Does anyone have any way to turn off the annoying beep the phone makes when it loses it's signal? I know changing the notification volume works, but that will also turn off my system and text notifications. Is there any way to target just the signal beep?

Is there any way to turn off the searching for signal tones? I get the little "bong bongs" whenever I'm in a subway. The tone plays through the main speaker even when using a headset.

My signal strength fluctuates wildly just sitting in the same spot. With the Hero I got a constant 5 of 6 bars, but the Moment will vary between 0 and 5 of 6 bars. But it's more complicated than that.
It seems that whenever the EVDO data kicks in, it causes the signal strength to drop to 0 or 1 bar. Once the data is idle, the EVDO indicator turns grey and then changes from EV(^v) to EV(D). At that point the single strength will return to 3 or 4 bars.
At times, though not as consistently or often, the EVDO connection will fall back to 1xRTT and will switch between them every few minutes. This will occur even when the signal strength bars are in the 3 to 4 range.
So, the my questions are...
Does the signal strength apply to the data signal or just the voice signal?
Is there any legitimate reason for the signal strength to vary wildly like I've described, even when sitting in the same recliner where the Hero had a constant 5 bar connection and data service that never wavered?
Is anyone else having signal strength and/or data service issues?
Should I exchange the Moment for another Moment or will I likely experience the same issue?
Flashed DD03 and rooted. Even though I have SD Card notifications unchecked, I still get the annoying sound when plugging in to USB port, charging, etc.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis phone has to be one of the worst at signal iv had. My wifes TP2 which was mine i thought was bad but this is horrible. I get 0 to 1 bar on my moment and she get 1-2 bars. A few times it is searching for service and this is all at my home which sucks cause i cant make calls or talk on the phone long before it drops. Is there anything out there to help improve this that isnt to costly? I know Sr print has the air wave thing but that is a monthly fee. I'm not gonna pay to improve my signal every month on top of my service already. What im looking for is maybe an antenna that i could stick somewhere to help boost it enough to keep me from searching for service.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI mostly use wifi at home and office so I usually turn the 3G off using APNdroid and Smartbar. When I needed to use 3G on the street, I used APNdroid and Smartbar too. But there is just a grey 3G signal on the notification bar. I have to turn the phone off and turn it on to have 3G signal.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am on 2.1 and couldn't get a god damn GPS signal yesterday while driving. Is this THAT much of a problem? I am about to throw this POS out of the window. It took me 2.5 hours to get somewhere yesterday which should have been a fucking hour. What, if anything, will Sprint do? I have had this since Nov last year and I want to get rid of it.
Also, this morning, no GPS on or anything and was on charge all night, the battery went to 50 percent according to the battery widget in an HOUR.
Also, widgets being moved from 1 home screen to another while it's being used and without MY interaction.
I have a sprint powered samsung moment i never used a custom rom i just have the 2.1 eclair update and i had the phone for a while no problems. But yesterday i dropped it at the bar i picked it up and nothing was wrong it didnt even get scratched. later that night it needed to be recharged and died on my but when i hooked my charger up the batttery didnt display on the screen so i tryed a difrent charger same thing i still let it charge all night but it wont start up. i want to try manuelly restart it but how? and ideas guys? thanks, Jeff
View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving a strange issue that after searching for a few days I dont see anyone else having it.Every once in a while the 3 led's will not turn off. The home, menu and back lights. Then when the phone tries to go to sleep it automatically wakes back up and gets stuck in a sleep/wakeup loop. Sometimes unlocking it and hitting menu twice resolves it but other times I have to restart the phone. Im thinking either pandahome or handcent are causing it but Ive got a few friends running the same phone and those apps that arent having issues. If anyone else is having this happen please let me know.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIt wasn't long so I never paid attention before, but since the upgrade to 2.1 it takes my Moment around 2mins and 50secs to turn on (from black samsung logo to home screen) and about 50 secs before gps and everything is loaded up and ready to use. I timed it to find out if this was normal.
How long does it take your Moment to power on and load up?
I dropped my phone in water n everything works except the trackpad acts up and tries to pull the camera up allt the time. Can I turn it off or turn off the hotkeyfor the trackpad?

