Hello everyone this is my first thread, glad to be a part of this community. I am contemplating getting a Fascinate. Now I was wondering if it is possible to get stock Android on it because I can't stand all the extra stuff carriers bloat the phones with like custom UIs and Bing in this case. If it is possible to get stock Android on a Fascinate what is the procedure for that? If you now of some good tutorials I would appreciate you linking them.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using google apps email for several of my websites. the settings are the same as gmail. I am using IMAP.
I setup my @gmail account and one of my @myprivatedomain.com emails in the gmail app and regular email app on my phone. I like using the gmail app as my email app since it auto syncs and you dont have to open and wait for sync like you do w/ the regular email app.Now I can't setup my @myprivatedomain.com emails in the gmail app. I don't understand on the Adroid phones why email setup is so hard. I had one hell of a time on the X and Inc setting up email. Very buggy and intermittent does anyone know what "your phone may not be provisioned for data services" means?
I'm new to this rooting phone thing, but i was able to root and custom rom my phone. I got the velocity rom running and its great but i miss some of the old LG apps, like the digital alarm clock and the rings that came with it. I tried the appbrain app and i get errors or freezes when i try to look at the LG apps, so what do i do? Can someone give me a hint or a thread i can read?

So, i was looking for Firmware for Returning to Stock. and i found one, and used Odin3 to force update with the firmware, then i turned on my phone... and the screen said AT&T WORLD i accidental downloaded AT&T Galaxy S Captivates firmware... and now i cant go to 'Reset Factory Mode' or 'Downloading Mode'. can anyone help me? if i just can go to downloading mode, i can fix this. is there anyway to auto-goto downloading mode when you insert USB? like un-screwing the phone and doing something? i can take any-risk to fix this.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt seems that rooting the Fascinate and fixing the Google Search issue on the soft key and removing some bloatware is pretty easy, and I'm actually contemplating it once I get a Fascinate. Here are my questions: If I root the phone, I would not get OTA updates, when 2.2 came out? I would have to remove the root in order to get that OTA update to 2.2? To remove the root, I would enter the following into a command prompt on the phone or on my PC?
How To Remove Root
adb shell
su (its going to ask you for permission on your phone so hit allow)
rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
rm /system/xbin/busybox
rm /system/xbin/su
exit
Once I removed the root, the OTA update would just come up? Is there a difference between unrooting and returning my phone to stock? How to go back To stock - Android Forums.
i cleared this on reinstalling the superclean rom and it deleted all my contacts along with cwm, root explorer, etc.. unfortunately i have to sign back into my gmail to download all these from the anrdroid marketplace but i forgot the password since i just created the account last week and never used it other than on my phone... sooo i want to install the backup i made but i don't have cwm or rom manager.. can i use odin to install my backup and how if it's possible?
View 18 Replies View RelatedThe latest Swype Beta version is 2.4.44.10912.t100, however my Fascinate shipped with 1.63.39.8794. Can I install the Swype beta alongside this pre-installed one or is it going to seriously mess something up?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I'm missing something stupid. I've turned off notifications in the stock Messaging app (I'm pretty sure). And those look different (they have the green text bubble as the icon). Can anyone clue me in as to what that 2nd notification is below the blue Handcent icon? And can I get rid of it? I'd like to keep the text messages private is why I ask - I have Handcent and the stock Messages under App Protector. And I have Handcent's option checked to not show messages in the bar, just the notification.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to just install stock Android 2.2 on the Captivate or any phone for that matter. Like if you do not want touchwiz or At&t bloatware. If so, will you be able to update it continually over the air, or to get the newest release must you plug it into your computer each time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if app updates only show up once you've been in the "Market" or will the notification come up if you haven't opened the market for quite some time?I'm thinking the only time I've received a notification is when I'm in the Market. Is that the case?Other times, I do not get notification, then I'm in Market and I choose "downloads" from the menu and it tells me some of my apps have updates available on my list of downloads. Still no notification.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently traded my droid x for a samsung fascinate. I realized while browsing through that it has been rooted. Some of the files have been hidden or frozen. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find some tv apps that work with the samsung fascinate. Most in the market will not download on my wifes phone. Have not tried with mine but I assume it would be same results.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere is a list of confirmed working root apps...
1. Wireless Tether - Use the Incredible version (Downloads - android-wifi-tether) I have confirmed this working as well as a friend of mine.
2. Root Explorer - The ultimate file manager for root users. Access the whole of android's file system (including the elusive data folder!).
3. Shootme - Allows you to take screenshots of your device. Just fire up ShootMe and give a good sustained shake or shout to take a screenshot. If present, the light sensor can be used as well.
4. Titanium Backup - Extremely powerful backup tool for rooted Android phones ! * Backup/restore regular apps + their settings * Backup/restore protected apps + their settings * Backup/restore system settings (incl. Wi-Fi AP list) * Restores the Market links when restoring apps * Zero-click background batch backup * Many batch scenarios (eg: if more than N days since last backup, etc) * Zero-click app un-installer * Zero-click system app un-installer
5. One Click Lag Fix (working with superuser permissions)
6. adbWireless - Enable ADB wireless connection to connect to the phone as if connected by USB
7. Adfree - Removes most ads in the browser and other apps. It does this by nullifying requests to known hostnames serving ads.
8. Autokiller - an award winning minfree tweaker, it fine tunes android's inner memory manager to keep your device fast and lowers battery consumption. Users are reporting that the "Optimum" preset is stable and helps with performance/battery life.
I s there a way to save sms, mms, apps,or any other info to sd card on a Fascinate for future reference in case phone gets wiped
