I'm new & I couldn't find an answer online or here (my luck it would have been the next page) I got my Moment a week ago & I am trying to get used to it. One thing that I cannot figure out, does this thing have some sort of jingle, alert to let you know the call has been dropped? I hate talking to myself when I think my friends are connected.

I dropped my phone yesterday for the second story of my apartment complex. It hit the ground really hard, but landed on it's back. Everything seems to work perfect, except that one of the sliders (top keyboard slider) that connects the keyboard to the screen, bracket came off. A small piece broke off but it still looks like it can go back in the sliding area. Right now the keyboard is only sliding open from the bottom bracket.
I can't seem to figure out how to slide this bracket that's on the keyboard back inside the sliding area on the back of the screen. I have had this phone since it came out and I don't have the protection plan. Not sure if sprint will fix this for me and how much it will cost, or if I can fix it on my own or if I will need to buy a new phone. But this thing isn't going to last much longer with the phone only being held in place and sliding with 1 slider.
Today I dropped my phone from about chest level. And when I picked it up the screen wouldn't turn back on. There are no any cracks on the screen and all of the touch stuff still works, what i mean is when the phone is on i can still unlock and scroll down i can feel it vibrate when I do so. I have tried pulling the battery and restarting and nothing will help. Does anyone else have any idea of whats wrong or how to fix it.?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi dropped my moment in the toilet (yea gross), grabbed the phone a second after and took it apart, etc etc did the rice trick, it shows a screen that says its charging when i plug it in but it still doesnt turn on what color is the battery water indicator supposed to be? i've read that red means it got wet, mine is white, but my friend showed me his battery indicator and it was white with red spots. he said that's what it's supposed to look like on a working battery (his isn't an android phone though) ps. dont worry i had already flushed when i dropped it
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing an odd quirk where my outgoing calls will often drop when I put the phone to my ear to talk or listen. Oddly, they don't seem to drop when I keep it on speakerphone and this doesn't seem to be an issue at all with incoming calls.Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?Also, I've found this doesn't seem to happen when I use the menu and go to a different screen while the call is connected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't think I've seen this addressed elsewhere, but I could have missed it, and I apologize if I did. My phone is stock, has an 8 GB SD card installed, and very few apps beyond those installed by Verizon. I can include a list if requested. The phone works fine and all the apps I use regularly work fine. The only exception I have is that occasionally I will be talking to someone and I hear a descending 4 tone deet- da-la-deet.. and my call is gone, my screen is black and I can't get it to respond. If I slide out the keyboard, the buttons light up, but nothing else happens. I have to pull the battery to get it to work again. I can confirm I have the 50% bug and have tried all the suggestions which don't seem to do much. Also, someone else mentioned the problem of when I place a call, the screen goes blank and does not wake back up unless I slide out the keyboard. I have firmware version 2.1-update1, Kernel version 2.6.29 lge@android-build #2, Build number ERE27 and SW Version VS740ZVB. Does anyone know how to fix this bug short of taking it back to Verizon or living with it? Would any of the custom ROMs you have on here help? I have absolutely no clue about rooting and updating the ROM and don't want to complicate things further if it's not going to resolve anything.

was on a call and it dropped (cut off) 3 times in 10 mins and the ear felt a slight piercing pain and the phone is getting warm. Is not a good sign.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI made a phone call, got voice mail, and tried to hang up. Before I could hang up, the person called me back, so I talked to that person. After the person hung up, I saw that the first call I made was on "hold", so I switched to it, and tried to hang up. But the phone would not hang up. Noting I did would end the phone call. I could use the dial pad, I could go to the home screen, but the phone call would not end. I held the "end" button down and nothing happened, and I couldn't get out of the phone call. So I finally popped the battery cover, and pulled the battery to reset the phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my Samsung Moment, a lot of times when someone is calling me, the phone will start vibrating or ringing as it should but the screen does not turn on showing the caller id until 4 or 5 rings, if at all. It makes answering calls before it goes to voicemail difficult.
Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

Actually its with my wife's phone, we both have Moments, mine works great but hers frequently (not all the time) doesn't shut off during phone calls. At first I thought she was just holding it strange but I have seen it for myself and its quite frustrating. The biggest issue is that its an intermittent problem so of course it never happens when at the Sprint store asking about replacing the phone. I did the recent update to the phone and it still does it. Any way to fix this short of getting a new one?

