My mobile data connection turns off after a few minutes when the screen lock comes on. I have checked both "always on mobile data" and "mobile network" on. The data connection will stay on with the screen lock only if I have an IM logged on. I have changed my sim card and have done a factory reset....

I just noticed this since the latest update, not sure if it was there or not, and not sure if there is an app that may have recently been updated causing this, but every 5 minutes or so, my screen will flash on for a second or so, and then turn off again. It's rather maddening. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Is that intentional? It would be really helpful to know if this is how it is or if I just didnt find the solution for that so far.thank you for any help on that (and as I said, even "doesnt work right now/on purpose/.

Closest thing I can find is Popup Notifier, but not only does it wake up the device, it leaves a ton of popups when unlocked. I would rather have popups on the lock screen.

Also, either way, when I unlock the screen and go into wifi settings, I see that the phone is trying to make a wifi connection, but it never succeeds, even though it's my home network and I'm in the same room as the router. Any recommendations for a similar app that turns the screen off but does NOT lock it.
I know this is a rooted issue because it never happened on stock. I have had this problem on Fresh and Baked Snack. Whenever the screen is off and I'm listening to anything that requires mobile data (pandora, streaming radio), it cuts out after about 5 minutes. When I turn the screen on, I can see 3G kick back in and the stream starts again. Is this a known problem with a known solution?

Now I have Pristine JB Slim custom ROM, i have installed it 1-2 months ago (cant remember exactly), and everything was okay for first half period, but then it started to crush after mobile data/wifi was turned on.
When I turn on MD/WIFi, its usually okay till 76% of battery, but then screen starts to blink for few seconds and turns off immediately after. When I turn it on again, it turns off again after 1-2 minutes, and sometimes even warns me that i have to charge it cause battery has only few % left (most of time just 1). And I have to charge it again to work normally (well, until it starts to go crazy again )
Before i start to install other roms again. So. Is it faulty battery, bad ROM or something else?
I've noticed in the last few days that my display turns off after 1 minute when idle, even when actively running Googlemaps with directions, etc. This is overwriting the 10 minutes in settings - very annoying.Am also running PowerManager and TaskPanel, but haven't changed any of the settings for ages, so I can't see if these can be interfering.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had a Hero for a few weeks now, and while most things are great, I'm finding the internet connection very unreliable. For example, if I try to use the browser to view a website, often it says it can't find the page, even for www.google.com, and this is using a bookmark so I know it's a valid address. Often in the Market, it says it doesn't have a connection and to retry or cancel.
I am usually connected via wi-fi, either at home or at the office, so I know the wi-fi connection is good, and both have been tested thoroughly with my iPhone 3G. It's almost as if I have to wait for something to happen before I can use the net, but I make sure the wifi signal symbol appears before I try anything. Why could my data connection be so unstable?

I've been rooted for quite some time now, so I doubt I'm making a noob mistake. Although I'm no rom writer, so I could missing something.

