Here is a list of confirmed working root apps...
1. Wireless Tether - Use the Incredible version (Downloads - android-wifi-tether) I have confirmed this working as well as a friend of mine.
2. Root Explorer - The ultimate file manager for root users. Access the whole of android's file system (including the elusive data folder!).
3. Shootme - Allows you to take screenshots of your device. Just fire up ShootMe and give a good sustained shake or shout to take a screenshot. If present, the light sensor can be used as well.
4. Titanium Backup - Extremely powerful backup tool for rooted Android phones ! * Backup/restore regular apps + their settings * Backup/restore protected apps + their settings * Backup/restore system settings (incl. Wi-Fi AP list) * Restores the Market links when restoring apps * Zero-click background batch backup * Many batch scenarios (eg: if more than N days since last backup, etc) * Zero-click app un-installer * Zero-click system app un-installer
5. One Click Lag Fix (working with superuser permissions)
6. adbWireless - Enable ADB wireless connection to connect to the phone as if connected by USB
7. Adfree - Removes most ads in the browser and other apps. It does this by nullifying requests to known hostnames serving ads.
8. Autokiller - an award winning minfree tweaker, it fine tunes android's inner memory manager to keep your device fast and lowers battery consumption. Users are reporting that the "Optimum" preset is stable and helps with performance/battery life.
I am using google apps email for several of my websites. the settings are the same as gmail. I am using IMAP.
I setup my @gmail account and one of my @myprivatedomain.com emails in the gmail app and regular email app on my phone. I like using the gmail app as my email app since it auto syncs and you dont have to open and wait for sync like you do w/ the regular email app.Now I can't setup my @myprivatedomain.com emails in the gmail app. I don't understand on the Adroid phones why email setup is so hard. I had one hell of a time on the X and Inc setting up email. Very buggy and intermittent does anyone know what "your phone may not be provisioned for data services" means?
Either it takes forever or I have to cancel it a couple of times before it downloads

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am coming to the SF from a BBStorm. I hated the BBStorm but it did have one feature I really liked. The BB gave me the option of either streaming or downloading videos, I loved that. Could someone please tell me how to download videos to the SF? Please tell me wht apps I may need or what settings to change. I am lost at this point.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am going to root and lag tomorrow. If I do this (since I'm on stock ROM) will I be able to recieve the OTA's? I want to get rid of all the bloat but I still want to recieve the OTA/2.2.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI'm rooted and just flashed Super Clean rom from Rom Manager. When I go to update current apps or download new ones, it says "Starting download..." and never stops! After looking this problem up and reading other people's posts who have had similar problems, I've tried clearing all cache and data related to any Google-based app. I've done multiple nandroid backups over the past few weeks and have tried restoring back to them. I've tried factory data reset both from Settings-->Privacy and also from recovery mode in CWM. I'm out of ideas.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI noticed that after I upgraded to 2.2, the "clear download history" option is now gone. It used to have "cancel all downloads" and "clear download history." So, does anyone know how to go about clearing download history?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince they shut down Iphonemoviez.net, has anyone found a new site that let you download full films or films in part straight from the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried to download 2 different .avi files, and I get "cannot download. the content is not supported on this phone". eh? SF is supposed to be able to play .avi, correct? anyone know what the deal could be?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I think I have returned everythingto Stock on my phone after using Odin. The symptoms on the phone seem to be that everything works fine when I first reset it ... and then after a re-boot I just get the Fin "Download Unsuccessful" from the app store over and over. I suppose I can bring my newly purchased phone back to Verizon and swap it...
View 35 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody know if you root will you still get the 2.2 update when it's released? I did root originally but decided to unroot because without 2.2 I can't do what I want anyway and I don't want to miss 2.2. Now if there were some cool custom ROM's it might be different......