People I call are telling me that they hear a phone number being dialed loudly while I speak to them, as if I am making a call while speaking to them. View 7 Replies View RelatedI've already done the update but both pre and post update, my Moment intermittently won't respond when getting a call. The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
Should I be worried about getting a lemon phone?
Dunno if this has been covered and maybe this is a stupid question. I have not had the phone long enough to have much call waiting experiences but the times I did, I noticed I had to press menu and then go thru a menu to "click over" to the other call. This is g=fine and dandy from the comfort of your couch but is not advisable if you are driving a car. Is there a one button shortcut to go to the other call without having to look at a menu?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThat isn't the worst part of it. I dropped the phone battery and the cover came off and the micro sd latch broke off it. It just like popped off after it dropped in target like a week ago so now I can't use a ringtone nor take pictures or download music straight to my phone so is there any way to get the micro sd working again? Because I can't exactly replace this phone being that I had won this when that giveaway was going on back last year in december.

I'm currently trying to decide whether I want to pay the $162 to get it fixed or sell it for parts on ebay. Thing is, Samsung claims they've only had to replace the glass on 3 captivates so far, and I cannot find a single screen-damaged Captivate on ebay past or present. Did I just have really really bad luck with my drop? I find it hard to believe that so few are getting broken. If I do fix and keep my Captivate I want to get a really protective case for it.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI found this information over at XDA and thought I would post it for my fellow Moment users. This is going to tell you how to change your notification bar. Credit go to WebghostDK for posting this. Read it here and other info.
WARNING: This does not change the text color or clock color. If you use a black bar you will not be able to see the clock or date in the bar.
In order to change your status bar color along with the Background color, do this:
First we need the framework-res.apk from the phone
- adb remount
- adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk framework-res.apk
Take a backup of this file in case you failed and wants to go back.
Rename your local framework-res.apk to: framework-res.apk.zip
Open the Zip file and go here:
/res/drawable/
Locate these files and unzip them:
statusbar_background.png
status_bar_background.png
status_bar_close_on.9.png
status_bar_header_background.9.png
status_bar_item_background_normal.9.png
These are the files you want.
I sugest that you use Photoshop to do what you want with the colors, if you are using Photoshop, be carefull editing status_bar_close_on.0.png, it might look weird if you are doing it wrong.
After your done editing these pictures go here:
/res/drawable_land/
Locate and unzip:
statusbar_background.png
Do the same here as you done with the first pictures.
After you are done editing the png's, save them in your zip file.
Rename framework-res.apk.zip to framework-res.apk.
- adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
Now restart your phone, and your Notification bar has been fixed.
I've been following this forum since I got my moment a couple months ago, and I wanted to thank all the posters for the help you've given. I just installed beautiful widgets and I have a nice clock now, but I'm wondering if there's any way to hide the notification bar. I saw in the thread where everyone posted their screens that many of them didn't have the notification bar.
View 6 Replies View RelatedDecided to call and register a couple of my phone's common issues with Samsung. The tech support person was actually very knowledgeable and helpful. She and her husband both have Moments so she said she had a particular interest in getting some of the issues resolved. She didn't try any fixes but said with the recent influx of calls concerning Battery Meter/Life issues, a fix could be coming out before a software update.
She did say she knew for sure 2.0 or probably 2.1 was coming and she didn't know when. She said "trust me, I am as interested in this upgrade as you and check whenever I can" All she could confirm was that the upgrade is in the works, prolly be 2.1, and they feel many of the issues we have today will improve with the Android upgrade.
Are there any good call blocker apps?
I recently switched my phone number, and apparently the person who had it before was delinquent on multiple loans, credit cards, etc. so I keep getting unwanted calls.
it's just a pain to have to answer them, wait 5 minutes to get a hold of someone and spend another 10 minutes trying to convince them that my number is not who they are tyring to reach.
i cant figure how to put assign custom notification ringtones on my samsung moment. i have the ringtones in a folder on the sd card and i was able to play them thru the music app and assign the one i wanted for the ringer but i cant get the one i want for sms to work. i have had my moment for less then 2 days (and charged it six times) and i tried searching but came up with nothing.
