I have my work email account (Outlook) on my phone and some of the meetings on the email calendar are syncing to the stock app calendar on phone. I have all the setting to where it should sync on phone.

I'm currently running Agenda Widget on my Fascinate to have some calendar functionality since I'm using LP. Is there anyway to get the stock calendar app on LP?

Now I was wondering if it is possible to get stock Android on it because I can't stand all the extra stuff carriers bloat the phones with like custom UIs and Bing in this case. If it is possible to get stock Android on a Fascinate what is the procedure for that? If you now of some good tutorials I would appreciate you linking them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI played with the Fascinate today for more than an hour at VZW. I LOVE IT. My only question is related to the calendar. On my D1 I have many more widget choices including the calendar. This widget displays on my home screen and always shows my next appointment whether it is today or in a week. The next calender entry always shows. This is not the case for the Fascinate. It has a nice widget that shows weather, stocks, and at the bottom appointments. It only shows today's appointments. I downloaded a calender widget app that was nice and may work but it would not open so I don't know.
Now the question: Can any of you guys with the fascinate comment on a widget that allows the widget to display the next entry on the calendar. To be clear on my D1, if I have no calendar entries for today, my 10am meeting tomorrow shows up on the widget with a time and date. Can one do this with the Fascinate.
events created on phone won't go to google calendar. I believe I have the sync set up right, events on my google calendar have synced to my phone. A previous thread states you have to choose "google calendar" when generating an event on the calendar on the phone, however, when I try to edit the event, under "Calendar" the setting is "My calendar" but I can't change the setting (tapping on it does nothing)
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I was looking through all the calendar widget threads and everyone was saying that the samsung one sucks. But I was looking through my phone and I don't even have an option for a calendar in the android widget menu or the samsung widget menu. Unless you count the calendar clock?
But even on the little icon where it says Samsung widgets, there is a picture of a calendar widget but I don't have it!
Soo anyways question is..Is this just my phone? Or am I just dumb and there isn't one?
Since the Samsung calendar widget blows (for example my husband had drill this weekend which in my Google calendar as all day Sept 11 & 12; however, it shows that it's an event today as well from 3:00-4:00) I need a new one. I've seen Jorte talked about but I dl'd that and it showed his drill as being only on the 11th (which obviously I know if it's one day of the weekend, it's going to be the other as well, but I'm just worried about it messing up future appointments). So what's everyone else using? Doesn't have to be a free option.
View 12 Replies View RelatedParts of the calendar won't sync. My Trip It agenda or US holidays won't sync. All other Gcal appointments sync and are listed on the phone as expected. I have all agenda items listed on my Gcal and checked all proper boxes on phone settings. I even contacted Blik app developer who confirmed what to do in the settings. It seems this is an SF issue. For travel, Trip It which sends all of my confirmations, flights, rentals, etc. to my calender all of which shows up on Gcal but not on the phone even though the Trip it calendar is checked on the phone settings. Whilst I am new to the SF, I have been an Android user for over a year and none of these issues were present on my D1. Any tips unique to the SF that I am unaware of vis a vis calendars?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to android as I just went from a Blackberry to the Fascinate. I am wondering is there a way to sync events that I put on my calendar with my husband's Fascinate. We us to do this all the time with our Blackberries and it was a life saver. I just created a gmail account to that is all new to me as well. So I am not sure if it somehow has to go through my google calendar or is there an app of a different calendar that we both can download?

I installed Gemini, and turned on the Notifications, but it tells me to disable any other notifications. Problem is, I can't find an option to do that anywhere.Long story short, if anyone knows of ANY calendar app for the Fascinate that will honor alarms/reminders, please let me know. I am in desperate need of one.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am the proud new owner of a Fascinate (Eris refugee). Love this phone! I don't seem to have any GPS issues, and reception/call quality is excellent so I guess I got a good one...
Except for one thing. My Google calendar will NOT come down into the phone. I've got my email, contacts, FB, everything else is sync'd up perfectly. But the calendar sync just keeps spinning, and anytime I try to open the calendar on the phone, it black screens and hangs for about 3-4 minutes before FC'ing on me. I understand there is a known issue with creating events on the phone calendar and not syncing to gCal - this is not that problem. The phone seems to be "stuck" trying to sync the calendar. I've let it sit there and spin until it stops. I've pulled the battery, removed downloaded apps, done about everything I can think of here. I've spent quite a bit of time getting this phone set up and I've got it dialed in brilliantly - I really REALLY do not want to throw the last several hours of getting this phone set up right out the window, but it looks like that is my only real option - a factory reset.
I do not have sync birthdays checked under my accounts. The Facebook birthday events have been added to "my calendar" events. I have even done a hard reset.
Seems like a syncing issue. I want to be able to use LPP agenda widget, but I can not customize which calendars to view. This has not happened on my Droid X or Incredible.
When I enter something in my outlook calendar or contacts it will sync with my phone (fascinate).
When I enter a calendar or contact on the phone it does not go to the computer.
Under setting and accounts and sync the exhange account is set and "sync is on"
Is there anyway to sync the Fascinate to Yahoo calender? Been looking at the app store and I see nothing on it. Is it locked out to be a Google phone?