No visible notification but the EV symbol at the top of the screen will always be "lit up" w/ the upload/download arrows showing no activity. I always have to switch the airplane mode on for a second and turn it back off. I have bluetooth automatically connect to my car when I'm in it and don't know if that's what is causing it? Anyone else having this issue and finding a cure? I updated PRL as well as firmware, but no luck.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI'm the happy owner of an Hero since one week but I have an "issue" with the Weather widget, the widget itself and the info under the clock in the home page. I live in France but I work in another country, I've not enabled auto data roaming as it costs a lot. Problem is that at 6:30am for instance the forecasts are updated, then I cross the border, data mode becomes disable and then 6h after, the logo still shows a moon and the 7C based on 6:30 update. And it stays in this useless state until 6pm when I leave the roaming mode returning to France.
How can I make the 2 widgets showing estimated forecast (looks like 3 days are available) even if no update is possible ? Before the Hero I was using a Winphone with SBP Mobile Shell and the weather widget was taking care of the time of the day to change the logo/forecast even not connected. If not possible with the HTC, could you point me to a weather widget more "clever" than this one?
Im leaving for costa rica tomorrow and would like to turn off ALL data AND telephone. i dont want any connection at all, but i would still like to use my camera, calendar, notepad, etc. how do i turn off EVERYTHING? But I would still use wifi to browse internet(not data)...is that possible? i know airplane mode will turn everything off; even wifi. so my question is, how do i turn off all data/phone and still use wifi to browse internet?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI originally posted this in the CM 6 thread, but after doing a nandroid restore and also flashing to Fresh 2.4 I'm still having this issue. I rebooted my phone this morning (was running CM6 6.1.0 RC1) and ever since the reboot I cannot connect to any google services and the data connection when connecting to webpages is hit or miss. When I try to connect to my google account on the initial setup for CM6 and for Fresh 2.4 I get the error: 'cant establish a reliable data connection to the server'. I have good to great signal strength yet terrible connection. Would updating my radio help? After doing some googling someone suggested updating my profile through the system settings. Can I do that with a rooted phone or do I have to flash back to an official update?
View 17 Replies View RelatedWhile I was out today with "Mobile network" selected and an HSDPA connection I was able to update weather, view a Google Map, browse web pages and read GMail messages. However, when I replied to messages in the GMail app my replies were not sent. They sat in the GMail app with the word "Sending" shown in red in the Inbox. I tried toggling the mobile data connection off and on a couple of times, but still no joy. As soon as I returned home and reconnected through WiFi the messages were sent within a minute or so.Has anyone any suggestions as to what I might do differently next time?

By default the wi-fi setting is set to go to sleep (and use cellular data instead) when the screen is off, which will most likely happen while you are streaming music as well as other things. To change it so the wi-fi never turns off, to into the phone's menu -> wireless and network -> wi-fi settings -> tap the menu button and select advanced which has an option for wi-fi sleep policy that had been defaulted to sleep "when screen turns off". There you have the option to change it to "never" or "never when plugged in".
Is there anyway to get the pattern lock to trigger after 20 min? The list shows 20 min at the max, but I'd like something more in the range of 2-4 hours.

I've changed the router settings on my home wifi router according to directions found on those sites. For the first time today, I tried wifi at a different location. It worked perfectly at first, but dropped the connection after about 20 minutes and wouldn't reconnect. It shows that it's connected, but data won't refresh.
So my question is, is the wifi problem with the Droid X something that everyone is afflicted with when trying to hook up to 802.11n routers, or is it only some Droid X's. The 3G signal in my house and at work isn't strong enough for me to download larger files like audio books without timing out. I'm wondering if it's worth trying for a replacement or if I should wait for some kind of software fix. I don't hold out much hope for that anytime soon - the Verizon rep was completely unaware that there was any kind of issue with wifi on the Droid X. I know they are generally clueless, but I would think if it was widespread enough they would have at least heard about it...
After dealing iwth this, I understand why Droid X owners are using 5X as much data as other Verizon smartphone users. We don't have wifi options...
I installed the official 2.1 update. I'm loving a lot about it. However when i installed a barcode reader like Barcode reader and Shop Savvy, I lost all connections to the internet, the market, Email, and even the weather. I was able to use the phone and text, but that was it. Then last night I installed the XDA keyboard, and I again lost all my data connections except phone and text. Is there a setting I need to change? or any other ideas for how to fix this issue? I should be able to install apps and not loose data connections. Should I try reinstalling the update?
Also, the battery seems to last just a tade less longer than 1.5 did. But no worries there. Would like to install apps without loosing connections. Photoshop, Google Goggles, History eraser, Astro file manager, Google maps (update i think), Shazam, Facebook, 3Banana notes, and Pandora. All that is on my home screen that might interfer with something is the clock with the weather widget, the people favorites widget, and that's all. Otherwise the home screens are just icons to the apps I use. Not sure if any of this helps sovle my problem.
I am trying to find a way to block incoming calls while I am on the internet. It seems like right when I am about to finally get to what I am looking for someone calls just to say what's up. Is there an app or setting that will send those calls straight to voicemail

Is their a way to extract the .apk of the lock screen from the droid, and just install it on the hero, I understand that the resolution on the hero is different, but hate the current lock screen, i have to slide it down 2-3 times for it to recognize. I downloaded lock 2.0 already on the market, its not bad. but it takes 3-4 seconds on my phone to actually give me the slide to unlock screen.
