View 4 Replies View RelatedI've seen a few posts about this, but i wanted to ask again and see if anything new has come up.I'm happy with my USER dictionary, because i check it every couple days to make sure there's no crazy stuff in there that will pop up while typing.However, i would really like to be able to edit the dictionary that comes on the Hero. The biggest gripe i have is that EVERY time i type "the" it replaces it with "Tue"Wouldn't the dictionary be a file on the phone? Seems like you should be able to edit it after rooting, no?

For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
When traveling near my home area I encounter areas with no Sprint service. The phone roams into Verizon network which is very strong in my area. Beginning last week when I attempt to make a call when roaming on Verizon I get a message stating Verizon can not verify this phone number unable to make call. I contacted Sprint about the problem. They suggested a few things i already did, update PRL and profile etc.... which did not help. They told me there was nothing they could do because they cant guarantee service on their phones when roaming. This baffles me because phone roamed fine on Verizon for 6 months all of a sudden it doesnt. Any ideas on how this can be fixed? About 30 percent of my home town has no Sprint coverage so I guess I am just SOL.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I flashed CM6 tonight and everything seemed to go fine.However, I have NO SERVICE at all with it. I did revert back to previous stock ROM and had service just fine.Reinstalled CM6 thinking maybe that would fix it - no go.If it is not one thing, it is another anytime I try to install a new ROM.
View 12 Replies View RelatedTried to access it today and it was saying that i was entering the wrong pin. I know for a fact that it was right. Now i'm locked out of it and it says to call sprint to continue. I talked to them for about 45 minutes, they switched me over to HTC for another 30 and then back to sprint for another hour. They had me hard reset the phone twice and it didn't do anything. Was on the phone with advanced tech for the last hour and they finally said to wait 2 hours and it should reset itself. Well, it's now been about 5 and it still won't work... Any ideas on how to get it to work?
View 13 Replies View RelatedMy Hero is going haywire. I was trying to download some apps from the market today and they don't want to start. So I rebooted my phone to see if it made any difference. Now when it starts up I get error messages that the com.android.phone and a few others are not working and have to force a close. I have no service either. All the installed apps and components are working but not phone itself. I am with Cellular South in Mississippi and my wife has a Hero also which is working normally so I know it's not a network issue.

Is anyone aware of a listing of apps that require Android 2.1 to run (e.g. apps like Google Goggles, etc.)? I've searched the threads here at Android Forums and elsewhere and haven't been able to find such a list or site.
Now that I upgraded to 2.1, I'd like to "see what I've been missing" and take advantage of the new OS.
I had a weird issue that has sprung up twice now with making phone calls and I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. Visually everything looks like it is functional with my phone service on the phone. I have bars, nothing out of the ordinary. However, I can't make any outbound calls either through my contacts or by manually dialing. I the number pad and it makes the response noise but doesn't actually type the number. In contacts, I hit call and the same thing happens. The fix I have found is just to soft boot the phone. Now I hear you all saying "No big deal, just restart." Yeah, it is no big deal unless I have to make a call in an emergency say calling 911 or things of that nature. Waiting for 5 minutes for my phone to reboot in an emergency can cost lives. I know I am being a little dramatic, but c'mon, at the end of the day, it is a phone and it is having trouble making calls.

It is not allowing me to use the phone at all, it says no service. Even the sprint website has my phone greyed out as if it don't exist. Now if I do a hard reset, everything comes back on, but I lose everything. This is my second Hero and I am hoping that there is a fix. I went to HTC email support site to try and get a solution and it is down, getting really frustrated with this phone. I downloaded apps from the market and transfered music to the sd card.
Im sure it is posted somewhere, but I just can't seem to find it.How does one go about uninstalling Sprint bloatware on a rooted phone?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if the upcoming Android 2.1 update to the Sprint Hero will allow us to save apps to the SD card without having to root the phone? And also, some things to think about: remember that the Hero only runs class 2 speeds, even if the card is class 6. Do you think this will change once we receive Android 2.1? Because if not, I would imagine that the phone would be slow opening apps (assuming apps to SD will be available).I know that if they do program the Hero to allow class 6 speeds, and allow apps to SD (without root) then the Hero could run MUCH faster than it does now.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got my invite to Google voice and I was super excited, but then I found out there were some issues with Sprint playing nice with GV. I have a couple of questions for any of you using GV with sprint network. FYI, I have the any mobile any time plan. Questions:
1. I understand that sprint treats GV as a landline call, does this mean that it will eat my minutes with every call? also, is there a workaround for this? 2. should I get a google number or keep my number 3. if i get a google number can people still call my old number? 4. I read a lot about call forwarding and some *28 and *73 options, but i couldn't wrap my head around what to actually do. I know sprint dropped some 20 cent charge, but I also read that in some situations that charge still applies. 5. can you cancel out of the service after you have signed up.
My phone was almost dead today so I just turned it off. When I got home and plugged it in and turned it back on I didn't have any service. It says no service. I have turned it on and off several times and have taken the battery out and put it back several times and nothing works. I have only had the phone for approximately 3 days. Anything I can do to fix it myself? I can't even pull up the phone pad or certain settings because I get an error message. I called technical support but because I can't get to the phone pad they can't help me.

Now i have a HTC Hero and can't find any way of adding words to the phone keypad T9 dictionary. I used to start a word, then click the drop down arrow, then press "add word", but it appears that this option is non-existent on the Hero. Is this because i was using the "Chinese imput" input option or have they just moved this on the Hero.
