Android :: Limewire For G1
Dec 11, 2008I don't have the skills for developing, but here's an interesting idea. How about a program that let's g1 users login and download(FREE) music from other g1 users phones, so in theory, everysong on anyones g1 is accesable in this program and can be downloaded for free straight onto ur sd card, it could have a connection chart IE, wifi,3g,g,edge. I think this would kick ass, and would be totally awesome. What do u think?

Jun 15, 2010I am sure this is old but, I downloaded Handcent at least 10 times already. I like the customization. It's the best SMS Application to me, but I'm not sure if it makes my phone run a bit laggy. I always go back to the stock app even tho its kind of boring, but very fast. I guess the question is, Is Handcent really worth it to you?

May 5, 2010Whenever I put my phone on "silent," its not suppose to make a sound. I have my media volume all the way down. When I get a call, it doesn't ring or vibrate or anything, but when I get a text, it rings. I searched through all the threads about the apps for the volume, but I want to know which one is the best free one. I really don't want a repeat of what happened in my class.

Apr 11, 2010I recently found an app called quick settings which actually has an option for auto sync which is pretty good. But the mobile data option doesn't seem to affect my mobile network toggle. Feb 8, 2010I find my phone overheating. It was at 130 degrees! What was the problem? Well, I forgot to close an application! So if you have the gumbo kernel. Make sure you don't run any applications and leave them open. So if you ever have the same problem, turn off your phone and place it by an open window and let it cool off for a good 5-10 minutes.

May 20, 2010I have a phone that makes calls, I can multitask, and with 2.1 - it works even better now. And the battery life has only improved since I've bought it. It's kind of hard to ignore the fact that the day 2.1 is officially released for the HTC Sprint Hero - is the same day that 2.2 is "unveiled." The one thing I really wanted was the ability to launch apps from my SD card without having to root. I think I'll just root 2.1 once that happens. But do any other Hero owners feel a tad bit messed?

Jul 2, 2010I am trying to go wireless and get rid of my DSL I have tried US Cellular tethered, abysmally slow. I tried Verizon, fast enough, very expensive for what you get. Now I am trying Sprint with a Hero and a Samsung Moment to use as phones etc, plus tether to our laptop and desk top to use as a modem. The Sprint store personnel tell me that it can be done, just not something that Sprint will tell me how to do. One of the young ladies tell me that there is an AP that I can download to do it. She uses her Hero as a modem all the time. What would I need to do?

Nov 6, 2009I have noticed several times that after updating an application in the Market, the app will never work again. This has happened with Pandora, Key Ring Finder, Audio Manager and countless other apps. With some other apps, after updating the application, it will work fine, but the name will change to something odd like com.chompsms.Well, i was reading through Key Ring Finder update and realized that something is occuring specifically with the HTC Hero that is causing this with application updates.But there is a ::drum roll please:: workaround! When updating an app, do not select the 'update' option! This is where the programs become corrupt. Instead, click 'uninstall', then reinstall the application. The freshly installed copy will work perfectly!

Oct 30, 2009Just wanted to report a potential issue with the Sprint HTC Hero. Me and a few friends have experienced an issue where if you:
1) install an application
2) update it or uninstall and reinstall
3) reboot your phone
Then on many applications, the launcher icon will be messed up as well as the name of the application under the icon. In many of these cases, this renders the application unusable including Google Sky and Pandora. If you then uninstall these applications and reinstall them they will work fine until you reboot your phone again. The problem doesn't seem to exist if you install the application the first time. Only does it exist if you update it and reboot or if you uninstall/reinstall and reboot. There is a fairly lengthy thread on the Android Developers mailing list regarding this. Google seems to think it is unique to the Hero itself since a stock Android device (ie: G1) doesn't have this problem. Other developers are experiencing the same thing.

If I try to use it I get a popup that says: Sorry - The application of Camera (process com.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. The button below says 'Force close'. What could I have done? Aug 19, 2010OK I've been running the nightlys and they have been running fine except for the small issue that the native email app included in the ROM(s) never works. I'm trying to use my yahoo email account and when I open the app enter in my email and password I first get a prompt with: "Attention! Mailbox access is not supported for some types of Yahoo! mail accounts etc..."
Then I press OK and then get the initializing screen for "checking incoming server settings" then get a Could not finish prompt error stating that my user name or password is incorrect (which I know is correct and have tried numberous times)
I'm stuck using the lame Yahoo Mail app from the market at the moment, does anyone have a fix for this? Am I the only one experiencing it?
Sprint Hero :: Get Weather App That Works Like OLD HTC Sense Application?
Jul 20, 2010Am looking for a weather app that works like the OLD HTC Sense app.
The new weather app HTC included with v2.1 doesn't allow me to add cities that aren't in its list ... frankly I don't give a crap what the weather in Paris or Dubai is! We used to be able to input additional cities, current locations, etc. and swipe thru the list. If there's a way to add cities I haven't found it yet ... anyone know how?
I've looked at the WeatherBug, Accuweather, Weather Channel, etc., etc. apps and while they're nice they don't allow me to EASILY switch from city to city. So, what I'm looking for is EXACTLY what we had before.... Anyone know where I can find that?
