Sprint HTC Hero :: Live Wallpapers On Rooted Stock 2.1
Aug 9, 2010
If there is a add-on that can be flashed over the stock sense-UI 2.1? I am of course rooted but want to retain the stock look and feel. I do realize there are roms out there that do this but I have a lot of time invested in tweaking the stock rom and it works excellent for my needs. I just want to rock the Super Mario live wallpaper!

I recently just rooted my phone to 2.0d and added the live wallpapers to it. Well after I added the live wallpapers my google navigation wasn't working properly. Whenever I try to use it, it doesn't show my route like where I'm going. It looks like just a black screen in the middle and the voice doesn't work.

Kind of like how I was able to install the Stock N1 live wallpapers to my Moment? Shouldn't it be availible once the Galaxy S is rooted? Some of those new ones I've seen on the Galaxy S look really nice

Iam currently running a rooted 2.1 ROM on my Hero and was wondering how to install live wallpapers, ive downloaded a zip file ...........LWP-Enabler_update_signed.zip - sensehero - Optional Addon - Live Wallpaper Enabler - ATTENTION - Removes Gallery3D and could cause system instability - SenseHERO 2.1 Builds Only - Project Hosting on Google Code. then downloaded the wallpapers from the market but cannot find a way to actually get them in use?

Ever since I rooted my phone to Fresh 2.0D and learned how to do the Live Wallpapers hack as well, I have enjoyed my phone so much that I am changing my mind about getting the EVO. I am one of those geeks that has to have all the newest toys but since I've rooted and installed a custom Rom I find myself comparing my phone to the EVO and slowly realizing that my phone can be just as good. It really was the tethering thing that changed my mind. I think I will get the EVO once someone has learned to root it and do amazing things with it but until then, I am keeping the Hero. I truly love this phone.

I read somewhere that there is a zip file you can put on your phone and it "unlocks" the live wallpapers as an option. It was somewhere on these forums be it moment, eris, or hero. I would assume if it was on another phones page the concept would be the same. Any info on this my fellow Hero comrades?

I just installed 2.1 on my wifes Hero yesterday and when I go to switch to Live Wallpapers, it doesnt give me the option of picking them from a Live Wallpaper folder. I installed the Fresh Rom on my hero and it added the Live Wallpapers folder for me to pick from.

I manually rooted my sprint 2.1 stock rom & removed all sprint bloatware. Running very smoothly & seems to be able to keep up with me. Even after calibrating the keyboard, it can keep up to my 75wps (when flipped horizontal)!
Is there anything, any customizations or whatnot, available for us stock users? I work nearly full-time on a retail schedule and have a highly active toddler so I really don't want to mess with flashing stuff because I *rarely* have more than a half hour-45 minutes to myself XP

I rooted and flashed with fresh 1.1 and it's got amazingly fast! My question is how do I remove the stock message app that sprint put on there? I have chompSMS as my txt app. I took a look at the pre-kitchen, but I use a mac so wanted to see if there are any other alternatives.

I've had my Hero for 6 months now and since I saw the release of the N1, I have had a big lust for Live Wallpapers. I downloaded the official 2.1 update from HTC but as I suspected, no Live wallpapers. My Hero is rooted and I have searched for a good live wallpapers ROM but cannot find one. So i was wondering if there is a good ROM that allows me to have Live Wallpapers while still maintaining Sense UI and 2.1. But I want one thats stable and everything works well (VillainROM is perfect but Wi-Fi doesn't work).

has anyone rooted and used the hero without flashing a rom? even for a little while? my main question is: did or can anything go wrong with a rooted -only- phone? if i cant get the update anywhere ill finally root to delete the useless sprint apps but im happy with the OS as is so im not interested in the risks that may be involved with flashing. thank you for your patience as im new to android.

Just curious to see what programs people are using to create wallpapers for the Hero. I'm using a program called Android Converter. It's a music, video, and wallpaper converter in one. I guess it gets the job done as far as making wallpapers go, but you lose a lot of image quality in the process. So what's the Android forums advice on a program to use?

There's been a lot of comparison between the stock Hero and Moment but I was wondering if anyone has played with both a rooted Hero and Moment. Becoming more and more set on switching over to the Hero.Rooted & got CL14 on my Moment last night thanks to zefie, numus, and the great guys at sdx, but maybe I just had my expectations too high as I didn't see a large improvement over the stock kernel & ROM, esp in speed (did fix the battery meter and improved battery life thank god!).I understand rooting a Hero makes it faster but by how much? How does it compare to a rooted Moment running a home replacement app (like PandaHome)? This way I feel it's comparing apples to apples in terms of experience, as opposed to compared to a rooted Moment running stock home.Ever since I got the Moment, I've been trying to get Sense-like stuff on it (like a lot of ppl haha). Coming from the less-sophisticated BB Curve, I was surprised when stock Android didn't support things like Facebook integration (I know it's coming in 2.1, but HTC has it now).

So according to this thread the Orange update is finally (maybe) arrived.
I'm on a rooted Orange Hero running SenseHero2.1. I'd rather not have to unroot my phone to try out the official 2.1 ROM. Chances are I'd try and go back to using the custom ROM anyway.
So is there a way to get a rooted 'stock' Orange 1.5 ROM on my phone, so that I could try getting the update OTA for 2.1?
