when using it with an imap (not gmail) mail account, can k-9 upload the emails you send from the mobile to the 'sent' folder on the imap server? I searched several forums reviews blogs etc but couldn't find anything on this point. It would be very useful because it would allow me to easily keep track of the emails I send from the mobile, just like I do with Profimail on my Nokia at the moment.

I must say I am a little underwhelmed by the Email that comes as standard and wonder if there are any alternatives. I want to be able to look at a of couple of different IMAP servers. I would like the number of new items in each folder (I filter on my server) a tree view of folders (so if I have a folder/subfolder then the subfolders are hidden ability to search for messages with a particular subject.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with deleting emails from the generic email client on Android 1.5. I use the gmail app for dedicated gmail stuff, works like a dream. However, my uni email address (IMAP) using the normal 'email' app is a different story. It will receive emails no problem, but if I delete them they disappear for 2 seconds, then reappear in the inbox again (in the same place) with a line through them, they don't even move into the trash folder. However, what does happen is that they disappear off my webmail server. Is there a way of actually removing something from the inbox once it's been received, or is it there forever? It's a LG Gw620 (eve/intouch max) running android 1.5.

I have a typical IMAP mail box setup (non gmail). Most everything works fine. However, when I delete emails using the Galaxy, they don't actually delete. In the next sync, they pop right back up.
I guess I was a little spoiled by how well webOS handled the setup of all my email accounts, so hopefully I am just overlooking something obvious.
Is there a way to set up Android to access an IMAP email server that is not Gmail, without having it set up to use Microsoft Exchange?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Hero on o2 (an unlocked G2 Touch to be specific) which is set up to connect to my work email using the on-board mail app (the non-gmail one). As I have folders for my emails, I use IMAP both within Outlook 2003 at work and on the Hero. This all worked swimmingly for about 2 months and then recently I have noticed that I have been getting a lot fewer emails both on the Hero and within Outlook. I have also seen emails which I received during the day in Outlook disappearing after about an hour or so. I have spoken to my email provider and they tested it by sending me an email (genius) which strangely is still present in outlook, although it didn't appear on my hero. So in summary, it seems that I have two problems - my hero doesnt seem to download any emails, and my IMAP account is losing emails. I should probably add that my hero is configured to show all emails (irrespective of age or size). I have also checked my webmail and the emails are missing from there.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've tried searching for this issue around the forums, but I can't find anything similar.I bought a Hero about a month ago, and I use the Gmail app to get my Google Mail with no problems at all.I set up the default Mail app to get my work e-mail using an IMAP incoming server and SMTP outgoing server, and that's where my problem exists.When I set up the account on the Mail app, everything works great and it downloads the e-mails I've received within the last few days.After 12-24 hours, it stops downloading any e-mails into my Inbox. If I hit refresh, it refreshes without any error messages, but no mail shows up.I tried deleting the mail account several times and setting it up anew; each time the same thing happens it works for the first 12-24 hours and then stops downloading.(I can still send e-mails with no problem.I've tested that.)The strangest part is that if I hit Menu from my Inbox and choose the Folders option, I get a folders list that has some of my IMAP folders in it, but then where the list should include folders that have sub-folders, it instead begins a list of literally thousands of folder names like {33}, {51}, {20}, {27}, {22}, {34}, and so on. (The numbers in the brackets appear as the folder names, and the numbers often repeat, but not in a recognizable pattern.) Overall, the list of "folders" with those numbers in brackets is thousands of items long.
View 5 Replies View Related"Unable to open connection to server." That's the message I'm getting from my Droid every time I try to set up a connection to my web hosts SMTP server using IMAP. The settings I put in the Droid work fine on my laptop and on my blackberry.
I've tries using ports 25, 1025, 465 and 587. I even tried 143 and 585. Anyone have any clue why this is happening? Anyone else having trouble with SMTP/IMAP connections to their email server? Right now I can't send emails from the Droid and that's a HUGE problem.
I'm trying to set up K9 on my Incredible and am having one little problem (so far).
I'm trying to set it up using IMAP.
When I set up the account, I chose Push (though I don't see that option anywhere now that the account has been set up). I also have polling off.
That still seems to be checking email and notifying me upon arrival of new emails.
What I'm having trouble with, though, is it's not syncing correctly with my server. If I delete/mark read/etc an email on the server, that doesn't get automatically reflected in K9.
That's how IMAP is supposed to work.
If I delete it on K9, it does immediately delete it off my server.
Any idea what I might be missing?
Also, is using K9 w/Push going to be tougher on the battery than using the Gmail app?
Is there a way to open attachments in either gmail or the imap email with out having to have ms office?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've seen various threads about IMAP settings to use for Yahoo email, but it wasn't clear from most of the posts I read whether it was referring to free Yahoo email or a Yahoo-based account associated with home high speed internet. Some gave parameters not using SSL encryption, and I know that would not work for me, but some used very similar setup to what I currently use on my Palm Pre (which uses an IMAP server with "palm" at the beginning of the name, so I don't know if there's a "secret handshake" between the Pre and the server that disallows access via other devices).
I have AT&T DSL (swbell domain email) and am strongly considering dumping my Pre for an EVO, but IMAP access to my swbell account is a must-have. I have a gmail account, but I'm pretty well-established with the swbell account, and don't want to deal with auto-forwarding. So has anyone successfully set up IMAP access to an AT&T/Yahoo email account? I tried using an IMAP server and parameters I found here through Windows Live Mail, but I keep getting some sort of certificate error claiming my system doesn't support something the server is expecting. I have tried in the past with Thunderbird as well using the palm IMAP server, and never succeeded with that either. So I'm a little hesitant to take the plunge until I have a high level of confidence it'll work. Plus I'm waiting for the Android version of HanDBase anyway, since I use that via Classic on my Pre. I don't mind buying an email client if the standard android client doesn't support it. I may do that anyway if there are better ones out there.
I have been trying to setup my schools email account via google apps but to no avail. I have gotten count less errors both on the gmail and email app. Typical errors include "invalid credentials", "rejected", or something of that nature. I have also tried setting my username to "anon@usc.edu" , "anon@gmail.com", or simply "anon". These are the settings I use:

