Sprint HTC Hero :: Phone Stuck On Roaming And No EVDO
Feb 4, 2010My Hero has been stuck on roaming since Tuesday night and now has no EVDO service after a tech had me do a soft reset and update my profile.The Sprint store told me last night that they just received a bulliten about this and for some reason it only affects HTC heros on their network.I was given two different stories by techs over the phone and am really unhappy. It seems a bit odd that nobody has posted about it here.I live in Houston Texas.

Sep 16, 2010after installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

Jul 5, 2010When traveling near my home area I encounter areas with no Sprint service. The phone roams into Verizon network which is very strong in my area. Beginning last week when I attempt to make a call when roaming on Verizon I get a message stating Verizon can not verify this phone number unable to make call. I contacted Sprint about the problem. They suggested a few things i already did, update PRL and profile etc.... which did not help. They told me there was nothing they could do because they cant guarantee service on their phones when roaming. This baffles me because phone roamed fine on Verizon for 6 months all of a sudden it doesnt. Any ideas on how this can be fixed? About 30 percent of my home town has no Sprint coverage so I guess I am just SOL.

Nov 10, 2009Just wondering if anyone knows how data roaming works with Sprint. I was in an area where I was roaming but it seemed as though the Facebook app was updating. Maybe I hit a pocket of wifi access, I dunno.So, is data roaming happening? If so, is it included under the "no roaming charges" umbrella that comes with the Everything plans or could be be charged for roaming data?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Data Roaming Charges Showing Up On Bill?
Jun 30, 2010I have been a Sprint customer for a very long time. My wife and I both have smartphones and we have the Unlimited 1500 plan. To my knowledge, this includes everything (excluding International calls.....which I know for a fact thanks to an $1800 fraud that was on my bill 2 months ago). I digress, data roaming is included as a part of this plan as far as I know.
I checked my bill online yesterday, and there was an alert that I have used 3800+KB of data roaming.
Now....let me start by saying, yes, I do have the setting checked to allow for data roaming (as to my knowledge, it's included in my plan). I do have the Hero (my second one) and for the life of me, I can't figure out why it goes into roaming mode more than any other Sprint phone I've ever owned. My wife's phone could be sitting next to mine, and I'll be roaming while she is not. That being said, I can guarantee there have been instances where I've roamed and pulled down data (checking email, automatically checking weather/facebook/twitter/etc, internet) and I've never seen this alert on my account.
I called Sprint last night to question it, and they put a $20 service credit on my account. That's all fine and great, as I'm not going to turn down free money, but I had explained that my concern was that the alert is showing up to begin with. I even explained that while I appreciate the credit, I'd rather just have this situation resolved so that I don't have to call back next month if these charges appear.
My question is this, has anyone ever seen this before? I am rooted, I am running Fresh 2.1.1 and I have the latest SPRINT radio flashed from Flipz' website. I have had this setup for a little over 2 months now, so this isn't the first billing cycle that this setup has seen. I can't figure this out for the life of me.
If this continues to be a problem, it's either going to require a new device or a new carrier. I live in a very populated western suburb in Chicagoland and have NEVER had a problem with roaming or poor signal until I got the Hero in October.
Sprint HTC Hero :: International Voice / Data Plan Can Sign Up / Don't End Up Paying Sky-high Roaming Rates?
Jun 6, 2010I'm heading to Halifax, Nova Scotia for a week and will be bringing my Hero with me. I'll be calling Sprint customer support to see what options are available for voice and data, but I trust the advice of folks in this forum.
Is there any international voice and data plan that i can sign up for so that I don't end up paying sky-high roaming rates? I really don't want to have to keep my phone in airplane mode the whole week. Any advice from travelers to the "Great White North" would really be appreciated, eh?
General :: Phone Stuck In Roaming With Correct IMEI
May 19, 2014I flashed my Verizon Note 2 (SCH-I605) to the SOKP Rom from a Jedi X Rom (v13 I believe). After the flash, I noticed my network was not working. Eventually I found out that the device was registering as a GT-7105. Not sure what went wrong, as the rom was flashed with no errors. I also ensured that my recovery was on the appropriate version (TWRP 2.6.3.3 in this case) and I also did a factory reset. To try and rectify the issue I wiped the phone and tried various other roms. In every one of those cases I found that the phone was constantly roaming. I had checked my network mode and tried switching between Global and LTE/CDMA which did nothing. Being completely out of options, I just installed to a stock rom through Odin (VRAMC3 4.1.2) and let it update via Wifi to 4.3 and still nothing. (I am well aware of the Knox security feature and will address this in a moment)
Here are the different ways I tried to diagnose the issue after this that led nowhere:
1. Made contact with a Tier-2 specialist from Verizon that tried various diagnostic methods and found that my phone was simply not registering on the Verizon network, or ANY other network for that matter.
2. I went to a Verizon store and got my SIM card replaced.
3. I even went to a repair shop to see if the phone possibly had a faulty connection.
I have already verified that the IMEI is correct based on the sticker behind the battery. The PRL is on 15310. The very last thing I tried was entering "getprop" inside a terminal. I'm taking a guess here, but I noticed my ril.serialnumber was all 0s. If I need to root my phone again to try something, I am more than willing to. My phone is out of warranty and not insured, I'm not really concerned about the Knox warranty trigger unless it will render my phone completely unusable.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Stuck On Screen CM6
Sep 28, 2010Last night, played a couple of rounds on Wordfeud and I'm assuming the battery went dead. Now I'm stuck on HTC screen when I boot up. Won't even show CM6 loadup screen. I charged it for a couple minutes and even booted into recovery with no luck. Battery pull doesn't do it either. Have I bricked my phone? I'm not quite understanding why it's not loading up anything. BTW: During the recovery screen, it said I had the RA image there so I doubt it's not on my card to boot up as I know that if you don't have this then it won't boot up.

