HTC Hero :: Sync Yahoo Account With Yahoo Mail And The Mail On Phone
Aug 28, 2009Not got the phone yet.. but it looks good.. as an Apple fan i love the Iphone but im not willing to change carrier or pay what they want.. so i think the hero is my best option.. What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... With Android being google will i be able to do this from the phones email client like the iphone does...

Jun 29, 2010I set up my yahoo mail account with the default droid incredible app and k9 as well afterwards, both of them have the same problem....they only retrieve 4-5 e-mails instead of the whole thing, as for k9, same thing, but it does it for all the folders...ive tried the imap settings, regular settings, etc.

Apr 15, 2010I've searched quite a bit and haven't been able to find anyone else with this problem.I've been using the built-in Mail app on my Hero for the last month with my Yahoo e-mail account (it's a Plus account, using the POP settings provided by Yahoo)...with zero issues. Yesterday, I noticed that I wasn't receiving new messages anymore. I've got the program set to update every hour, and even when manually clicking refresh, the phone would not download any new e-mail messages from my account (and wouldn't send either). There were no error messages though, it appeared to be synced up (the time would show up next to the sync symbol in the top left corner of the app.I knew my settings were correct, so I figured I would just try to delete the account and set it up again. I selected "delete account" and after giving confirmation, the message on the screen said that it was deleting the account but it never finished. The program wouldn't do anything, figured I'd try to force it to close with my task killer but Mail didn't even show up as running. Next step...shut the phone down and powered it back on. Opened Mail up and the account was no longer showing, however there is still some memory of it somewhere as when I attempt to set it up again it tells me that there is already an account with that e-mail address.I can get around that by setting up a new account and changing one character in my address until all the settings are entered in (and then go back and change it), but I'd like to find out if I can address this problem head on (without a hard reset).

Mar 17, 2010This is something I have wondered about Android OS/Hero/Sprint since day one of my purchase, but I have never brought it up here. When mobile network is off and WiFi is enabled, I cannot retrieve my Yahoo Mail. It has never really bothered me, because when mobile network is connected and WiFi is off, my mail app (which is connected to Yahoo - I don't use Gmail) worked perfectly fine. Does anybody else use Yahoo as their email server and has the same issue? Is it just Google sticking it to their customers and to Yahoo by saying "ok, if you wan't to use our (#1 competitor's) email service, then we will make it so it will only work on Mobile Networks.

Aug 21, 2009I'm having trouble setting up Yahoo Mail in the Mail app.The settings appear to be correct as detailed on http://popfwd.mail.yahoo.com/pf/PopConfig but it keeps saying "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password." I've tried the username with and without "@yahoo.co.uk" and double-checked that the password is correct.

Nov 18, 2009Ok, since day one ( 27 days ago ) My Sprint HTC Hero has worked flawlessly with my free Yahoo email acct. I just went to the email widget, typed in my email address and password, and it autoconfigured the imap settings. Worked like a charm. Yesterday it decided to "authentification failed, please verify your username/password"
Well, although my un/pw were right, I changed my pw just to be sure I wasnt being a dumbass, no luck. I googled the problem and heard some people changed to pop3 so I tried those settings, no luck. I even tried changing my preferred location to asia, lol, no luck.
I see this has been a problem for a LOT of people since the beginning, but whats really bothering me is I had yahoo for a month...problem free. So whats the deal with this? I am NOT paying for yahoo. this crap makes me crabby!

Jan 28, 2010for some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.

Now, the app won't retrieve mail from my account. I am looking at my mail app, and dont see the new mail that I am seeing when viewing my in box on my computer. Yes, I have pressed menu>refresh, and yes I have tried rebooting.

May 1, 2010I am trying to figure out whats going on. I have 2 DI for myself and girlfriend. I have my email (gmail and yahoo) setup through the HTC Mail Client and they work fine. I setup my other phone the same way and it worked fine, but once the yahoo account completed the process of downloading the inbox, I got an Authentication Error stating the login was incorrect. The login is not wrong and works fine to login via the standard web page. I tried to delete the Yahoo Account on the HTC, but when I went to setup again I had the same issue. Not sure how or why this could be happening. Any advice is appreciated. Also verified all the yahoo email settings on my working device and they are all the same on the other device with the issue.

Jul 18, 2010I have enjoyed being able to check all my e-mail accounts in one place, so despite having the Yahoo! Mail app that was recently put in the Market, I have been using the stock mail app to check my Yahoo! mail.Last night when I checked my Yahoo! Mail through the stock mail app, I was getting weird error messages. Most of the time it would go ahead and put me in my Yahoo! inbox but there would also be a message saying "login failed." I would click OK and then go about my business because e-mails were coming through. I figured it would sort itself out at some point.This morning, it was still doing it and it was annoying, so I re-booted the phone. Same problem. So I decided to delete the account and re-install it (a few weeks ago I had some issues with my Exchange mail account and deleting then re-installing fixed them.)Now, when I try to re-install the account it says "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password." I have tried it over and over. I know I am using the right username and password - I just used them on my desktop PC to get into the account. And my Yahoo! Mail app still works on the phone.Anyone have any ideas what has happened and/or how I can fix this? I really want to continue to be able to check my Yahoo! mail on my phone without having to use the Yahoo! app.

I remember getting this with handcent and default text program but easily shut that off. Can't seem to figure it out with mail. Any ideas how to disable the default mail notifications without deleting the account in the default mail app?

I am a Yahoo PLUS member, so I set it up as the yahoo mail site said to (plus.pop.mail.yahoo.mail etc). When I do a manual mail check, it takes FOREVER to download the emails! What is going on here? gmail is super fast to download, but the yahoo takes 5 minutes sometimes. i dont understand. I dont want to use the IMAP either.

Oct 2, 2013I got a Samsung Galaxy S4 last week. My home internet provider (Bell Aliant) seemingly does not allow SMTP relays from my wireless provider Koodo (Telus). Outgoing email does not send when I am not connected to wi-fi. I've seen this problem mentioned several times on the forum but never a 100% solution. iPhone email client allows 2 SMTP servers to be specified. Are there any android email clients that allow this?
I have a temporary solution where I have the native email client configured with the Bell Aliant SMTP server and K9 configured with the Telus SMTP server. I receive email to each and send from one or the other based on whether I am connected to wi-fi or not.
K9 allows you to configure the account twice but email still comes in twice and each email shows up twice in the combined inbox

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Jul 1, 2010So, Yahoo released its own mail and messenger apps today. I tried it out for about 5 minutes. It seems like a slimmer version of their Yahoo Go! that they used to have for Blackberry. So far, not impressed. But at least its a step in the right direction for them. They should just allow mail setup using IMAP or convert to exchange servers. That way Yahoo folks can have their calendars and contacts all synced up.

Aug 24, 2010It just stopped coming to mail account on EVO. All other accounts work fine including another yahoo acount. I deleted it and then put it back on the phone and I have the old emails but no new ones will transmit. Any solutions? thoughts? I am using mail droid to get mail from this account now but I want to use the main email function for this phone!