Port 993
SSL
I won't bother including outgoing email settings because I have yet to even make it past the incoming settings page.
I have an HTC Desire and have set up multiple email accounts on it with no trouble. The system works great. The only problem I find with work email accounts (non-gmail or hotmail) is that when I send an email it saves to the sent items folder on the phone but when I go to Outlook and go to the sent items folder there it does not show the sent item. But other than that there are no issues with sending or receiving. I am using 1and1 IMAP for these emails that are having trouble. Has anyone else found a solution to this without downloading an app. I am very used to the system already in Android 2.1.

The application mainly uses SOAP webservices to communicate with the server, but I do not know how to serialize a stream of bytes in KSOAP and therefore I need some help. The solution should not necessarily use KSOAP. A valid solution would be to upload the photo on some server, and just retrieve the URL, which will be stored in the database.

I have taken a couple months off and now whenever I try to upload an app, I get the unhelpful message "The server could not process your apk. Try again.". This happens even when I upload the exact same apks that I have uploaded before and ones that work fine with adb push onto devices.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince this morning, I've been getting the error in the subject when I try to upload a new APK version to my Market Developer Console. At first, I figured it was just a brief server outage, but not since it's gone on all day. I also suspect it's only affecting me, since I've seen no other mention of it on this group. Well, I'm mentioning it now.
Anyone come across this before? I've released enough APKs that I'm quite familiar with the Console; while that doesn't rule out a stupid mistake, of course, I don't think that's the case here. Obvious possibilities that I think I HAVE ruled out: I've confirmed that it's the correct package name, and that it's signed with the same key as it always has been. Beyond that, I'm not sure what to consider.
I have also contacted Market Support, with no response as yet. And I did notice that this morning was the first time the "Draft application" feature became available on my Console; not sure if that's relevant, but coincidences are suspicious.

