I randomly lose my data connection. It happens whether I'm using 3g or wi- fi. And it doesn't matter witch rom I got flashed on my hero. I've been rooted for quite some time now, so I doubt I'm making a noob mistake. Although I'm no rom writer, so I could missing something.

seemingly for no reason. running fresh 2.3.3, and whatever stock kernels/overclockers or whatever, come with it) i've searched on here but havent really found the answer.it seems about 50% of the time when i go to either the browser or maps (or something that uses GPS), i'll find no connection. toggling airplane mode seems to remedy data connection, but i usu have to reboot to bring GPS back up. anyone else having these issues?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have juicedefender and I enable that at work to shut off my data for 50 minutes out of every hour. I disable the app when I return home so I can always be receiving data.
With that said, I will be texting my girlfriend, shut my screen off and the notification sound does not ring when she sends me a text. The only reason I know she sends me a text is because I will go to Gv on my laptop and see she sent me a msg.
I looked into my battery mode settings and it is setup to shut off data after 15 minutes of inactivity during non peak hours (midnight to 8am) and set to 60 mins or never for peak hours, however my phone was never inactive for that time period.
My question is, what else could be shutting my data on/off if juicedefender is disabled and my battery profile is set up correctly ( i even changed it to performance and i didnt hear the notification, yes the notification vol. is up)
After updating to 2.1, I lose my data connection about once or twice a day. No visible notification but the EV symbol at the top of the screen will always be "lit up" w/ the upload/download arrows showing no activity. I always have to switch the airplane mode on for a second and turn it back off. I have bluetooth automatically connect to my car when I'm in it and don't know if that's what is causing it? Anyone else having this issue and finding a cure? I updated PRL as well as firmware, but no luck.
View 20 Replies View RelatedIm leaving for costa rica tomorrow and would like to turn off ALL data AND telephone. i dont want any connection at all, but i would still like to use my camera, calendar, notepad, etc. how do i turn off EVERYTHING? But I would still use wifi to browse internet(not data)...is that possible? i know airplane mode will turn everything off; even wifi. so my question is, how do i turn off all data/phone and still use wifi to browse internet?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI originally posted this in the CM 6 thread, but after doing a nandroid restore and also flashing to Fresh 2.4 I'm still having this issue. I rebooted my phone this morning (was running CM6 6.1.0 RC1) and ever since the reboot I cannot connect to any google services and the data connection when connecting to webpages is hit or miss. When I try to connect to my google account on the initial setup for CM6 and for Fresh 2.4 I get the error: 'cant establish a reliable data connection to the server'. I have good to great signal strength yet terrible connection. Would updating my radio help? After doing some googling someone suggested updating my profile through the system settings. Can I do that with a rooted phone or do I have to flash back to an official update?

