With out using an app from Android Market or any kinds of side loaded apps, is there any way to add our own Email and text notification sounds? I have already created a "notification" folder on my phone and tried to load my own sounds but the phone would not see my sounds...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to move an ogg notification to the Epic's internal memory so it will play when the SD card is mounted, but I can't move it to the /system/media/audio/notifications folder. I think it's due to NAND not being unlocked? I have root access. tried creating a /media/audio/notifications folder in internal memory and I could move the file to that folder, but neither rings extended nor ringdroid will see it in that location. Is there someway that this is possible, or do we have to wait for NAND unlock? Surely this is an issue that lots of other people have had.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSuddenly the sound doesn't work for my text when I type or swype. I've turned on ALL sounds possible. (It still vibrates.) I can hear all the other sound effects and can hear the typing if I switch to Android Keyboard. But I like Swype!

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo if I have the messaging app open and on screen I don't get a notification sound for the message that I just got sent I have looked into settings and nothing, so if I respond to a message and put the phone down and they respond I dont know unless the app is closed - or I assume the screen is turned off but never tried that. I got 9 text messages from someone and it was important that I respond quickly, well I did and then put the phone down, they texted back 1 min latter and then again 1 min after that and again 1 min after that 8 times, I never saw them until I looked at the screen and that was like 5-6 min latter - screen timeout is set to 2 min but after the text after 1 min it reset that timer and again and again so I never got the message until 5-6 min after it was sent resulting in messages like "hello?" "WTF" "answer" and so on.

I'm dialing in my Droid 2, which is replacing my previous Blackberry Tour. I am importing all my audio files for ringtones, notifications, and alarms.
I have done the following:
Connected my phone to my computer
Mounted my SD card
Created a Media folder on the card
Created an Audio sub-folder within Media
Created Ringtones, Notifications, Alarms, and MP3s folders within Audio
My custom ringtones show up when I'm selecting them in Settings, and RingDroid also shows all of my files (currently placed in Ringtones and Notifications). However, if I go to my GMail app and settings, when I go to select a custom notification ringtone, only the ones that shipped with the Droid 2 show up. I also checked Settings, and no custom notification sounds come up.
When i get a email through google mail i get a notification sound. i have a btinternet and hotmail account set up as well but when i receive a email with either of them i get no sound to notify me ? i have ticked the email notifications and notification sound on for both email accounts , theres no choice for the sound just turn on or off but still no sound when i receive email from either ?

If I happen to get a notification sound, it is the default notification sound I set for my emails, et cetera. I use Handcent and have from the beginning. I set, reset, and reset my Handcent notification sound to be "pixie dust" but like I said, I'm not getting any notification sounds for my texts. Is anyone else having this issue on Nonsensikal? I didn't have this issue with version 12.5. Any advice, tips, or suggestions would be helpful.

I can change it to any of the preloaded stock sounds and click ok but when I get a text it still plays the stock sound. I also tried using custom and that didnt work either. I have searched and searched and found nothing. And I am using the proper folder structure on the sd card for the customs. Does anyone have any ideas at all? Im getting very frustrated.

I would prefer that instead of using the various cute sound effects that come with the phone, I want to have a voice that says, "new email" or "new message" instead of the various beeps and chimes. Ideally, I would like to use the text to speech engine that comes with the phone to do this like what the Navigation app. How can I set up the notifications to activate the text to speech engine to say a certain phrase? If that is not possible, how can I activate the text to speech engine to say a phrase and then save the output to a sound file which I can then select as the notification for those various apps?

My ringtone works as my new one. My notification sound plays my preference (Clapton's Layla) when I have an email and such, however, when I get a text message, it still plays the default sound. Is there somewhere you change this other than notification sounds?
