Sprint HTC Hero :: Not Getting Texts With Handcent While Phone Is Idle / Sort It Out?
Dec 10, 2009This is a multi question post kinda =). If I kill Handcent with task killer and put my phone in sleep mode with a single press of the power key I will not get any texts until I wake my phone up and then they all roll in. If I don't kill the task I seem to get texts while the phone is idle and asleep. Also I set the default text app the hancent now when ever I send a text it only opens handcent which is good, but if I receive a text it opens handcent the default app and google voice.
Any ideas on how to sort this out ? I did a forum search but did not find any thing that solved my issues.

May 2, 2010How can I send a text to groups with over 20 contacts in them? I have two work groups that range from 20 to 25 members and often need to get messages to them. I switched from a Blackberry and like the new phone a great deal but I really need to have the ability to send large group texts.

Nov 29, 2009I tried searching for an answer to this, but had no luck. I've just ditched the stock Messaging App for Handcent and am really liking it (as many have here have said). BUT, when I send an MMS or even a simple text, I can't seem to send to email addresses that I had saved (I typically send to some phones and emails at the same time). I could do this with the stock app. Any ideas for me...I feel dizzy from looking through all the Handcent options and can't find anything.

Dec 15, 2009I have been trying to send a text message to an email adress using handcent but haven't been able to? Is it possible to do this? I also thought that I read that you could do this using the stock messaging app, but haven't been able to figure out how to do it there either. Sep 16, 2010after installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

May 22, 2010I am hoping someone here will be able to assist me with a problem I've been encountering with my HTC Hero. When I plug it in to the USB port, the computer doesn't recognize the device. I've tested the USB ports with various other devices and it recognizes all of them but the Hero. I did get it to sync briefly and begin the upgrade to 2.1, but then it disconnected again after only being synched for a minute or so. I've restarted everything, and I do have the USB debugging enabled. I've scoured the web and forums looking for a solution and just can't find one. I'm running XP, SP3.

Feb 11, 2010I posted a a few days ago about my Hero not syncing with my pc. In short, although the phone charges, neither the hero or the pc recognize each other. Nothing happens. I tried various computers and cables to no avail. Yesterday, I took it into a sprint store to a guy I know is knowledgeable with the Hero (he is the manger and uses a hero) and even he was stumped. I just bought this phone used. I still am within the 30 days to purchase insurance for this phone. Is my only option to purchase insurance, pay a $50 deductible and send in the phone to get fixed?

Aug 2, 2010I recently lost the charger and cable that came with the phone, and bought another one, but the actual connector is slightly different. When I plug my phone into my computer, I don't get anything, either on the phone or on the computer, except that the phone does start charging. I get no "start USB service" or whatever option in the phone and the phone does not show up as a drive. Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. I'm guessing it's the cable, but I'd like to confirm before going out and buying another cable.

Jun 14, 2010I am using the stock texting option and have a group set up. This weekend I sent out a group text and several of them went to the email addresses. I think this is because the ?primary? contact is the phone then the email address. Before the update all texts would go to the proper number so the people would get the texts. Does anybody know how to change the ?primary? contact? I hate to think this is just another thing that 2.1 added (or took away) to make this phone??.well less that I expect at this point.

Most of my friends have iPhones and when they send a group text message it shows up as a blank message for me. I downloaded Go SMS Pro and it still doesn't work in there. I don't want any app that would give me a new number. BTW, I receive group texts from those of my friends that have Windows phones just fine.

I start saving them to phone instead of Google when giving the option, thinking i could just sync whenever i upgraded ROMS. I was wrong i lost some contacts, restoring older ROMS. It now shows a box that says download and when I push the download button it doesnt do anything. Mar 10, 2010For the last 2 weeks I have randomly not been receiving text messages. Also just today I had a friend send a picture with text and I saw the pop up, went to Chomp SMS and clicked on the play button to play the slide show. Once I tapped the message, it disappeared. I can no longer find the picture or the message that went along with it. It is very frustrating because I know people are trying to send me photos and messages and I am not even getting them or they are disappearing before I can get/read them. I even checked the original Messages app and the missing texts/photos do not show up there. Is this a Sprint issue or a Hero issue? And is there a fix?

Feb 19, 2010I rooted my phone and put fresh 1.1 on it a couple days ago, it received calls after rooting, but recently it stopped receiving calls, and it never received texts or visual voice mails. Gmail still pushes new email to it, and the internet works fine to update things and look at websites.
I tried to restore with nandroid and it took fresh off of it but it still doesn't do text, don't know about calls but i doubt it. also when i rooted it i removed sprint tv, nascar, foot prints and a couple other stock apps. after i found it wasn't getting texts i removed advanced task killer, but it didn't have any effect.
