I've a Lg 2x (Aka Optimus Dual) temasek's UNOFFICIAL BUILD, now i saw an update from temasek. I'm asking how i can install the new room file as a simple update without losing any app/contact etc.

View 18 Replies View RelatedAs far as I know, if an owner of an android smartphone decides to flash/update his phone by not using the official ways (by smartphone via wi-fi or by pc via Kies), then he permanently loses a possibility to update his phone officially.
I know that because I used to have Galaxy S2 and installed a custom firmware, although there was a trick when you use some stick to have your phone "official" again.
So, I'm not comfortable with the "latest" android OS 2.3.6, S6802XXLF2 / Gingerbread.XXLF4 My phone is GT-S6802 Ace Duos. I'm not comfortable due to the fact that the default browser doesn't have an exit button, so I have to resort to task manager in order to kill the process of internet browser - which is an oversight by android devs.
But I know, that in some new firmwares the default internet browser has an exit button, so I'm wondering if there's any firmware to which I can upgrade without losing the possibility to update my smartphone afterwards.
Also, I take it, for every smartphone there's certain firmware version, right?
For example, for Galaxy S3 it's Android 4.0.4
While for Galaxy Ace Duos it's Android 2.3.6
And the OS of Galaxy S3 can't be installed onto Ace Duos, right?
This is sad, why can't Samsung make one universal OS for its smartphones? Does Windows Mobile has the same issue? Or is it universal just like PC Windows OS?

I randomly lose my data connection. It happens whether I'm using 3g or wi- fi. And it doesn't matter witch rom I got flashed on my hero. I've been rooted for quite some time now, so I doubt I'm making a noob mistake. Although I'm no rom writer, so I could missing something.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to have a RAZR flip-phone, and while I love my current phone much more (an AT&T SGS2) I do sometimes miss the option to have the phone beep at you when you lose signal and again when you get it back. I am volunteering every day in West Liberty, KY (which was basically destroyed in Friday's tornadoes) but cell service is down except for small pockets here and there that for some reason get just enough service to send a text or sometimes make a phone call. Anyway, if I could get an app for the SGS2 that would run all the time and notify me when I have lost and regained cell service it would work for me.

Actually I found "Locate My Droid" but I noticed there are various apps of this type, so before buying a PRO version I would like to know some well known names where I can choose from.
Every few days(sometimes once a day) I get a 'new' android 4.3 update, which once it reboots into the teamwin bootloader, and finishes installing the update(which always seems to work for first 2 steps but says no contents in file, then 2 errors after) I lose root access and it asks if I want to reapply (which I do) and it loads as normal on a restart. I am with build number JWR66N now, but the info page on the TWRP window shows it updates JWR66N to (And I forgot the number here, but its different)
So I'd like to know, is it normal to have 'constant' android updates like this, and if not, what build number should I have?
I have had this issue since about a week after I got my nexus, its been rooted ever since, but in an attempt to fix this issue(Which is just annoying, I doubt its causing any real damage) I unrooted the nexus, updated it(Manually) and re-rooted it using the wugfresh rootkit.
I have a Xperia Z on T-Mobile I recently updated for 4.1 to 4.2 & now my data speeds are slower or nonexistent at certain areas of my job. I just wanted to know how is it possible for this to happen because I had a Galaxy SII with Sprint & the exact same thing happened.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy droid razr was installing an automatic update, made an error and then failed ultimately. It happened over night, so I wasn't even paying attention to it. This morning it was stuck with no service, no data, nothing. I tried turning it off and then back on, putting airplane mode on and then off. No luck. I then did a factory reset. Now it just says "please wait, this may take a few minutes." It does not change. I waited as long as the batter would stay charged. Still nothing.
I also tried re activating it on the verizon wireless website. No luck.

A few months ago it started randomly resetting itself. 2 months ago it started resetting itself then going into a reset loop for a few minutes until it stayed on. A little while ago it just started shutting off and not turning back on for a couple of hours.
I searched on Google and there was a suggestion to update the software. I read the instructions and noted it said to do a backup. I went to m.sonyericcson.com/backup on the phone, downloaded the latest backup software, and created a backup. Took quite awhile but said it was successful. I then connected to the computer and did the software update. Turned the phone on and tried to do my restore thinking everything worked great. Unfortunately when I load the backup file it says
File Error: Cannot read selected backup file
Did I just totally ***** myself and lose all of my data? Any ideas on how to make this backup file work? I will go back to 1.6 if it means I can actually use my phone, at this point it is useless without any of my contacts, programs or text conversations