Jul 8, 2010For some reason my Hero got a mind of its own and is now stuck in car mode. Anytime I hit the home key I get the Navigator screen and anytime I answer a call it automatically has the speaker phone on. From my googling I have seen other phones that have had this problem but nothing on the Hero. I called CS and they said they had no idea how to turn it off and to take it into a store to have them look at it. I took it into the store and how did they fix it...they ordered me a new Hero. So apparently they couldn't fix it either. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and were able to fix it so maybe when someone else runs into it they don't have to go through all the fun I have had too.

Jul 3, 2010Im trying to root my htc hero with android 2.1 and ive done all the steps and im not getting the "superuser permissions" a[[ in my app tray ive updated my build number to 2.27.651.5 which it says to do before i root. ive downloaded sync, and all the files and when i use the command prompt it goes all the way to the "unrevoked" part and the app doesnt go into my tray, im thinking its because its in safe mode and i cant get it out of safe mode, i need to get out of safe mode regardless anyway

May 6, 2010I am rooted running Fresh 2.0d and as this is not the official build I realize that there will be some bugs and clearly I'm ok with that since I rooted and flashed a ROM, just a question...I was on hold the other night for about 30 mins so I decided to just set my phone down and put it on speaker, when I finally got someone on the line I tried to turn off the speaker and it wouldn't do it...since then I have made a couple of calls...same result though this time I didn't even enable it...I have since pulled the battery and reset the phone and the problem has gone away, but has anyone else ever had this problem??

May 13, 2010I installed Aloysius 2.0.8 rom last night and now all my phone will do is show red, blue , green and yellow colors the boot animation going back and fourth all night it will not let me do anything it seem like it is suck. Feb 25, 2010I've been trying to root my phone for 2 days now but I can't even get my Hero to sync to my computer. I've searched around and tried a lot of the tips and tricks that I've seen. I manually downloaded drivers, and that didn't work either.I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, which from what I've heard has been a source of problems for a lot of people. I decided to come to you guys before I went to HTC about this, so if you have any advice please share. I can't even get Pre-Kitchen until I fix this problem.I've tried:
1) Restarting my phone while connected
2) Checking off USB Debugging, plugging it in, then checking it on.
3) Restarting my computer while phone is connected.

Jul 29, 2010I rooted my phone (HTC Hero 200 running 2.1) a few days ago, went with Fresh 2.1, but after having some trouble with WiFi Tethering I opted for Damage Control. I did a lot of searching online and found Damage Control 0.999999% and installed it on my phone. It is working okay for the most part, but I found out that there are a number of 2.0 versions out there so I decided I wanted to update to a new version.
1) Version 2.09.1 would not load (and I read that it was unstable so I removed it and rolled back.
2) I went with version 2.08.1 and when I rebooted the phone it would get stuck on the boot-up screen and would not go any further (I went in, wiped the phone, went back to the initial Kernel I installed (2.6.29-8f4e5478 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1), but it still wouldn't work.
3) I research other Damage Control ROMS and went with 2.06.1 Lite to download the DCUpdater, thinking that if I went with this edition I would use it to get to 2.08.1, but same result as before.
Do I need to download a new Kernel? Do I need to start from scratch and root my phone all over again?
Sprint HTC Hero :: Cpu Clock Speed Stuck Redlined At Full 691mhz
Aug 2, 2010So I was messing around with ZenEXP and really loved it though I ran across a problem. I noticed via system panel that my cpu clock speed was stuck redlined at the full 691mhz. I've tried using both setcpu and overclock widget to alleviate this but neither helped, anyone else have this problem or know of a workaround?

Jun 7, 2010After using Fresh's 2.0d for the last month, I decided to try DC 2.08. I did a Titanium Backup, copied 2.08 to the SD, wiped the phone and the dalvik and installed from the SD card. After the installation, the phone boots up but is stuck on the HTC logo screen (the white background that says "quietly brilliant"). It looks like it is looping as it shows the sprint screen every few minutes before going back to the HTC screen. I've tried wiping and reinstalling, but I am getting the same result.
FWIW, I root using Fresh Kitchen's auto-root if that matters.
Any suggestions? Should I try to flash Fresh's 2.1.2?
Sprint HTC Hero : Photo Screen Stuck During Text Messaging / IM Chat Conversations
May 22, 2010Does anybody else besides me also like the way the iPhone and Palm Pre both place the photo (or text "balloon") of peopl on alternate sides of the screen during text messengering and IM chat conversations? It really gives a nice sense the "back and forth" of real life conversation...and to also help distinguish one's own comments from those of the person one is conversing with...particularly if there's no actual photo in the phone book to show the person (you can still see the back and forth pattern Seems like such a great idea and so simple to implement! Why the heck can't they do that on our Android phone?