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know, there are lots who are against one click roots. that said, I'm not fully sure I know why, and before I use ANY root method- I must be the slowest person on earth, I have been thinking about and considering and backing off from rooting for what seems like ages- I want to know everything I can about it. so, does the program work for the fascinate? is there a good reason NOT to try it? also- how hard is it (with any root method) to take the phone back to stock? yes, I know there is info on how to do this- I am not looking for detailed instructions- more like, opinions. how easy is it, did someone get hung up on any particular part of these processes, etc. honestly, I have the root files on my computer already for normal root- but keep chickening out. on the one hand, I hate the thought of voiding warranty on purpose- on the other hand, in all the years I have had phones and computers and other electronics, I have only ONCE had to use warranty, and then they said it was void anyway because they did not believe that the problem was due to a manufacturing problem(which it was) and I STILL had to pay for the repair. that all said, I get closer each day to rooting but I continue researching the subject (including the after rooting what to do stuff)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install the 1click root but it is not working. It shows my phone connected but then restarts the phone to make sure the push will work. When my phone restarts it tries to push everything during the restart and of course it does not show my phone connected anymore.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was just curious if you did a factory reset would you lose root? And what would happen if you froze bloat with TiBU once you did the reset. Im not planning on doing this but I was just curious what would happen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo in accordance with a deodexed ROM, is it possible to simply use Root Explorer to delete all of the .odex files under /system/app and lighten up our current ROM or is there something else that goes into deodexing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone and I am now having problems with mms pictures messages when I am on wifi. When I hit send, I see the 3g icon pop up but it never turns colors like data is actually being transfered then it goes away. When I look at the message details, it says status pending and it never sends. If I turn off wifi, it sends fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUpdate: I realized later that "EASY" might be a bit of a stretch. This guide is easy for anyone already experienced with adb (ie. rooted other android phones). I will update this thread as the methods get easier and easier. I have also attached a screenshot of my command prompt as I entered all of the commands so you can see the appropriate commands and follow the guide through.I followed the guide here: http://rootzwiki.com - How to Root the Samsung Fascinate and it worked flawlessly. I just posted this over at XDA as well.Took me less than 5 minutes.Download the SDK here if you don't have it already: Android SDK | Android Developers.
View 49 Replies View RelatedJust wondering how long you all thought it would be before there is a one click root app for the Fascinate? I can't imagine it would be long.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I was curious on the In's and out's of removing root and I came across this video on the youtubes. It seems simple and straight forward. So if anyone was curious on how to remove root this seems super easy. If any of you gurus (looking at you saps and nitsuj17) can confirm this is a good way to do this that would be awesome.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI hear that the google search widget is blocked on the fascinate in the market place. Can't you just download it from the marketplace on another phone and copy it to the MicroSD and install it on the fascinate?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIt seems that rooting the Fascinate and fixing the Google Search issue on the soft key and removing some bloatware is pretty easy, and I'm actually contemplating it once I get a Fascinate. Here are my questions: If I root the phone, I would not get OTA updates, when 2.2 came out? I would have to remove the root in order to get that OTA update to 2.2? To remove the root, I would enter the following into a command prompt on the phone or on my PC?
How To Remove Root
adb shell
su (its going to ask you for permission on your phone so hit allow)
rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
rm /system/xbin/busybox
rm /system/xbin/su
exit
Once I removed the root, the OTA update would just come up? Is there a difference between unrooting and returning my phone to stock? How to go back To stock - Android Forums.
I messed up with root for my sf. It turns on normally but it just keeps making me force quit twlauncher, and bunch of stuff so I have no access to my phone. How do I fix this?

I'll be testing it later today and posting my findings.
My wife's phone needs to be returned because of continuous dropped calls. I did root her phone, but that's about. Will doing a factory reset be fine or do I have to un-root before returning? Also, does anyone know if doing a factory reset would improve the reception? Seems VZW hasn't been able to resolve the issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted Fascinate. After a second re-root my SF has been very buggy. My first root was successful. I messed something up trying to install voodoo and had to flash back to stock. Now, after a second buggy root I am faced with many freezes and FC's. (primarily in com.android.settings, but will float to various apps). Battery pulls don't seem to help. After a certain amount of using my phone, hopping WiFi, maps, email, just normal use, something will need to FC.
Within the next few days I plan on un-lagfixing my phone & un-rooting it. Ultimately I'd like to take it back stock and not root. This leads to my question: what is the best way to flash stock. I don't want anything left. I can tell there was something left from my first root because ads still do not show up. I had an ad block program installed on my first root.
I tried the one click root on my fascinate. It was successful and the phone rebooted. After it started up, it kept making noise like it was ringing and wouldn't stop. Also now when I send texts, it will send them but it wont show them in the screen. Also the browser says page not available and every time I download from the market it says download failed. Also I have no 3G connection and time is wrong.
