Nov 4, 2010So this is the problem. Wifi works ok on my original 2.1 firmware. But it doesn't work on custom roms. Why is that? How can I fix it?

May 2, 2010I have so far found two bugs in Galaxo 1.6.3:
a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.
b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.
Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!
Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 1.6.3.1 update!
Sprint HTC Hero :: Cdma Custom Roms?
Sep 13, 2010i have searched, for list of decent roms for sprint hero w google cdma, ive found older posts but not very informative, want something to speed it up, function a little better mainly just wanna mess with my phone till i find something better. if there is a list of good ones out at the moment, pics would be helpfull also, and links to were to get them.

Jun 11, 2010I'm running basic Sprint 2.1 rooted. I've removed all the bloatware, and wireless tether is working great. Pretty much everything is working great, actually, aside from the standard dialer and contact lag many people have reported, plus occasional lag in other areas.
So here's my question: Is there a custom ROM out there that solves the lagginess problem while leaving everything else basically functional and intact? I've been reading the threads around all the various ROMs, and while it seems that some offer real advantages in various areas, it also appears that each introduces its own new set of problems and dysfunctions. While I'd love a snappier phone, I don't want a bunch of new bugs, worse battery life, whatever. I mean, based on the threads here, the average custom ROM user's experience would seem to be slightly worse than my experience with the standard Sprint release.

Jul 30, 2010I've got a Sprint Hero with Android 2.1 (.6 and not .5 as required for unrevoked). All I want is root access (no custom roms) for some applications (mainly WiFi tether). I'm a complete noob to rooting and what I gathered from the guides is that all data is erased. Is there any way (regardless of how complicated) such taht I don't lose any data/apps and just gain root access?

Jul 16, 2010I have the HTC Hero on Orange, got the new version of Sync a few weeks back and I just can't get it working, now, when I want it to. The previous version was just as bad, really. It seems to be a running issue with a lot of users, though.Is there an alternative? Is there a way of converting my Outlook contacts that are on the phone into Google contacts so I don't have to deal with Sync at all? What with this, plus the new Sync not working with my Outlook 2003 when I DID have it working plus the phone recently not notifying me of new voicemail over a 2 week period (which cost me a job interview), I'm seriously considering ditching the phone. Too many things keep going wrong!

Can anyone give me a quick source (link would be nice) to either the stock 2.1 pdf viewer, or point me to a good free one in the market? I'm leaving on a trip this afternoon, and will need to be able to read some .pdfs while away.

Jul 27, 2010So PSX4Droid finally got released from the clutches of Google Market about an hour ago. Only problem now is I can't seem to get any roms to work. I set up a PSXROMS folder on my SD card, and my first d/l was Metal Gear Solid disc 1 and 2. I got them from here PSX ISO Download Section. So I downloaded the .rar, unzipped to get the .bin (says it's compatible), open the emulator, the emulator sees the files in the folder, I click it, it refreshes the rom screen. The emulator doesn't start. Am I doing something wrong? Wrong file type?

So i was wondering if there is a good ROM that allows me to have Live Wallpapers while still maintaining Sense UI and 2.1. Oct 3, 2010I put my phone on vibrate and everything seems to be working fine except for some parts..when i get a text my vibrate doesn't work [i'm using chompsms] but when i'm on the phone and i get a text my phone ivbrates or when i set the keyboard to vibrate it doesn't work or i get mail notifications of mail or from fb it doesn't work but other than that all the vibrates seem to be working fine. can anyone help me? i was wondering if i could just press the factory reset on my phone to see if that would work but i'm rooted.. would that effect anything? like if i were to do that, would it brick my phone since its rooted? i was going to unroot it and bring it in to sprint but i heard that there were some issues when people tried flashing back so i don't know if i want to do that..

Obviously BT file transfer doesn't work
I knew that voice dialling isn't support - why on earth not though?
I've just paired it with my BT car stereo, and I have also discovered that it doesn't download the phonebook to the stereo like it did from my TyTN II!
So how am I supposed to dial in the car!? I'm handsfree but to dial I can't voicedial or scroll through the phonebook, so the only option is to hope the number is in my received/missed/dialled calls, or pull over and dial it from my phone manually.
Is there any chance that this will appear in a future update?

