Sprint HTC Hero :: Need Application For Volume
May 5, 2010
Whenever I put my phone on "silent," its not suppose to make a sound. I have my media volume all the way down. When I get a call, it doesn't ring or vibrate or anything, but when I get a text, it rings. I searched through all the threads about the apps for the volume, but I want to know which one is the best free one. I really don't want a repeat of what happened in my class.

I doubt it but it's worth a shot. Is it possible to have a different volume assigned to each app by use of a setting or app? I like plugging my phone into my car speakers and playing pandora while using gps. The only problem is that the music overpowers the gps voice. It would be nice to be able to lower the pandor app volume and raise the gps voice volume.

I know this will sound like a weird question, but I was wondering if there is any way to reduce the earpiece volume? Even at it?s lowest setting it is a little louder than I prefer. Don?t know if there is an app or anything else that can be done to control the volume beyond what the phone does on it?s own? I know I could try Bluetooth, but that?s not always convenient.

I've had 2.0d on my hero for a couple of weeks now. I'm totally happy with it...
except a few days ago people kept telling me they can't hear me or that im "really faint"..
Anyone experience this? I wanna rule out the ROM before I call sprint or blame hardware...

First post here. I've tried searching for this issue but have come up with nothing, so if it's been posted, please point me in the right direction.I've had my Hero since January (Sprint) and this only came up in the last couple of days. About a week ago (05/28/10) my Hero froze and Sprint issued me a new phone which they updated to 2.1. On Thursday (06/03/10) I noticed the sound when I use my touch screen is much louder than it used to be. I'm almost positive the new phone wasn't quite this loud when I first got it. The sound I'm talking about is not the 'tone' sound as I've disabled that, but the 'ticking' sound when you launch an app or shortcut. Does this make sense? Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Is there a way to make this sound quieter? I'd rather not disable it completely as I like a little bit of feedback that a button has been hit.

Does anyone else find it annoying when your in a meeting or lecture or church and someone tries to turn down the volume on their phone, only to have the phone beep with every change in volume? Is there any way to turn off this volume response when using the volume controls on the side of the Sprint Hero? Likewise, any way to turn off the sound when turning the phone on/off?

I listen to Pandora on the Eris and podcasts on the media player. At full volume with earphones, the volume is still quite low, much lower than what my blackberry puts out, and not very good. Any way to up the volume besides the side volume rocker?

Last night I was bored and browsing through my soundboards looking for a new ringtone. I was opening and closing apps, running task killer, if I thought it necessary. Everything was fine, until all of a sudden my media volume stopped working. On screen, while I'm playing media, I can pull the volume up and down, but no sound comes out. The Alarm volume, and ringer volume continue to work. So this morning I snooped around the forums and decided to reset my phone. All was going well, until I accidentally played some mp3's that were on my SD card. Now the media volume has stopped working again and when I turn on my phone, my music app has attached itself to that screen that you have to pull down to log in.
I didn't request that, and can't find a way to turn that off in the settings. To be honest, I am a new user. I've had my hero for two weeks, and I'd love to know that my problems are user error and not a faulty phone. I've also re-downloaded task killer and am wondering if that was a bad choice. I'm still at the point of just playing with my phone: launching apps, installing, uninstalling, etc, and it seemed like a good idea. In a worst case scenario, I'm thinking of deleting the mp3's and doing another reset. But if I have to keep doing this regularly, the exercise will get a little old.

I just got a Samsung WEP870 bluetooth headset. I really like the headset and its features, however when I have it paired with my Sprint HTC Hero the volume performance isn't very good. I have to turn the volume all the way up on the phone and the headset, and can still barely hear the person I'm talking to. Anyone else having this issue with other headsets? I don't have another headset to compare the Samsung to.

Recently purchased the Virgin Mobile Supreme (Sprint Vital, ZTE N9810). The one thing that is bothering me is that there is only one volume setting for the combined ringtone and notifications. I would like to set these volumes separately.
I tried one volume control tool, but even though it had 'separate' controls changing ringtone changed notification and vice versa.

I noticed that you can't adjust media volume without first playing media. Like you have to, for example, press the play button before pressing rocker volume in order to adjust media volume or else you'll just be adjusting ringer volume. This is unfortunate since games also use media volume. So if you wonna start up a quick game in a quiet setting, your in trouble if you were listening music before and never turned down/off the media volume. Unless I'm missing something and there is in fact a way to do it?

I am sure this is old but, I downloaded Handcent at least 10 times already. I like the customization. It's the best SMS Application to me, but I'm not sure if it makes my phone run a bit laggy. I always go back to the stock app even tho its kind of boring, but very fast. I guess the question is, Is Handcent really worth it to you?

I've been running CM6 for awhile now and I love it. My only problem so far is that I absolutely hate the camera application. I much, much preferred the Sense take on it; so, I'm sitting here, wondering if there's a good camera application to replace the crap stock one.

I recently found an app called quick settings which actually has an option for auto sync which is pretty good. But the mobile data option doesn't seem to affect my mobile network toggle. I am guessing this app was meant for other androids. Is there any other app out there as good as this one dedicated to the sprint HTC Hero?

I find my phone overheating. It was at 130 degrees! What was the problem? Well, I forgot to close an application! So if you have the gumbo kernel. Make sure you don't run any applications and leave them open. So if you ever have the same problem, turn off your phone and place it by an open window and let it cool off for a good 5-10 minutes.

I have a phone that makes calls, I can multitask, and with 2.1 - it works even better now. And the battery life has only improved since I've bought it. It's kind of hard to ignore the fact that the day 2.1 is officially released for the HTC Sprint Hero - is the same day that 2.2 is "unveiled." The one thing I really wanted was the ability to launch apps from my SD card without having to root. I think I'll just root 2.1 once that happens. But do any other Hero owners feel a tad bit messed?
