View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm dialing in my Droid 2, which is replacing my previous Blackberry Tour. I am importing all my audio files for ringtones, notifications, and alarms.
I have done the following:
Connected my phone to my computer
Mounted my SD card
Created a Media folder on the card
Created an Audio sub-folder within Media
Created Ringtones, Notifications, Alarms, and MP3s folders within Audio
My custom ringtones show up when I'm selecting them in Settings, and RingDroid also shows all of my files (currently placed in Ringtones and Notifications). However, if I go to my GMail app and settings, when I go to select a custom notification ringtone, only the ones that shipped with the Droid 2 show up. I also checked Settings, and no custom notification sounds come up.
I currently have different email & sms notifications sounds but I'd like better one's, preferably something that speaks 'email received', 'text message received', you get the idea? I've had a look on Zedge but the tones there tend to be more suitable for the younger generation. I'd like something that won't embarrass me when it plays.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWith out using an app from Android Market or any kinds of side loaded apps, is there any way to add our own Email and text notification sounds? I have already created a "notification" folder on my phone and tried to load my own sounds but the phone would not see my sounds...
View 9 Replies View RelatedBasically I want to set a different notification sound to each of my different email accounts that I have setup in the mail app (not the gmail one, but the one where you add IMAP accounts) I don't think it's possible since it seems like it should be a function of the mail app and not the system...but there's no place in the mail app to set a sound (that I can find).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy Note 2. I use the Yahoo Email app and want to select a cool ringtone for my email sounds but can't because the app only recognizes only the installed system sounds.
So who knows to get this app to play whatever ringtone you want?
I have only just bought my HTC desire and i am unable to change the notification sounds to anything but the default sounds in the phone. If you go to messages - menu - settings then notification sounds it only lists the ones in the handset. How does one apply a downloaded sound.
View 9 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know where I could download the ringtones and notifications that are pre-installed on the HTC Desire? I have somehow managed to delete them off mine. I honestly don't know exactly how or when it was that I managed to do it, but I assume it must have been during the last couple of days when it was connected to my PC - I must have just deleted a folder by mistake. Schoolboy stuff really! If there is no way of getting the original HTC sounds back, does anyone know of a free/non-subscription service where I could source some alternatives? I just want a standard "ring ring" & "beep" rather than some sort of crazy frog shenanigans.

View 12 Replies View Relatedso I was clearing up some room for a new app and went through managing apps and deleting some and clearing some caches. And now, I can't select any of the normal ringtones on the phone for my notification sounds. When I go Personalize > Default ringtone > select ringtone. It comes up saying 'Phone Ringtone' With options of OK and Cancel. It gives me no choice of any of the old normal tones the phone had before....what the hell is going on. Same for text noises btw.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to set up custom notification sounds for the various apps (email, message, FB, etc.). I would prefer that instead of using the various cute sound effects that come with the phone, I want to have a voice that says, "new email" or "new message" instead of the various beeps and chimes. Ideally, I would like to use the text to speech engine that comes with the phone to do this like what the Navigation app. How can I set up the notifications to activate the text to speech engine to say a certain phrase? If that is not possible, how can I activate the text to speech engine to say a phrase and then save the output to a sound file which I can then select as the notification for those various apps?

I do have an issue with the stock email client/widget. I've got it all set up to pull down any new messages every 10 minutes and I've set up the peak/off-peak times, etc.
What I don't get are any notifications for emails that I receive overnight when the phone is switched off. I can switch it on in the morning and leave it for as long as I want, but still don't see the new emails appear until I start up the email client.
After the client has been run I get email notifications without any problem.
I connect to my own IMAP server and have Google Mail sync disabled.
I was wondering if you can get new notification sounds for the samsung galaxy s as the ones that come with the phone dont go long enough and I miss all my sms's. Ive put new ones on for my ringtone but they dont show up in the notification bar.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhy is it that sometimes when I receive emails I get two notifications for one email? They are different formats of notifications though. Both from Gmail just different looking screens. I usually get the outlined envelope in my notification bar but sometimes will get that and also the solid white envelope. Both are the same email just two different notifications. Doesn't happen all the time. Any ideas?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an app that has two buttons one for email & one for SMS. Depending on the button pressed I want to email or else SMS a certain text. I have coded the email button and it is working fine. The problem is that the dialog box that pops-up gives an option of e-mail or Messaging the text. I want to separate out the two, so that when the user presses email, only the options of email is there, and when the user presses SMS, only the option of Messaging is there.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently using the default 'Droid' sound for my incoming emails and SMS messages. I would prefer to have a different sound for my emails than my SMS messages, but I cannot find anywhere to do this. Under 'settings', 'notification ringtone', Droid is set as the sound.
Is this where the email and SMS incoming notifications are set? And can you use different ringtones for these?
I'm setting up my new desire, and gmail works just fine, but the push email or email notification perhaps rather, is acting kind of irrational.
First when I set it up it would go off at about the same time as my email checker on my computer using imap idle. On the second email arriving though there is no more notification from the desire phone, this may be a feature although a weird one. Now I go into the inbox on the desire and delete the 2 emails in question and exit. The next time an email arrives the phone will react but not nearly as fast, it can be minutes or even more.