The end result is that I want to upload selected photos from and Android phone to a php website.
I can display the images from the camera and get the filename that I want to upload. However I cannot use FileInputStream on the file name because it is not private to my application. Use FileInputStream generates an error that the file contains a path separater.
Does anyone know how to get the filestream running? Do I have to copy the file into a private file store?

I am trying to use the K9 application with Yahoomail on my Droid Incredible. Yahoomail does not work the way I like with the standard HTC email client. It does not save email to sent items when I reply something I really like and when I delete it does not put the items on the server into trash. I have a few questions about the K9 yahoomail setup with PUSH rather than Poll.
1. Does Yahoomail on K9 support PUSH without polling? I want to save battery and avoid polling plus I simply like push better.
2. If it does support PUSH for incoming what is the full setup and configuration to get this to work. I have tried it and it does not seem to download test email. But if I perform a Poll it does.
I am using imap.mail.yahoo.com 143. I also received an update of K9 today from the market that said it fixed the IMAP notification issues.
Droid Razr MAXX stock email. I have 2 IMAP email accounts that sometimes refresh (I.E. the email pushes right away) and sometimes if I manually check it hours later, I see that emails were sent 2-3 hours ago with no notification or no push.
This sometimes happens too with Exchange, but not as often.
Does anyone know of an App that acts similar to the Blackberry email client? What i really mean is does anyone know of an app that acts as a third party entering your log in details and then pushing emails to your phone (similar to what i believe the BB client does)
I only ask as i wish to connect to my Uni email address and the IMAP settings are restricted on undergraduate accounts, so cant sync in the usual way via IMAP. However, people who have BB's at uni have no issue in connecting to their emails. On asking the IT guys why this is they explained "The reason people are able to use Blackberry?s is due to the fact that they provide there password to an external company to access there mail on behalf of them which is strongly against the terms and conditions of there university account, and as a result should not be doing this at all." Essentially i need an app that mimics this. his new HTC desire?

View 4 Replies View RelatedNew user and new Droid owner here. As a previous BB Curve owner, I was pretty excited to drop the clunky BB OS in favor of a more user friendly device. I am trying to get my email set up on my Droid. I have my personal email through my webhost (Dreamhost.com) which allows us to have either IMAP or POP3 email access. I have attempted to set up each on my phone and still have similar issues.
1. Emails constantly show up dated 12/31/1969 - typically these are auto generated emails from eBay or CRON based emails from some applications I have developed. Is there an known issue with the way the OS reads auto-generated time stamps?
2. Multiple notifications received on same emails. Once again tied back to my additional POP3/IMAP account, but I receive the notification icon of new emails after I have read them - and even sometimes deleted them from my Droid.
3. Not so much an email issue, but a general question. Is there a way to "unlock" the phone other than sliding the screen up or pressing the top botton?
Setting up my new htc desire just have 2 quick email related questions
1. is there no push notification email on IMAP ?
2. is it possible to get notifications on new email in secondary folders as well as INBOX?
Does anyone recommend, use or just know of an email client other than K-9 for use with IMAP email. I use touchdown for my Exchange/Corporate account. I have been using K-9 for my email client, which is alright and gets the job down, but I am wanting more.
I have searched the MArket place but can' find any.
I'm absolutely loving this thing so far. So easy to use, type etc, and the screen is gorgeous. Having a tough time deciding on screen proecto or not. I have my personal email setup on IMAP. When I tell the mail program to download anything more that 3 days worth of email, it skips the most recent week of new mail. So email I get today doesn't show up. If I use today or 3 days, it seems to work. I would like to have 14 days worth of email but can't figure why it won't work.