The phone worked great all afternoon after I got it but 30 minutes ago I pulled it out to enter something into my calendar and it was off. I tried to turn it on but it seems dead.The battery has at least 40% remaining last time I looked and it is charging right now just in case. Anybody else have this happen? Is there some special way to turn this on that I don't know about? I held down the hang up button to turn it on and it is not working.Any ideas? (The Sprint rep at the store where I swapped with the other person said the warranty sticks to where ever the ESID is active - meaning on my account so I do have the warranty for it).

I was recently on an airplane that had WiFi wireless connectivity (Delta using GoGo). I had my Moment and wanted to try it out. The problem is that the only way I could find to turn off the cell radio, as required by the FAA, is by putting the phone into "Airplane Mode". But, in Airplane mode, I could not get the WiFi to turn on.
So, what I really wanted was not "Airplane mode" but WiFi on and Cell Radio turned off. But I could not figure out any way to do that. Is it possible?
So I took my phone to the local store today to be updated and they failed. They bricked my phone plus apparently 2 others before they gave up. They gave me a new moment plus a $50 credit, but I have a question about this new phone. When waking my old phone, I only had to press menu to unlock it. This new phone has an iPhone style "slide to unlock" feature that I don't like. This is the way the phone came. Before I even set it up, so its not an app. Does anyone have any idea how to turn it off? I know the old screen is still there because if the slide screen lags at all before taking me to my home screen I briefly see it. Is this a function of the newer moments?

I've tried restarting the phone which helps but eventually it starts acting up again. As i type this, I haven't touched the phone in about 3 mins and the screen is still on. Any help? Any suggestions on how to fix this? Hard reset? I took the battery out and turned the phone back on. Now I have a black screen with an icon of a phone...triangular, yellow error symbol...image of a computer. I took the battery out, held the down volume button, camera button, and power button. Now I'm back to the "DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET" screen.

I live in an area with poor cell service (I knew this and I hate talking on my phone) and just want the noise shut off. I don't need a stupid beep to tell me that it's outta service. It's driving me nuts.
Is there a better way to get notified of emails and messages than the ringtone notifications ? or manually checking? I guess the moment dosent have a Led light to notify you of messages or email and i have missed email and messages since. maybe a 3rd party app that you guys have tried?

There are no any cracks on the screen and all of the touch stuff still works, what i mean is when the phone is on i can still unlock and scroll down i can feel it vibrate when I do so. I have tried pulling the battery and restarting and nothing will help. Does anyone else have any idea of whats wrong or how to fix it.?

WARNING: This does not change the text color or clock color. If you use a black bar you will not be able to see the clock or date in the bar.
In order to change your status bar color along with the Background color, do this:
First we need the framework-res.apk from the phone
- adb remount
- adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk framework-res.apk
Take a backup of this file in case you failed and wants to go back.
Rename your local framework-res.apk to: framework-res.apk.zip
Open the Zip file and go here:
/res/drawable/
Locate these files and unzip them:
statusbar_background.png
status_bar_background.png
status_bar_close_on.9.png
status_bar_header_background.9.png
status_bar_item_background_normal.9.png
These are the files you want.
I sugest that you use Photoshop to do what you want with the colors, if you are using Photoshop, be carefull editing status_bar_close_on.0.png, it might look weird if you are doing it wrong.
After your done editing these pictures go here:
/res/drawable_land/
Locate and unzip:
statusbar_background.png
Do the same here as you done with the first pictures.
After you are done editing the png's, save them in your zip file.
Rename framework-res.apk.zip to framework-res.apk.
- adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
Now restart your phone, and your Notification bar has been fixed.
I've been following this forum since I got my moment a couple months ago, and I wanted to thank all the posters for the help you've given. I just installed beautiful widgets and I have a nice clock now, but I'm wondering if there's any way to hide the notification bar. I saw in the thread where everyone posted their screens that many of them didn't have the notification bar.

From what I can tell, if you turn on WiFi the phone never sleeps even in standby mode. Is this a known issue or has anyone else noticed this. I noticed this using Spare Parts and turning off and on things until I saw it was wifi that keeps it awake.
