Dec 16, 2009Everyone I tried to download an attachment from my Exchange email account, it shows a little clock icon spinning, then after a few seconds it stops and gives back an error: "Alert: Network Error". I tried to change the setting to various settings (such as downloading size, attachment download location, etc.) to no avail. I was able to download the same attachment from my gmail account so this seems to be exchange server mail related.
I have a Sprint HTC Hero phone with Fresh 1.0 ROM loaded. I am not sure if this is Fresh related but I vaguely remembered that I was able to download attachment before but I am not sure.

Aug 7, 2010Like many other people, I have the issue where I cannot connect to my exchange e-mail because of security settings. I was able to resolve the issue the first time by using Lockpicker. I had to reset my phone, root, and install fresh rom again. Now I am trying to use lockpicker again, but it doesn't work anymore. I have tried everything I can think of and have searched extensively. Touchdown can connect, but there is no way I am paying for that when I was able to get the stock email app working the first time.

Jul 25, 2010So the Verizon-based ROMs don't support my Exchange Server's policies while the Hero-based ROMs do. This would be all fine and dandy if not for the realization that I haven't found a Hero-based ROM that I like. It would be great if there was a way to take the Hero mail app and add it to one of my favorite ROMs like xtrROM or Aloysius.

Feb 23, 2010That's right. I have my gmail account linked to the Mail app (not the Gmail app, just didnt like UI) and it has been working fine until today. Now, the app won't retrieve mail from my account. I am looking at my mail app, and dont see the new mail that I am seeing when viewing my in box on my computer. Yes, I have pressed menu>refresh, and yes I have tried rebooting.

Apr 15, 2010I have not gotten my picture mail since The 1st of the month.I have gotten like 4 total that have slipped through. I have called Sprint like 8 times and was told it was a known problem with the HTC Hero. I asked if it possibly had anything to do with the 2.1 upgrade.I was told absolutely not! On the 7th, one operator told me that the upgrade was coming out on the 9th.On the 9th, no upgrade.So I called and was told that it was coming, but unsure when, but still unrelated.Called again this Monday, still a known unrelated issue. I was offered a service credit if $35.00. Called today and spoke with Operator Pamela. She told me that it is a known problem and would be fixed with the 2.1 update.She said it was suppose to come out on the 9th but got pushed to the end of the month.Keep checking sprint.com/download.

Feb 16, 2010Is there a way to filter out messages coming into the phone from the exchange server? I used to do this on my Blackberry, but I can't make it work on the Hero. I receive emails for every engineering release that goes out at my work. On my laptop I can review the attached file, a SNP generated by Access. On the Berry and the Hero I can't, so I would like to not have them cluttering my inbox.

I can sync with RoadSync, and with Touchdown, however thier interfaces kinda suck! (they don't populate the stock interface. ie: calendar, contacts, or mail) not only that, but they cost $!
I have read everything I could find on the web, I have talked till I was blue in the face to sprint. (sorry maybe that's why I'm so grumpy this AM. they don't know much of anything other than how to apologize for not knowing much of anything!)
I run a small business server (2003) with exchange 2003 integrated. By default, when installing, my exchange server is assigned a ".local" extention. Installation errors out all over the place if you try to use a ".com or net" etc. so even though I can add a public email domain to exchange ie: "mydomain.net", exchange still presents a certificate with the ".local" extension. Android dosen't give me an error log to confirm my suspicions; however when installing "roadsync" I get an un-trusted certificate warning AND the option to accept it. (similar with "Touchdown")

Apr 21, 2010I've read a few "pre-reviews" of 2.1 and have yet to see any comments on better performance as it relates to syncing w/ Exchange Servers.Can anyone who has 2.1 loaded, that also uses an Exchange Server, comment on performance? I know that with 1.5, even though the settings are dictating the phone to sync upon arrival, there are times where it hasn't synced for more than a day.Just curious to see if this has been improved.

When I set it up I told it not to sync my contacts and calendar because I usually sync my work calendar with Google Calendar Sync. However, I am now using Office 2010 Beta at work and Google Calendar Sync does not support it.

Feb 9, 2010ok heres the deal, i have my work email on my hero. i set it up before i rooted flashed fresh 1.1 and installed gumbo kernal. i installed nandroid backup last night and ever since, i can no trecieve or send and email. it says theres an authentication error. i called our customer support and all my info to set it up is correct. the acct is for yum brands in case anyone has anymore info.

May 3, 2010I have recently gone up from Fresh 1.1 to Fresh 2.0d. Everything is working great, but for some reason Exchange items are not showing up in the calendar. The exchange calendar is selected in the calendar selection option. Items added to the phone calendar as exchange items are synced to my Outlook/Exchange calendar, so there is some communication going on. However, my calendar stubbornly refuses to display the Exchange items.
Anyone know why this might be? I can't figure it out...
Sprint HTC Hero :: Exchange Sync Bug Or Working As Expected
Nov 20, 2009When I set my HTC Hero to sync with exchange "As Items Arrive", the phone is constantly synching and therefore my battery drains. Even when I turn off the phone, the phone uis still awake since it is constantly checking/sync-ing with exchange. I was under the impression that by selecting this type of sync, the items would be "pushed" to the device rather than the device constantly checking if there are new messages, contacts, or calendar eventsto sync. Is this expceted behaviour, or is there some other tweak I need to do? By the way, I just updatedmy phone yesterdey to the latest firmware, and the issue still persist.

