HTC Desire :: Way To Open Attachments?

Nov 24, 2010My company has both Ev's and Intercepts. When users forward email using these devices the forwarded message gets attached as a .e mail file and neither can open attachments sent by these phones.

Aug 1, 2010We will be replacing our Palm Treo 755s with HTC EVOs. I have one now and am tasked with getting all the synchronization set up and working for the 30 attorneys and administrative staff I support. The only issue I am having is that I am unable to see, let alone open attachments on emails I receive on the phone. I can see that the message has an attachment because it has a paper clip next to the subject/sender in the email list. When I open the email, I see no evidence of an attachment. One thing I just figured out was that I can open PDF attachments as the phone came with a PDF viewer, but cannot open .DOCs even though I have installed the Docs Togo basic program. (It includes the DOC and XLS viewers). Is this not sufficient to open the attachments? If not is there some other FREE app that will allow me view these attachments on my EVO?

Dec 25, 2011I cannot open email attachments of any type using the stock email or TouchDown app, which I use to pull email from my job's Exchange Server. Email functions fine otherwise. I can see that an email has an attachment, but when i click to download, the process begins then always ends with the message 'Not implemented". This happens will all file types.
I'm using an AT&T SGSII with Android 2.3.6

Oct 5, 2010Yahoo Mail app has worked great every since I've had the EVO. Sprint updated my profile today (turn on the picture mail app) and every since that time, I have not been able to open attachments. I have rebooted several times, un installed and re-installed the yahoo app, updated my profile and PRL. Still no luck. Any ideas?

Jan 2, 2010How do I get emails to open attachments that use excel? I downloaded docs to go but when I open the email and try to open the attachment, it says the attachment can't be displayed. It works very nicely on my Storm 2, but I switch back and forth with the droid and need to be able to open the docs with the droid as well.

Jul 8, 2009I've written an app that can handle the VIEW action for a given mime Type, say "application/foo". By adding the following to Android Manifest.xml the Browser automatically uses my app to open downloads of that type. The G Mail app also tries to use my app to Preview attachments of that type, but it's passing a URI with scheme "g mail-ls://" rather than a "file://" URI. I guess I need to use a Content Provider to get the attachment data, I haven't looked into that yet. But the real mystery is the Email app there just doesn't seem any way to make it open the attachments. Any pointers? Opening attachments is a very common requirement of course, and I would expect the Android platform to encourage developers to write apps to handle more mime types. Instead I couldn't find any answers.

May 20, 2010My friend and I have HTC Hero phones. I am with Sprint, she is with Cellular South (a carrier here in south Mississippi). We are both unable to see pictures sent to us as part of an email (like pictures in a joke). And she is unable to open pictures as email attachments in her Yahoo acct. We have played with settings and Goggled this problem, to no avail. nothing works.

Oct 4, 2010I have a non-rooted 2.2 Inc with the 2.3 version G mail app. Since updating to 2.3, I can no longer preview/download attachments. The app gets stuck on "Fetching Attachment" and eventually force closes. I've sought help from Google but there's no official answer to this issue. Does anyone here have any advice? I've even gone so far as to do a factory reset, but to no avail. Like many of you, the Incredible is my workhorse on the road and I desperately need the ability to open attachments.

Nov 26, 2010I have a Samsung Mesmerize through US Cellular. I am getting my company email on the phone just fine.. But when I get emails with attachments I have to save the attachments on the phone then navigate to where they are saved to be able to view them. Is there a setting that can be changed or an app to download that will allow me to view the files without saving them to the SD card?

I can open/view attachments that have been sent to me, however I cannot open/view attachments in email messages that I have sent. I can see the attachment, and it's file extension, but when I click on it nothing happens. There is no open or save button like there would be normally. EDIT: I have read the other threads on this forum referring to issues with email attachments and none of them had the solution to my problem.

May 5, 2010Trying to figure out why I can't open file attachments from emails. Received some pdf files and two doc files today. Tried opening files from email with pdf reader program and quickoffice or whatever its called. Neither type of file would open. Tried to download then open files with same problem. Files are definitely .pdf and .doc, just opened and rad them on laptop now. Also confused...is there any way to look at my SD card folders and files through a phone app? Can't figure out how to see anything other then my music and photos.

This can be done any which way, and I'm open to suggestions if you can tell me how to send over network or something like that. Currently, I'm looking at sending the file as an email attachment, but I haven't found any good documentation on how to do it. I need two things to accomplish this, be able to send my file (stored on sd card or somewhere on device) as an attachment, and have my app recognized by android as the app to open an attachment with the file extension (.lst).

Sep 22, 2010I wonder if one of you kind souls could help with a couple of probs I'm having with my HTC Desire.
The first problem is with text messages with photos attached. I see "Slideshow- 1 slide" but when I try to view it, I just see the text that was included in the message on a black background. If I go to save the slide, I check the box and then "Done" and get "Unable to save attachment".
And secondly, I can't seem to get Picasa to work. I select a photo on the phone, go to Share With, then Picasa and it asks me to login to my google account. I do this, and then it just goes back to the picture without uploading or doing anything! It's driving me mad!

Oct 28, 2010Basically I bought something off eBay and received a generic email to my hotmail account to say I'd won the auction. When I try to open in it does nothing, when I try and delete it it force closes the email program (I use the stock email program)I went to my email account on my PC and the email isn't even on the server!
Also my other account (also hotmail) has wiped out my entire inbox! luckily it's my old email account and I don't think I had anything important in it.I set my settings as follows a month or so ago.and havn't had any issues untill now.

Aug 9, 2010I'm new to all this wifi stuff. I have no problems connecting my Desire to my wifi at home, which is great. But at work (or at least in the vicinity of my office) there is an open wifi point. I have now tried on several occasions to connect to it, but it always fails. It gets as far as trying to get the IP address then nothing happens until the connection fails. Then it starts trying to connect again, but it gets stuck every time on getting the IP address.This would not concern me if it weren't for the fact that other work colleagues (one of whom also has a Desire) have managed to connect without a problem. I've moved over to where those people work, in case it was a pure location thing, but still no success.Is there something obvious that I've missed on this? Or anything that I could try? Obviously I'd like not to have to use my data allowance while at work if at all possible.

Jul 15, 2010I recieved my HTC Desire 3 days ago, and I really like it, but I have 1 problem. Where I work we got a open wireless network with password protection when you open your web browser. I got no problems connecting to the network, but I dont get the pop-up box where I have to write in the password. Tried with the built in browser and opera mini, but neither of em work. Anyone else got a problem like that, or any idea how I can get this working?
