Anyone know of a good E-Mail app so i can get my AOL E-Mail? i just rooted and installed CM6 and this is the only thing i'm missing from the stock sense rom

View 42 Replies View RelatedThat's right. I have my gmail account linked to the Mail app (not the Gmail app, just didnt like UI) and it has been working fine until today. Now, the app won't retrieve mail from my account. I am looking at my mail app, and dont see the new mail that I am seeing when viewing my in box on my computer. Yes, I have pressed menu>refresh, and yes I have tried rebooting.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo my EVO was damaged..well the back-light does not come on anymore(I think due to moisture).I've tried RICE and other Drying technique...no fix So 'm gonna put in a claim.Knowing I will probably not have a phone for a little bit, I bought a used Hero for a backup phone.(It will do for now, got it cheap).It came with the latest .6 Patched rom.I downgraded to .5 and rooted it.What's a good flash rom to try with 2.1 fixes wifi and mostly everything working? As most I wanted my phone a little bit faster/cleaner and more control(why I rooted). I still do like some HTC things but not all of it, can I install some of it back when I flash to a new Rom? I'm sorta new to this and first time Rooting. I'm still not sure how you flash new Rom.

I have not gotten my picture mail since The 1st of the month.I have gotten like 4 total that have slipped through. I have called Sprint like 8 times and was told it was a known problem with the HTC Hero. I asked if it possibly had anything to do with the 2.1 upgrade.I was told absolutely not! On the 7th, one operator told me that the upgrade was coming out on the 9th.On the 9th, no upgrade.So I called and was told that it was coming, but unsure when, but still unrelated.Called again this Monday, still a known unrelated issue. I was offered a service credit if $35.00. Called today and spoke with Operator Pamela. She told me that it is a known problem and would be fixed with the 2.1 update.She said it was suppose to come out on the 9th but got pushed to the end of the month.Keep checking sprint.com/download.

If its a toilet or some kind of non-chlorinated water, your phone most likely can recover. First shake it out as best as you can. If it is not off turn it off. Put it in a bowl of rice for about 12 hours. (just with the back off and the battery removed) then disassemble your phone as far as you can.
Take all pieces and set in the sun (preferably outside, unless you live in a humid climate) Seriously do not try to reassemble for 2 days! If you turn it on and any part is wet, you take the risk to short something out. Reassemble it. At least it works for me!
Anyone know of a good podcast management app. I was spoiled with apple's os. Right now I am just dragging them over, but when I have music everything gets mixed in with each other.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI just got a new 8gb memory card and want to dump a bunch of music to my Hero, but the music player seems lacking in many respects (functionally) despite looking nice (aesthetically). Has anyone tried other players that both work well and look stylish? sidenote - I was unable to format my memory card with it plugged into my network printer due to not having an adapter, but when the card is mounted and the hero is connected through usb it is reported as FAT32 in the open window. Do I need to worry about formatting? I wasn't sure if there would be any performance gain by doing so. Its a Transcend 8gb class 6.

So normally I just wipe it clean with a microfiber and it looks pretty good, however that does not always remove all the oils caught on the screen. I would think that over time, the oils sitting on the screen will end up degrading the screen or make it look nasty later on. I am wanting to clean it and not sure what to use. I have a cleaning kit we use on the document scanners at work. It has microfiber pads and a cleaning chemical which after reading the ingredients is just isopropyl rubbing alcohol.I heard the HTC Hero has a special coating on it that keeps it resistant to scratches and makes smudges easier to clean. My concern is that the isopropyl alcohol will beat up that coating.So after beating around the bush...the question is, what is the best way to do a good deep cleaning of the screen?

I'm specifically looking for one that will hold the phone in landscape mode so I can use the google turn-by-turn navigation (thanks for 2.1 flipz!!!). If you don't use a battery life widget, this probably isn't for you. I used to use Curve Fish's battery life widget which, in my initial testing months ago, didn't seem to affect battery life so I kept it and didn't think much about it.
My brother-in-law showed me a percentage indication that goes over the battery icon in the status bar on his Evo 4G. I found this hack for the Hero:

It adds the percentage remaining on top of your existing battery gauge in the status bar. Yes, root is required for this. At the time of writing this, I am at 14h 20m since unplugged and have 69% remaining. I would typically be between 47-53% remaining by this time. That equates to 3.5% drain per hour improved to 2.2% drain per hour. Which then comes out to around 60% increase in battery life without the loss of any features.
How bright do u have ur htc hero my brightness is about half way is this good does it drain the battery faster.

View 3 Replies View Relatedalright, my dad's phone (post update) is at 100% awake time. it wasn't pre-update. my phone is also sitting at a higher awake time post update. i first thought the culprit was the mail app running more often. i have to force close it more frequently now. well, my dad complained about his battery again and i checked the awake time. 100%. he also asked me which programs were essential and i told him to kill the mail app. he said he keeps it open all the time cause he uses it all the time. sooo, now it is looking more to me like it is the mail app keeping the phone from sleeping.