Jul 11, 2010I have rooted 2.1 on my Sprint Hero. So far I have tried Fresh 2.3.3, Darchdroid 2.7 and PureHero 2.3.I rooted for several issues, most of which have been solved, but my number one issue seems to still be haunting me. Good corporate exchange support! Sense based ROM's (Fresh 2.3.3 and stock) support Exchanges security policy and force you to enter a PIN, but bring up the keyboard. My company requires number in the PIN and therefore I have to switch to numbers and enter my pin on a keyboard. I can no longer chew gum and use my phone at the same time. Nonsense based ROM's (Darch and Pure) don't require the PIN and allow me to use a pattern security on my phone, but they don't let me overlay my exchange calendar onto my phone with my google calendar. They only sync mail and contacts. Hope this is where I am missing something. This is a deal breaker for me since I have google calendars for everyone in my family and exchange for work. Got to see them all in one place to be where I need to be.I have tried Lockpicker on the sense ROM's, but then I have no phone security. I have too much info on my phone to go with no security, but I don't want to quit chewing gum.Any suggestions? Is there ways to pick and choose some of the features in sense?

Sep 17, 2009This has been one of only a couple of bugbears I'm experiencing with my Hero. While Exchange syncs perfectly for mail, contacts and calendars, it fails to display Outlook folders in the proper way. Does anyone else experience this?
I have something like 20 folders, most of which have subfolders, and then some of those have more subfolders. In Outlook, it's perfect (naturally). On the Hero, it seems to display them almost randomly - certainly not in the hierarchy they should be, or even alphabetically. With 100+ folders (some with the same name), this is a pain when on the move and relying on the phone to give me access to stuff.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
I've tried the 5 day trial of one of the Exchange apps (can't remember the name) but found it clunky and removed double-quick. Don't like RoadSync either. Plus, I don't see why I should pay for an app when the default one should do the job properly.
Also, on the subject of Exchange, is there any way to get tasks to sync? I'm having to use Gmail to "copy" tasks from Outlook (PITA), and don't really want to add a third party app to manage just those.
I guess it's a case of waiting a few months for some kind of update ... or is that me being a little too optimistic?

Its works for about an hour and then after the phone has been sleeping for awhile nothing shows up. Same thing happens when i have it set to pull every 5min. Help would be great...

Sprint HTC Hero :: Error Occurred On Computer Running Exchange Server
Oct 15, 2009I am having the following issue with Exchange. When I setup the phone initially, I was able to synch my email, contacts, and calendar just fine. However, I started noticing that my emails had a delayed vs my computer. My Hero was syncing only every 5 minutes or so (I do have selected the option to get emails as they arrive). Eventually, I went to settings, data synchronization, exchange activesync, and there is an error message that says 'Error occurred on the computer running the exchange server'.
It also seems that it hasn't synced the contacts and calendar in a while, apparently it stops after failing to sync email. The funny thing is that I am actually do getting new emails just not as they arrive, but as I said before, every 5 mins or so. Another thing is that If I click on Synch now. I do not get that error message and it syncs mail, contacts and calendar just fine, but again when it tries to do it on its own, the error message comes up again.

Oct 30, 2009I know there's an EAS thread but I couldn't find a solid answer to this question - Does the Exchange ActiveSync implementation on the HTC Hero from Sprint support advanced security features of Exchange server mainly enforcing Pin Locking and enabling Remote Device Wipe via Exchange? I know iPhone does and the Palm Pre does after WebOS v1.1. I'm very interested in the HTC Hero but need to be able to connect to my corporate exchange server. It's a large company so I cannot have my device added to an exception list or anything.

Nov 25, 2009alright, my dad's phone (post update) is at 100% awake time. it wasn't pre-update. my phone is also sitting at a higher awake time post update. i first thought the culprit was the mail app running more often. i have to force close it more frequently now. well, my dad complained about his battery again and i checked the awake time. 100%. he also asked me which programs were essential and i told him to kill the mail app. he said he keeps it open all the time cause he uses it all the time. sooo, now it is looking more to me like it is the mail app keeping the phone from sleeping.

Mar 13, 2010well i got my phone two months ago, after 1 week of having it my picture mail messages were not coming in, they would get the download, then "unsuccesful download." After dealing with Sprint they convinced me it was a problem on 1 in 4 phones and i had to give up my brand new phone for a stupid refurbished phone. It ended up working until now, around 1 1/2 months.This is not a Wifi Issue, i dont have it turned on, and i am aware of that problem. I have 90mb free on my phone, ive cleared all my caches, pulled battery, turned mobile network off and on. Over the last month i have been getting the download button but they would come through. I would then get a picture message from someone i didnt have a conversation open with, then i would open it and the message would dissapear. Well now today none are going through, its extremely frustrating and i dont want to tell my fanboy iPhone friends they have to email me pictures.
The one workaround to go to the website and view them would be fine if i could view them on my phone. I dont want to log into sprint to view NWS pictures at work.I can log on through my phone, but when going to messages nothing shows. up.I know about the wiping the phone, but that is hours of work getting all apps, setting up my custom scenes, adding all bookmarks, adding all my passwords in the password keeper, rooting, adding all my roms and kernels again.THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING.I love this phone except for this simple function it cant perform.
