerry. The global setting was to leave email on the POP server. However, when I deleted emai(s) from the BB I was asked if I wanted to also delete it from the POP server. This was handy in that I could selectively delete junk email so that when I got back to my computer I didn't have to bother with them. The Android doesnt seem to have this capability on an email by email basis. You have to set a global setting for the application for all email. Am I missing something or can I actually selectively choose emails to also be deleted from my POP server.
My Configuration: HTC Droid Incredible on Verizon Wireless network. 8GB memory card. Android 2.1 OS. Home computer = iMac running v10.6.3 Snow Leopard. I use Apple Mail, iCal and Address Book on the iMAC. I use a POP3 server for email. I have a Google Gmail account; which I only use as a go-between to sync contacts and calendar between my iMac and Droid I dont really send/receive from Gmail. I link my iMac to Google to sync contacts and calendar events. I link my Google accounts to my Droid to sync my contact and calendar events. I only open up my Apple Mail application on my iMac when Im at the computer, so that I can get incoming email on my Droid. I have accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. I use a Plantronics discovery Bluetooth 925 headset as well as a wired over the head headset with a jack adaptor.
I was using K9 and it was working fine for gmail (not for hotmail). All of a sudden it won't delete the emails from gmail that I delete on droid. The box is checked to delete the email when I delete it on droid. Anyone else notice this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedGot my Hero almost on release date from Orange Uk. I am well happy with it especially after the ROM update (official Orange one from HTC). I suffered from the missing SMS problem thats mentioned in another thread on here but I installed SMS2mailbox and that seems to be sorted now. I don't use my gmail account as my main email account I use my ISP which is Sky. I have a strange hit and miss problem with the POP mailbox and I wondered if anyone else suffers from it or knows a fix.
I have the email account setup on the Hero and it shows mail in my mailbox no problem, the issue I have is that it randomly deletes mails from my POP server and only keeps the copy on the phone. Heres an example. I get sent 5 emails in a day while I am at work. I check my Hero mail app and it shows them all. When I get home I open my Outlook client on my PC and only 4 emails come down. I can check on the phone and it still displays the 5. First I thought it was a phone setting but the 'Delete Mail on Server' is definitely set to off. This happened before and after the ROM update. I wonder if it is peculiar to Skys mail servers.
Is there a way to delete multiple e-mails at once instead of one by one?

At first, no matter how many times I refreshed, my new mails were not showing up. I tried deleting my email account from my phone and then adding it back. This fixed the problem for a day or two, but now I am having emails show up twice in the inbox, and my phone will update basically whenever it wants to. I only realized this, because every time I have checked my mail on my computer I have 5-10 emails more than are showing up on my phone. WTH?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had my Hero set the way I wanted it for the past 5 months, long story short, I ended up resetting the phone and am now try to add my yahoo mail, gmail, and my Exchange mail. When I setup my Exchange mail, I add an icon to my home screen, works fine. Then I bring another mail icon and add it to the homescreen and setup my yahoo mail, all is good, and so forth for my gmail. The way I had it set up before, I could click each Icon and get my mail accordingly in each of the 3 (mail) icons. In fact, before, one of the icons was even labeled "yahoo". NOW when I try to set it up, it wants to give me the same email in all folders. I do not have anything set as my default.

View 3 Replies View Relatedafter going quite some time without any gmail issues, it's back again. My gmail account has suddenly stopped fetching my emails. Of course this happens when I'm away from home with no access to my gmail account other than my hero. When I go to my gmail webpage and settings on my hero, I noticed that there wasn't the option to manually fetch mail. Then I remembered that you had to change the gmail address to http instead of https due to some security issue they had. But when I try to do this via Dolphin on the hero, I can't seem to find a way to change the web address to http.

Happened the other day and thought I did something and fixed the SMTP server info for my sprint account and worked perfectly. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried searching for this issue around the forums, but I can't find anything similar.I bought a Hero about a month ago, and I use the Gmail app to get my Google Mail with no problems at all.I set up the default Mail app to get my work e-mail using an IMAP incoming server and SMTP outgoing server, and that's where my problem exists.When I set up the account on the Mail app, everything works great and it downloads the e-mails I've received within the last few days.After 12-24 hours, it stops downloading any e-mails into my Inbox. If I hit refresh, it refreshes without any error messages, but no mail shows up.I tried deleting the mail account several times and setting it up anew; each time the same thing happens it works for the first 12-24 hours and then stops downloading.(I can still send e-mails with no problem.I've tested that.)The strangest part is that if I hit Menu from my Inbox and choose the Folders option, I get a folders list that has some of my IMAP folders in it, but then where the list should include folders that have sub-folders, it instead begins a list of literally thousands of folder names like {33}, {51}, {20}, {27}, {22}, {34}, and so on. (The numbers in the brackets appear as the folder names, and the numbers often repeat, but not in a recognizable pattern.) Overall, the list of "folders" with those numbers in brackets is thousands of items long.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEverytime I receive an email, I delete it. When I delete one email. It'll show the inbox with the number ZERO in between parenthesis. Then 1 more email comes in. The parenthesis number is 2. Delete the email that is actually new, and the new parenthesis is 1. Receive one more email. It'll show up as 3. Basically, the ones I deleted aren't deleted on google's server, but they won't show up again in my phone inbox - only in the "unread" counter. And no, it doesn't go away after a few minutes when gmail syncs. Do I really have to get onto a computer to clear the "unread" count? I am running fresh .7.