However when i installed a barcode reader like Barcode reader and Shop Savvy, I lost all connections to the internet, the market, Email, and even the weather. I was able to use the phone and text, but that was it. Then last night I installed the XDA keyboard, and I again lost all my data connections except phone and text. Is there a setting I need to change? or any other ideas for how to fix this issue? I should be able to install apps and not loose data connections. Should I try reinstalling the update?
Also, the battery seems to last just a tade less longer than 1.5 did. But no worries there. Would like to install apps without loosing connections. Photoshop, Google Goggles, History eraser, Astro file manager, Google maps (update i think), Shazam, Facebook, 3Banana notes, and Pandora. All that is on my home screen that might interfer with something is the clock with the weather widget, the people favorites widget, and that's all. Otherwise the home screens are just icons to the apps I use. Not sure if any of this helps sovle my problem.
So I rooted a week or so ago. Didn't flash any new ROMs or anything, just deleted some bloatware and set up wireless tethering. Right away I noticed the data connection going up and down a lot. Then a few days ago I started periodically getting a black popup with this: When I get it, I just hit "dismiss" and so far, everything goes back to working normally at that point. Still, it's a little disconcerting. Anyone else gotten this popup or had their data connection messed with by rooting?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a new Droid (new verizon customer) last Friday. Twice now I have lost 3G downsignal only (which effectively means no data connection). To be clear, I still have the 3G signal icon on my phone, and all my apps are uploading data (according to the icon) however no data is being sent back down. I've tried waiting 10 minutes and tried going in and out of airplane mode (3G icon does come back after leaving airplane mode) however I still don't have downstream connection, only upstream.
The only way I have fixed this is to reboot the phone, which sucks. Has anyone had this issue? I'm not sure i'll be able to get a replacement (even with insurance) unless I can reproduce it in front of Verizon reps, so I'm not sure what I should do about it.
Ever since i got 2.2 i have been losing 3g and i will not get it back until i restart the phone.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, is there a fix? We are both out of the 30-day time frame but we do have insurance on both.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI think my Hero is on it's way out. It has decided to randomly shut itself off when it feels like it. I almost made my son late for school today because the alarm didn't go off because apparently the phone was off. It's done this a few times now. So my dilemma is... I'm due for an upgrade on Monday, thing is I don't care for any of the phones out right now. I don't really want to waste and upgrade on a phone I don't really want. I can get a new Hero with insurance for $100 but how many can you get a year cuz I don't really want to use it if it's my last one? I could stick it out or switch back to my berry until something good comes out but I think we would've heard about it by now.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAnyone else's phone randomly stop receiving SMS messages? I even have SMStomail installed and it doesn't catch the SMS messages at all. I can make calls, get emails, but no SMS at all until I reboot. It's happened twice and is beginning to get annoying.
This is not the same as the SMS/VM issue because a simple reboot solves it, and I am no where near 40mb on my ROM, and the SMStomail service doesn't catch it.
I've had a Hero for a few weeks now, and while most things are great, I'm finding the internet connection very unreliable. For example, if I try to use the browser to view a website, often it says it can't find the page, even for www.google.com, and this is using a bookmark so I know it's a valid address. Often in the Market, it says it doesn't have a connection and to retry or cancel.
I am usually connected via wi-fi, either at home or at the office, so I know the wi-fi connection is good, and both have been tested thoroughly with my iPhone 3G. It's almost as if I have to wait for something to happen before I can use the net, but I make sure the wifi signal symbol appears before I try anything. Why could my data connection be so unstable?
I'm the happy owner of an Hero since one week but I have an "issue" with the Weather widget, the widget itself and the info under the clock in the home page. I live in France but I work in another country, I've not enabled auto data roaming as it costs a lot. Problem is that at 6:30am for instance the forecasts are updated, then I cross the border, data mode becomes disable and then 6h after, the logo still shows a moon and the 7C based on 6:30 update. And it stays in this useless state until 6pm when I leave the roaming mode returning to France.
How can I make the 2 widgets showing estimated forecast (looks like 3 days are available) even if no update is possible ? Before the Hero I was using a Winphone with SBP Mobile Shell and the weather widget was taking care of the time of the day to change the logo/forecast even not connected. If not possible with the HTC, could you point me to a weather widget more "clever" than this one?
While I was out today with "Mobile network" selected and an HSDPA connection I was able to update weather, view a Google Map, browse web pages and read GMail messages. However, when I replied to messages in the GMail app my replies were not sent. They sat in the GMail app with the word "Sending" shown in red in the Inbox. I tried toggling the mobile data connection off and on a couple of times, but still no joy. As soon as I returned home and reconnected through WiFi the messages were sent within a minute or so.Has anyone any suggestions as to what I might do differently next time?

There is one thing that I really miss from winmo and I was wondering if there is an app for anroid that will do this. With winmo when an app need to access the internet it would automatically connect and then after a certain amount of time idle it would disconnect. I have not been able to do this with android. Is there an app that will do this for me?

My phone has recently started to randomly drop 3G so that I am unable to surf the web, receive emails etc. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?
