I am writing an app that is meant to be run during a call. After the user makes a call, and starts my app, I want my app to be able to know if the call is dropped from bad connection.

But how to detect call pick up the call or refuses to answer?
I tried PhoneStateListener but not working.
I don't think I've seen this addressed elsewhere, but I could have missed it, and I apologize if I did. My phone is stock, has an 8 GB SD card installed, and very few apps beyond those installed by Verizon. I can include a list if requested. The phone works fine and all the apps I use regularly work fine. The only exception I have is that occasionally I will be talking to someone and I hear a descending 4 tone deet- da-la-deet.. and my call is gone, my screen is black and I can't get it to respond. If I slide out the keyboard, the buttons light up, but nothing else happens. I have to pull the battery to get it to work again. I can confirm I have the 50% bug and have tried all the suggestions which don't seem to do much. Also, someone else mentioned the problem of when I place a call, the screen goes blank and does not wake back up unless I slide out the keyboard. I have firmware version 2.1-update1, Kernel version 2.6.29 lge@android-build #2, Build number ERE27 and SW Version VS740ZVB. Does anyone know how to fix this bug short of taking it back to Verizon or living with it? Would any of the custom ROMs you have on here help? I have absolutely no clue about rooting and updating the ROM and don't want to complicate things further if it's not going to resolve anything.

One thing that I cannot figure out, does this thing have some sort of jingle, alert to let you know the call has been dropped? I hate talking to myself when I think my friends are connected.

was on a call and it dropped (cut off) 3 times in 10 mins and the ear felt a slight piercing pain and the phone is getting warm. Is not a good sign.

Currently I've taken the following approach (unfortunately - it does not work): 1) register PhoneStateListener to detect when a call is started/ finished 2) when call is started then I start a thread that periodically calls audioManager.isMicrophoneMute() method to discover a microphone status. (audioManager is obtained by calling getSystemService (AUDIO_SERVICE) ) 3) when call is finished I stop a thread started in bullet 2
Unfortunately audioManager.isMicrophoneMute() always returns 'true', does not matter if I select or deselect the 'Mute' option in the menu during a call. Does anybody know if it is possible to detect the state of a microphone during a call?
I have seen, using search, that this question has been asked already in this forum, without answer. To ask again: How can I detect when outgoing call has been accepted ?I can detect when outgoing call has been started using BroadcastReceiver. I can detect when call has ended using PhoneStatusListener. But there is nothing more except this two notifications.Internal phone application detects this event, my HTC magic (running standard cupcake) vibrates shortly when other party accepts call.So is it possible to detect this event in 'cupcake' or 'donut'. If not where can I post feature request to android OS developers to include this notification in next API revision.

View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I dropped my HTC Hero on the ground from less than a foot above and when it dropped it turned off so I went to turn it back on and after multiple tries finally got it to the hold screen. When I went to pull down the hold screen to go to the home screen it went to the screen when you're turning it on that says "hTc". I immediately hit end and it goes back to the hold screen then when I pull it down it again it says that some of the applications, which I assume by their name is part of the phone processing, isn't working so I have to force it close. The weird thing is I still get my emails and texts and when a phone call comes in it says the Android application isn't working. Anybody know what is going on here?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
I have dropped this phone before (clumsy me) and it cracked the screen but the phone itself continued to work completely fine for an entire year. Yesterday, It fell out of my hand again and fell screen down on the floor of my bedroom. The screen wont turn on now. Oddly, they don't seem to drop when I keep it on speakerphone and this doesn't seem to be an issue at all with incoming calls.Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?Also, I've found this doesn't seem to happen when I use the menu and go to a different screen while the call is connected.

It landed on the volume down button and now gives an error when she restarted it about no Sim Recovery or something like that. I haven't seen it yet as I won't see her again til the weekend. Is their anything she can do to fix the issue. I had her remove the battery and while the cover was off she was able to get the volume down button unpressed and working again.
When placing the battery back in the phone will no longer power on. Is recovery loaded by the volume down and power button? I thought I read somewhere the Home key was also needed to boot into recovery on the phone. Can I download any stock back up to place on her SIM card if infact this is the issue? Thanks for the help. I have a moment and I know it in an out but the hero is new to me still. I am gonna have her take it to sprint if we can't figure this out if I must but I hate dealing with the local repair center.
I dropped my phone in the toilet and it was completely water damaged. Its working fine now only problem is the camera is not working now. It keeps forcing close.....

Not really worried, but I am just curious how bad you have dropped your Hero at one time or another? Also, what kind of testing do these phones go through? Are they designed to take a bit of a drop? As I am on call for my job I need it on overnight as well. I always plug it into the HTC charger at bed time, but this morning I noticed something odd. When I woke up (still plugged in) the battery was showing 100%. As soon as I unplugged the charger, it dropped to 90%. I've seen a similar question on the forums but the circumstances were slightly different - anyone have any thoughts, duff battery maybe?

I remembered that I had a couple of small drops before, the kind of drop that would not have made any previous phone I've had even skip a beat. So I did a test and dropped it on purpose.
3cm drop.
Phone dropped completely flat on it's back so it landed flat.
Phone in silicone/gel tight fitting case.
Glass table.
Screen on when dropped.
Result? Phone instantly off on impact. To me, I find this way too delicate in comparison to phones I've owned. Now, this is my first big screen smartphone, but not my first smartphone. My last was the Nokia E71 which was very very well built. Evidently, it was even better built than I thought.
Am I being harsh/naive and this is normal, or do I have a delicate unit?
Dropped my phone from about 6 feet today. And it was absolutely fine. It landed right on a tile floor too. I have a Verizon silicon-gloss case and a Zagg screen protector. Wrap your phone up and it should be fine, mine survived a pretty damn bad fall if you ask me.

A few calls are going through but almost ALL are being disconnected back to the previous/home screen after one or two rings -- INCLUDING, now, *611 and *228. Called tech services this morning and am now on hold (15 min. so far!), from a land line. Texts from my family have not shown up, since yesterday and this morning. Did a soft reset this morning.
