I can't seem to find in the settings anywhere how to do this: I want to keep the display on whenever I am plugged in and getting power via USB on the Galaxy S. It is especially important since I have to type in a password each time to access the screen due to my work email security requirements (it's almost not worth it).

The display area of my SGS has been reduced there is now a black line (approximatively 1 millimeter thick) around the display now anything that should be displayed has been centered (a kind of)i have noticed that after press-holding the HOME BUTTON (to get to the task manager).even when the phone that black border is still there and it look like the screen has been pushed down the display is not now at the same level as the top-cover (or screen cover).I have used the factory reset but nothing has changed.My phone look horrible now.

It almost looks like the contrast is set too high or something. It's very strange. Does anyone know if this can be fixed on the phone or if we need to bring it back to the Verizon store.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a black background, I keep the display settings at the lowest brightness settings, and I keep the screen off when I'm not using it, but my phone is dying after 8-10 hours if I don't use it very much and 4-5 hours if I use it regularly. Every time it indicates that it needs to be recharged, 65-80% of the power is going to the display. I...don't see how that can be.I'm using a Samsung Vibrant that I bought on July 30th.

They look like black sheets of paper with the corner folded over and they have ticks in the middle of them. On the far left of them is a box with a '7' in it. View 4 Replies View Relatedi cracked my Samsung Galaxy s3 screen and the screen was on working fine but i bought a kit to replace the screen and now i get no display on my samsung galaxy s3 i can charge my phone and Green led pops up i can also hear the volume as i turn it up and i can connect to computer as well but i cant see no display? Also phone was rooted to jellybean 4.3 if that makes a difference.

I don't know what's wrong with my phone, but the screen display is messed up. Sometimes, the screen will display if I keep clicking the power button one-hundred times, but other than that it won't budge. Everything thing else works when I press the power button, the keyboard lights up, the home button and other buttons light, just not the screen. Like I said, I have to repeatedly press the power button so that in a slight chance, the screen might display.

I have done some form of reset by dialing *2767*3855# but I have not been able to do the factory reset by pressing the power button while holding the volume down button. Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.

Also when I check what has been using the battery there are not as many apps displayed, typically just 'Display' and 'Cell Standby' even though I have used the web browser, wifi and Angry Birds.
Maybe the battery needs recalibrating with the new firmware?
I bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy S on 8th October 2010 in Bangalore, India. two weeks later my screen developed a bright white line on the bottom. ( see pic attached ) I have not dropped or mishandled the phone in any way. I took it to the nearest samsung service centre... they told me that the display needs to be replaced ... They say that the phone display is out of stock and they dont know by when it will be available.
I feel really cheated ... after purchasing such an expensive phone one never expects it to malfunction in less than 2 weeks. And samsungs customer care reps very conveniently replied that they dont know when it will be in stock and to keep in touch via calls. So much for buying an amazing phone.
I'm trying to get Facebook profile pictures assigned to internal phone contacts, but cant get it to work. I installed the recently updated Facebook app, at the first launch it asked me if I want to sync my contacts, I selected Sync with exisiting contacts (later I selected Sync all since first option didnt work) but still profile pictures are not being fetched. I can now see facebook contacts in my main contact list, and I can link them with my phone contacts (manually), but profile picture is still blank. When I click the View profile (facebook) link of a particular contact I'm taken to my profile page instead of the person i clicked on. And when I select Edit and go to Facebook tab there is an error with an exclamation mark with the message "Unable to edit SNS contacts on phone".
View 3 Replies View RelatedNoticed yesterday that on the homescreen when the phone was locked that a missed call and voicemail notification appeared as pieces removed from a jigsaw overlay of the background homescreen image. Hadn't seen that before. Is that a default thing or can I change it (did look rather cool though). I usually use the pattern lock rather than the default swipe lock, so I'm wondering if it's to do with that default setting.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just switched from WebOS so I'm quite a noob to Android. Anyways, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.4.
Now to my issue: I like to watch video streams. The problem is, that the display will turn automatically off.
Solutions:
1. Play a stream with a video player - how can I do this?
2. Change settings so the display will not switch off on a stream, but will turn off when idle - is this even possible?
3. Turn off "turn off display when idle" setting - but I don't like this one.
For some reason my plug stopped working, ive only had my galaxy s4 active is only 2 weeks old. it only charges when plugged into my laptop or xbox, but when i plug it in the manufactured plug and usb cord the phone will not charge while on. when off, the phone just vibrates every 3 seconds. and will not charge.
it used to charge on the plug when i would have it already plugged into my computer for a little bit. but now it doest work anymore..
Does anybody know how to turn off reject call with message from phone call display?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI didn't worry about it till today. but i was useing my phone while it was charging. but it got pretty hot today. enough for me to go download a app to see the temp of the battery. it said like 108? and right before i took at battery 118? idk if its right but it was pretty hot. and i am sure its not good if its getting that hot. i was listening music through blue-tooth, on the internet with wifi and thats it really. i put it in the fridge for 5 mins hope that wont hurt it but i need help and what should i do to stop this? please let me know. im using the charger that came with it. it was got warm when i charge before but i dont think this much.

How do I get the screen on my Captivate to turn off (and stay off) while I have it plugged in? As it stands, my screen dims, but does not turn off. If I hit the power button, it will turn off, but as soon as I get a notification it will turn back on and stay on. I have the screen settings set to turn my screen off after being idle for 30 seconds. This works, but only when it is not plugged in.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my phone plugged in and it will pop up all of a sudden with fully charged, so I unplug it. then, a minute later, it all of a sudden says 50 percent battery. so I plugged it back in. and a minute later it says 100 percent again. then, when I unplugged it, it said 48 percent charged. why is this happeniing? any fixes? this is, by the way, my second phone- the first was classified doa, and replaced. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy hero use to be able to use regular headphones and use the mic from the phone but my moment does not. I lost my headset and plugged in these expensive headphones with no mic and the mic on the moment does not activate. It thinks that I'm using a full headset with a headphone and mic on the hero when I plugged in a headset it showed up an icon with headphones and mic, but when I plugged in regular headphones, it didn't show the mic and allowed me to use the hero's mic. Is this a Sense UI thing? Will it be fixed with the 2.1 update? Does the nexus one use the phones mic when u plug in regular headphones?
