Is there a way to silence the phone while turning it on? I had accidently turned my phone off and caught it durning a class and not thinking about it turned it back on.

When I turn my phone on, I get a vibration or two, sounds, etc.How do I set my phone to start-up in silence?
No sounds, vibrations, etc.
How can I completely silence everything in the phone? I long press the red end button and from the pop up, I choose silent. That works for phone calls / email notifications / text notifications. However, after I did that, I went to Slacker and it started playing (even though I had the silent icon in the notification area). I had to then press the down volume key to turn off the media volume.Is there a way to make everything silent without downloading a 3rd party app?

Im leaving for costa rica tomorrow and would like to turn off ALL data AND telephone. i dont want any connection at all, but i would still like to use my camera, calendar, notepad, etc. how do i turn off EVERYTHING? But I would still use wifi to browse internet(not data)...is that possible? i know airplane mode will turn everything off; even wifi. so my question is, how do i turn off all data/phone and still use wifi to browse internet?

I tried the lock screen and ended up locking my phone out due to too many tries in my pocket and ending up having to reset my phone to use again. Even with the lock screen on, the menu button still turn the phone on.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI installed Aloysius 2.0.8 rom last night and now all my phone will do is show red, blue , green and yellow colors the boot animation going back and fourth all night it will not let me do anything it seem like it is suck. Is there anything I can do to puy my old system back on the phone? I tried the hold the power button and volume down key but it just does the same thing over and over and I can't do anything with the phone. Is my phone just a brick now or is there a way to make this thing work.

The issue is as I'm using an application other than google maps, the gps receiver continues to search and flash active after exiting the application. The only way that I can seem to get it do deactivate is go into the google maps app and then exit. This happens when I use ANY app that utilizes location aside from google maps.

1. Can someone post a walkthrough to get new ringtones onto the Sprint HTC Hero?
2. Can you get tones through Myxer still with the Hero?
3. Also is there a way to have different notification sounds for txt, emails and voicemails?
Update...figured out a much easier way...after I did some searching and figured out how to add the folders I started using phonezoo and just saving the files on my computer and then transfering that way. Also using Ringdroid works to create some from music already on my hero.
Has anyone found a good website for downloading Notification sounds? I know you can create your own with ringdroid etc...but I am lazy and I just want to DL some to my computer and trasfer them to my phone.

View 22 Replies View RelatedSO i pushed the volume rocker down all the way to silent on the sprint hero for my weekly office meeting, thinking that the phone was completely muted, and then I opened up gang wars on the phone and it started BLARING rap music on full volume through the speakers!!! WHAT IS WITH THIS??? Would the stupid phone know to mute everything? Or did I do somethign wrong and not doing this properly? My old treo had a volume kill switch on the top of the phone and NO sounds would work. Is there any way to quickly MUTE all sounds without having to also go to settings sounds media and scrolling it down to zero?? also, even when i set the media volume down, a lot of times an app causes it to be set to high again. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've never had "bad" battery life but have always felt that the battery does die pretty quick. I'm text up to 100 texts a day tops, pretty heavy internet (checking work emails all day), a few phone calls here and there. Maybe some music here and there, nothing to justify the less than desirable battery life. Spare parts never showed anything out of line either. Rooting was something I had no desire to do (I tried it and found it useless for me). Like a few others, I'm patiently waiting for *whispers* THE UPDATE. Anyways I turned off Sense the other day and DRASTICALLY improved my battery life. Sense ON- wifi off, gps off, location off, mobile internet off. pretty much EVERYTHING off. By 1pm my battery was usually 50-60%. By 10pm my battery was dead. Sense OFF - wifi on and mobile internet on ALL DAY. Now by 5pm my battery is usually around 70%. Running music/HEAVY internet for the rest of the night leaves my battery at 35% by night end.

I will get a triangle in my notification bar, open it and the music player is running and listed as ongoing. There is no stop button, only pause, and apparently backing out of the app does not turn it off. Should I look into a task killer for this?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI've had 4-5 apps so far do this to me, and every once in a while another app does the same - instead of displaying its proper name, like ChompSMS or wpToGo, the name would switch to the Java version, such as com.p1.chompsms or com.roundhill.androidWP.wpAndroid.
The name change occurs globally - in the app list, widget names, even the displayed name when I start the app. The only place where the names stay OK is the Market.
These changes don't happen after an update - just randomly but once they happen, they stay.
Some other apps include VoiceCallerID and Mystique Chapter 1.
WTF is going on with my phone?
Here's an interesting thing that just occurred for me. I used kitchen to push the stock android keyboard to my phone and removed the LWPs so when I went to reboot my phone it locked up at the boot screen where the little android emblem is hanging off the HERO while waving it's hand. I'm running Fresh 2.0d just in case that matters at all.