So, i was looking for Firmware for Returning to Stock. and i found one, and used Odin3 to force update with the firmware,then i turned on my phone... and the screen said AT&T WORLD i accidental downloaded AT&T Galaxy S Captivates firmware... and now i cant go to 'Reset Factory Mode' or 'Downloading Mode'. can anyone help me? if i just can go to downloading mode, i can fix this. is there anyway to auto-goto downloading mode when you insert USB? like un-screwing the phone and doing something? i can take any-risk to fix this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI set up my corp exchange email account and the email part of it works flawlessly. The calendar on the other hand is very quirky. On the first Sync I noticed that not ALL appointments were brought over from my Outlook Calendar. Upon researching it seems that the meetings not coming over are all recurring meetings. Some were from other people that I was invited too but most were recurring meetings I had created on my own calendar.
I did some testing to isolate the behavior:
Create single appointment in Outlook
It shows up perfectly on the Fascinate.
In outlook change the appointment to recur monthly
Appointment vanishes from Fascinate.
Remove recurrence from appointment in Outlook
It comes back to Fascinate.
The same behavior can be seen when creating a fresh appointment with recurrence. The problem seems to be isolated also to recurrence set for the "every third wednesday" or something similar. It works for monthly on the 20th for instance.
Firmware version is: 2.1-Update1
Build: SCH-I500.DI01 (downloaded today and did not correct sync issue)
I'm using Lightning (part of mosaic's Thunderbird) on my computer and want to export it to my new Fascinate.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt seems that rooting the Fascinate and fixing the Google Search issue on the soft key and removing some bloatware is pretty easy, and I'm actually contemplating it once I get a Fascinate. Here are my questions: If I root the phone, I would not get OTA updates, when 2.2 came out? I would have to remove the root in order to get that OTA update to 2.2? To remove the root, I would enter the following into a command prompt on the phone or on my PC?

I'm sure I'm missing something stupid. I've turned off notifications in the stock Messaging app (I'm pretty sure). And those look different (they have the green text bubble as the icon). Can anyone clue me in as to what that 2nd notification is below the blue Handcent icon? And can I get rid of it? I'd like to keep the text messages private is why I ask - I have Handcent and the stock Messages under App Protector. And I have Handcent's option checked to not show messages in the bar, just the notification.

Is there a trick to make the browser go back to the established home page from within the standard browser interface so that it is not a multiple click task?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I got my fascinates just last week, and my wifes phone has been acting crazy a bit, and I am sure its one of the thousands of apps she has installed. So I went into the 'recovery menu' and cleared the cache and did a factory reset from there to just restore to factory state, and now everything stops unexpectedly. Gmail, calendar, and most of all, media message just keeps popping up every 3 seconds or so. If i remove the sd card the media message will stop, but if I launch things like gmail, calendar, car dock, video player, etc., they all stop unexpectedly. I cannot even setup the market place again due to this failing, does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

Can I set default notification time & type (email vs pop-up) from within this app across all calendars, individual calendars, or not at all? If I open Google Calendar on a PC, I know how to set default notifications on a per calendar basis, but cannot figure out how to do it within this Calendar app.
First of all congratulations everybody. I am soooo excited for each and every one of you. Seriously, I have a big smile on my face because I know that excitement, that joy you all are feeling. You won't be putting your phone down for days, I GUARANTEE IT! You guys seriously just purchased the most kick ass Android device, along with the rest of the Galaxy S phones!
The Vibrant and Captivate users are watching closely. Samsung has promised us a GPS optimization, and presumably your Epic and now Fascinate already has it. So you guys are our life line right now.
For those of you who will be testing out your GPS in the next few days, I'd like to make a few comments, so that we can get accurate GPS testing, to determine if the phone is actually using satellites like it should, or depends instead heavily on less accurate cell phone towers to determine your location, which means the GPS is still busted on these phones.
Okay, so here it goes. When testing your GPS, "Use Wireless Locations" should be turned off. Settings>location & security>Use wireless networks...make sure its UNCHECKED.
Read the note right under it, it says "See location in applications(such as Maps) using wireless networks."
If you put a check mark next to this, and turn this ON, then how will you ever know if the phone is functionally using the satellites. This is the big question with the phone, can it use and lock onto satellites or is Samsung hoping we use less accurate cell towers. Samsung hopes you have this on. I ask that you keep this unchecked, this is the only way to truly test the Satellite usage.
Further, by checking this, you are allowing Google to collect location data, even when no applications are running, they say its anonymous, but you never know.
So uncheck "Use Wireless Networks," restart your phone, make sure this is still unchecked, power up Google Maps, and go for a good long drive. Then please share your real world results. Including, how quickly it located you, was the location correct, how wide of a blue circle is there around your location, did the phone ever drop the GPS signal, etc. No 2 min drives, you really need to drive around a lot to dependably test this.
You can also download "GPS Test" from the Android Market, it will show you how many satellites your phone views, versus how many satellites are locked in. You need 4 LOCKED on satellites to get a true 3D positional lock that includes x,y,z,t. GPS test also shows your accuracy in ft, up in the upper right corner. Good accuracy is anything less than 10 ft. I have phones that get 5ft accuracy, the best accuracy I can get with my Vibrant is 40ft. Please report this number also. If you have time, upload a screen shot of your GPS test, or just take a pic of your phone running the GPS test, upload it and share your results.
You can also use the built in native GPS test. It is virtually the same as the GPS TEST program above, it's just not a pretty visual interface.
Go to your phones dialer, as if you are making a phone call, and dial in *#1472365# or if that doesn't work try *#*#1472365#*#*Then click on "get position test."
This test will show you your longitude and latitude, you can then enter this into Google maps to see how accurately it located you. It gives you accuracy in meters, convert to feet by multiplying the number given in meters by 3.28, you will now have your accuracy in ft.
The native built in test will show you have many satellites it has in view, the satellites that it actually locks onto will have an asterisk next to it. Please report both these numbers. Remember you need 4 locked on satellites for true precise 3D positioning.
I'm really interested to hear from prior smart-phone Android users, because these users will be able to make a direct comparison of the GPS to prior phones.