When mobile network is off and WiFi is enabled, I cannot retrieve my Yahoo Mail. It has never really bothered me, because when mobile network is connected and WiFi is off, my mail app (which is connected to Yahoo - I don't use Gmail) worked perfectly fine. Does anybody else use Yahoo as their email server and has the same issue? Is it just Google sticking it to their customers and to Yahoo by saying "ok, if you wan't to use our (#1 competitor's) email service, then we will make it so it will only work on Mobile Networks.

Jan 11, 2010I'm having a problem with the clock/weather widget on my Hero. I have it set to Current City and I noticed the other day that the weather wasn't updating. ( I live in Long Beach, CA) It was stuck on one weather. I especially noticed when it still said partly sunny at 11pm. It doesn't work even if i try to manually update.
I thought it was just the current city function that was having trouble registering but when I go to other cities nearby it updates fine. And when I specifically set it to Long Beach, CA, it was still stuck and not updating.
Anyone else having this problem? Is there something wrong with the weather equipment in Long Beach?

So far i am enjoying the updated UI however, i have noticed some changes, for instance, before i could easily assign ringtones to anyone now when i try to assign tones that are saved on my sd card to specific contacts it will not allow me to do so. The phone now only lets me set a default tone which can be any tone (sd card or factory) but all contacts have this tone & i cannot assign specific tones for certain contacts.

Of the apps I've downloaded, only a few of them have worked. Of those few that work, some don't work right. Has anyone had problems with these apps crashing on them, or just not working correctly?
- Nice Battery (see description at bottom of: My Ultimate CLIQ settings (so far))
- WeatherBug (kept showing the wrong location, crashed when trying to change location)
- Snake - doesn't work just says its "paused"
- RingDroid - crashes when I select the "Facebook Pop" button
- Layar - screen is rotated 90 degrees at all times
There have been others, but usually I just uninstall them right after discovering it doesn't work right.
HTC Desire :: Data Doesn't Work On 3g / Calls Don't Work On HSDPA
Jun 14, 2010I've had an HTC Desire on Orange in the UK for about 6 weeks and it is having persistent problem. Firstly despite having a strong 4-bar out of 4 signal, online services and the internet do not work at all when a 3G signal is being received (e.g. news, weather, all widgets, internet, email etc).Calls and texts do work however with a 3G signal.But when a 3g+ signal (HSDPA) is being received, all internet services as above work fine.However, when a 3+ signal is being received, the phone does not make or receive calls or text messages, and often fails to send texts. Calls I make immediately shut down (bleep + �call ended�), and incoming calls from other people go straight to answerphone. Also often when turning the data connection on/off, it freezes and has to be rebooted, and turning airplane setting on and off does not fix the problem.
I have also tried the different network settings (GSM, WCDMA, auto, etc). �GSM� sends and receives calls and texts but doesn�t work (or is incredibly slow) with internet, and �auto� and �WCDMA only� show the problems as above.I don't think this is a network/coverage issues as, as I have seen many people reporting these same issues on other networks and in other parts of the UK, and I have read that other people are having to manually turn off HSDPA to be able to make calls (using an app?). Even if I can stop HSDPA from connecting to make sure the phone works, I still can�t use the internet at all on 3g � even GSM works better!
Finally, when I connect to a bluetooth device (e.g. car and headphones) the phone will connect briefly, and then randomly disconnect. I have also seen this issue reported elsewhere.I very much like the phone and don't want to get rid of it, but these problems are making the phone unuseable.Also I don't know if I should be contacting HTC or Orange about this. Will the upcoming Android 2.2 fix these problems?Anyone know how to fix this or if I need a new handset? Are there any apps that can help? Also does the Nexus One have these problems and are they fixed by Froyo?

I know rooting allows access to things that you normally cannot do such as removing HTC and Sprint apps. Which I would LOVE to do. I mean, who the hell wants the stock widget anyway?
